I really dont want a long walk to the bus when staying at this resort. Would it be possible to just make the request to have a short walk and pay for a standard room, or is this what a preferred room ($240??) entails. I remember having a very long walk from the rubics cube room in the Pop Century to the bus and i dont want a walk like that before.
I could switch to the asmovies, how long a walk are the rooms to the busses?
Thanks

There are several bus stops, unlike the values, so odds are you won't be too far from one. Enjoy!

We stayed in Casitas 5 and it worked out very well as far as the bus. Casitas 4 would also work. It was just a short walk through the parking lot to get to the bus.

Those buildings are close to bus stop #2, which is actually the first bus stop. The bus is never full when you get on and it's the first stop when you get back again.

Those buildings are about 1/2 way between the main pool and El Centro. We thought it was a great location, without having to pay for a preferred room.

Thanks Guys! So If I were to put in a verbal request upon arrival, what would be the best building to request, casitas 5?

Its a nice section BUT its far from the main pool. I was in cabanas 8b and OMG how perfect! Its right by the bus stop (3rd pickup, bus stop #4 I think). Buses were never full and we always had a seat...and this was in August! Cabanas 8b is right across the main pool. Great location! I love that there's CS at the pool where you can also refill your mug!

Casitas is pretty, but too far from main pool. If you plan on using the quiet pool more than it would be fine for you.

Btw I have always faxed CSR my room request a few days before arrival (even thou they say not to) and I have always gotten what I wanted. :)

I agree. Cabanas 9A or 8B ... very nice. Close to pool and a short way to the bus.

.

We love Ranchos section 7 (a or b). Quiet pool is right there, or just a short walk to main pool. Bus stops 3 and 4 on either side, so we always got a seat. I would just advise never trying to get a bus to the parks in the morning from the main building--chaos! We gave up our seats many times to parents with babies/toddlers or older people because the bus was always full by the time we got there.

It really depends on what you want as far as which building to request. You can google a map of CSR to see where you want to request. I called in my request about a week before our arrival. I think you are more likely to get something close to what you want if you ask in advance. I heard they don't take fax requests anymore.

I know a lot of people love Cabanas. I think 8B is about the same distance as Casitas 5 to the main pool. It depends a bit on what you want. We wanted to be close to the fitness center and the first bus stop(#2 bus stop). Cabanas 8a and a couple of the Ranchos buildings are the very closest to the main pool.

Casitas 1, 2, and 3 are the "preferred" buildings putting you closer to El Centro. Cabanas 9B is business class.

We were also pleasantly surprised to see the fireworks outside of our room from Casitas 5 (room 5424). MK if we looked straight out and Epcot if we looked right. I don't think you would see them from the lower floors. It wasn't as good as seeing it in the parks, but it was fun to see a little of them!

Thanks, where would I get the phone number for the resort?
From what I have read and looked at it seems like Cabanas 9A or 8B would be the closest to both busing and pool. am i correct?

The number is : (407) 939-1000

They answer like it's CSR, but I think it's a call center. They can take your room requests...I think 7 or 10 days before your arrival. If you want the request added before that, I think you have to call WDW reservations.

If you think the walk from the rubik's cube to the busses is long then nothing at Coronado is going to please you. If you are in one of the 80's buildings it is a very short walk across the 90's parking lot to the bus stops. I love the 80's section because it is close to the busses. You don't have to walk around and go through Classic Hall...that would be the long way. Building 9 (a rubik's cube building) is my favorite building to stay in due to its closeness. You'll have a hard time getting a room you think is close to the bus stops if you think this is a long walk.

just my opinion, not meant to be snarky

HI, I stayed in the rubik's cube room and had a hateful walk to the main bldg and buses, the following year i stayed right next to the main pool and had a only a hop skip and a jump to the main building/buses.

Why not just request "close to a bus stop" on your reservation? If you start asking for specific buildings, you may limit yourself as to room location and end up further away than you want.

thanks...would you say that all buildings are the same distance as the rubiks cube blding was. now im reconsidering the booking and might go back to pop century. we stayed in the 50s or 60s and it was only a few minutes to the bus.

I haven't stayed at POP, but I know I didn't feel like I had a long walk at CSR to the bus. We were in Casitas 5 and it took us about 2 minutes, including the elevator ride. I'm sure it depends on where you are located within the buildings too. A previous poster suggested requesting that you be close to a bus stop in your reservation. If that is the most important thing for you, you may want to make that request just to be sure you're close.

Also, looking at POP's map, it looks like some of the buildings are definitely a longer hike to the bus than at CSR. But again, I haven't stayed there, so I'm just judging that by the map.

Another thing that is nice about CSR as far as the bus...when you leave the theme parks at night, CSR is one of the first ones in the line-up...right there with the deluxe resorts. I think they are trying to cater to the conventioneers to make sure it's a good experience for them...so they will come back with their families of course :)
