Our Active April: W.I.S.H. Exercise Challenge

Holy Cow work was extremely crazy today. Got 18365 steps in in my 12 hrs. Normal is usually 8-10,000.

15 min core today. I am going to get a BOSU ball to help with balance so will add that into my core workout starting tomorrow hopefully.

We have friends (much younger than us) who do it at a gym and they are in amazing shape. The girl has run a half marathon before, but in January she ran ~4:30 full at wdw and her longest training run was ~9. She was in shape from Cross Fit! I think there are still things that might aggravate your itband, but she has had itbs in the past as well and seemed to do great at the marathon. Mike and I started 30DS, as I am just too paranoid about my back. I need to ease into things at my age. ;) lol

Yeah Rose, you're just ancient!:lmao:

I contacted the CrossFit place and told them about my IT issues. They said not a problem as there are always modifications. It looks like they won't actually let you move up in intensity until they're sure you won't injure yourself. I'm going to see the Mouse :mickeyjum this weekend, so I'm going to try one of the "Baby CrossFit" classes next Friday. Guess we'll see how it goes!

4/2 - 35 walk, 30 elliptical

I'd love to hear how you like it. If they had a class specifically for people over 40, I think Mike and I would both do it, but I get nervous with some of these instructors who really don't get it that your body changes as you age (whether you want it to or not :thumbsup2). We are both closer to 50 than 40, so our goal in everything is avoid injury! Since my back is feeling better, I might revisit the trx class idea--we were going to do that in February. I bet that would be something else you could try while you are resting your itbands.

The instructor advised they have all ages including people in their 70's and 80's. They just tailor it to each person. And stop making me feel so old! :sad2: I'm smack in the middle of 40 and 50!:lmao: I thought about the TRX too, but I like the idea of working out in an open air warehouse setup as opposed to a closed up classroom. I live in Florida so I might as well take advantage of it!:dance3:

Glad to be a teacher on spring break. Another hour & a half at the gym! April is off to a good start!

:goodvibes Oh, I definitely do not look at myself as old, just realistic. I would love to try it, it just scares the crud out of me. I will let you be the 40something guinea pig and you can tell me how it goes. :) Sounds like a great class.

So far today I'm in for 45 minutes of low impact aerobics/yoga and 120 minutes on the treadmill. My workout buddy suggested trying the aerobics class, and then we did C25K week 4 followed by C25K week 2.

That brings me to:

That's a couple of walks this morning. Didn't do weights last night so better get them in today!

Did another 30 minutes on the treadmill using my lolo app. Having rotator cuff surgery on the 10th, so I was told to quit all the arm swinging at my cardio classes. So getting used to walking and back into the Galloway method for some 5Ks this year.

90/1000

10 min walk with dog warm up
stretching, leg-feet band stretches, weight machine with leg tricep curls, sit/stand with 5lb weight

I have to LOL at that since I have to focus on swinging my arms.;)

Happy Healing!
