So where would you stop to grab a bite near MCO?

We are having fun discussing the details. :) We arrive at noon on a Saturday, and so it'll probably be 1:00 before we get our luggage and rental car and get off airport. We probably won't be able to get into our villa until 4:00, and we will have the dog with us, so we can't do sit-down. If you had to pick up drive-through on the way, what would it be? (We are staying in Emerald Island, so driving past WDW.) Things we don't have in Canada would be the most fun!

Chik-fil-A right in the airport food court!!!!!!!!

Makes me hungry just thinking of it! Yum!!!

There are lots of places to eat at the food court in the airport. Just eat there before you pick up your rental car.

We have liked chik fil a but it's on my boycott list. I looked at the MCO website and nothing looks very interesting. Maybe just because it's all tainted in my mind with that "I'm stuck in the airport with nothing good to eat" vibe!

I was going to suggest Friendlys, because my boys firmly believe that every great family vacation should begin with ice cream :) (and we LOVE their supermelt sandwiches). But then I read that you were looking for drive-through places, which Friendly's is not.

How about Sonic? Your kiddos might enjoy eating at a real "drive in" (we have nothing similar in our neck of the woods, anyway....maybe you have 'em out east?).

We also like Popeyes (while there is one in Niagara Falls, we don't have one near our home) and Checkers is good for fast and cheap burgers. They have yummy milkshakes too.

Cici's Pizza is generally pretty quick to grab something to go as well. We have had three medium pizzas ready in about 15 minutes for $10 (total, not each).

Edited to add....I have no idea which of these would be close to the airport, or on the way to your villa. That you would have to check out!

Yikes! Is there something I should know about Chik????

Always a tradition to start our trip. By the time you get downstairs your luggage is there.

Or we stop at Steak n Shake at Orange Blossom Trail off the toll highway. (417 I believe)

We always have to eat at Ponderosa (on the 192) and TGI Fridays (near the North entrance to WDW area - can't remember the road). There are a lot of food options on the 192.

Steak and Shake on Orange Blossom Trail right off of 417 has a drive through and its only 2 exits from WDW.

We always try for Earl of Sandwich at DTD if it's open. Take out or eat there, it's better then most food in the area for the price.

I second the MCO Food Court, there are so many selections and they have PANDA EXPRESS! So good, we love it and although it is similar to Manchu Wok here in Canada, Panda is sooo much better.

Thanks everyone for the ideas! Dh and I were talking last night. I think we will look for a Sonic, for something different. Steak and Shake is on the list too, have to map everything. Honorable mention to Friendly's, Gina--we have a vacation rule, ice cream EVERY DAY, so Friendly's is a good "resource", and we all really like it. Sadly, we need drive through for our first meal, as Madame Puppy can't be left anywhere until we check into the villa at 4. (I read some where that it's actually illegal to leave a dog alone in a car in Fl. Makes sense with their climate, and takes the "can we run in quickly" decision out of our hands.)

LOL, we have similar family standards when on vacation.......which is usually why I require new pants in a larger size by the time I return home :lmao: .
