WISH Away The Pounds ~ Achieving in April ~ All are WELCOME!

Lisa -The poor Wonder Mutt accidentally got kicked really hard the first time I worked out inside. I felt SOOOOOO bad!!!:sad::sad: She was just so curious as to what Mommy was doing, and I didn't see her behind me. Next thing you know, WHAM! I blew off the rest of the workout and just hugged her and gave her belly rubs for the next half hour. And you know those mutts, all is forgiven after about 10 seconds! :love:

The next time I went to work out inside, I think she remembered and wouldn't come anywhere near me, even when I called to her. And she almost always comes to me when I call her. At least I don't have to worry about accidentally whacking her again!:scared1:

Our tiki hut is finished except for the wiring, so I'll probably just take it outside. She's more interested in sniffing around anyway, so I won't need to be concerned with anymore accidental contact.:worried:

Poor little dog!!! I love it how you call her wonder mutt!!! :goodvibes I guess dogs just think jumping around means playtime and want to join into the fun...

I'm in again for April. I took March off because I knew it would not be good. Busy with work and DH had shoulder surgery. Hoping to be more active on here but I will be at least reading along.

Great to have you back!!

My favorite healthy snack is salsa! Trader Joe's makes a really really yummy one that makes me want to cross border shop every week instead of my usual every month. It's zero WW points - I just need to come up with something besides potatoes or nachos to have with it so I'm not having a ton of carbs with it and negating the zero point factor!

I love eating dips with vegetables - but not sure how well carrot goes with salsa...

Well, after 12 weeks, 29lbs off and healthy eating, I think I''m finally beginning to see a difference.

Yes, one can certainly see a difference! Especially in your face! Well done!

And I am very happy that you decided to stay around! :goodvibes

I have a busy day today and tomorrow. DH had to go out of town, so I have to leave work early to get DSs from school. Today, I'm going to try to squeeze in a workout at home while they do homework, then make dinner, and finally take DSs to swimming. We'll get home at 8:00 and they'll get ready for bed. I'm also not feeling that great, so I hope I get some good sleep and wake up refreshed. I just haven't been sleeping good.

So, work is not better today. 3 out of my 4 classes were great. And, the other wasn't great because of the aide again :( But, one of the 3 people who run the company quit over the weekend so, I'm hoping it'll get better. She was the main problem and I think the other 2 bosses work well together, so I'm hoping for some positive changes. They are having a staff meeting Thursday (we are a nonprofit so they are having a board meeting tomorrow as well), so I am hoping for some answers. I am going to remain positive and hope for the best! I am hoping my stress level will go down and I can concentrate on my health again.

Well, my day is almost over since I'm heading out a bit early. I don't think I'll have time to post again today, but I will try to read up while I sit a swimming tonight.

Have a great day.

Jill

I am so sorry about your work situation - I find it so frustrating that you put in the effort to work at a place where it matters so much and then it is so difficult for you. I really do hope that the change in management will bring along some positive change overall! I truly admire that you are working in such an important field and can only try to imagine how difficult it is!!

Eliza 32--wow!
Also the other lady that posted before and after pics on here--also amazing. I think I was just reading on my phone then so I couldn't respond.

Yeah-- I should eat more salmon--I work in a seafood/meat dept. lol. Which does make me pretty picky about getting it. My favorite thing to do with it is bake it with some dill a little salt then mix it with mayo after getting the skin off and bones out. Then you put it on englich muffins with a little cheese on top and broil that. amazing.

I will would go with guacamole, love that stuff! But I too find it difficult to stop at one serving :upsidedow So I am gonna say almonds! I buy the big canister at Costco and divide them into 1 oz servings in snack size baggies and keep a bunch in my car and my desk for a good go-to snack :thumbsup2:
When I was at Pike place they had a bunch of flavored almonds at a booth and they were amazing. I should check out places around here to see if I can find anything like that.

Thanks for the laugh lol. If it makes you feel any better I whopped Misty a little on one of her excursions out of the bedroom lately. She get so on the offense around the other cats she doesn't really pay attention to being in the way of walking people lol.

The TJs here sells carb cutting tortillas (brand is sonoma I think)! Only 60 cals, 4 net carbs, and 7 gs fiber! I :love: them! Sprinkle with a bit of cheese, toast up and enjoy with salsa :)
I still want to make my own tortillas. I need to go through and compare different brands for the best ingredients and lower fat etc. I made them out of flour for Halloween (with Halloween coookie cutters) but I think I want to try corn. It's pretty easy really.

Was looking up potassium and possible connection to appetite and ran across Garcinia Cambosia supplements. Sound interesting so I ordered some off Amazon as well as some concealer I needed to get anyway. The ones I ordered had the most potassium added that I came across, was pure and made in USA and were 63% off.
Decided to skip workout today and ride my bike as the weather seems to be holding and I worked out late last night.
My friend finally broke up with his girlfriend yay! She was really controlling and the situation was bad for me. I'm so glad for him-- it was a hard one for him to get out of being her sister works at our store and she's higher up in management than he is. Things won't be much different because of the way it started, but I'll be able to see him more so I'm really happy about it! Best Birthday present ever. "Ding dong the wicked witch is dead"
Only problem now is every female within 50 miles will be after him as soon as they know--oh well-- guess I'll have to step things up. Nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition. pirate: party:

Right there with ya! I'm forcing myself into running retirement until June so my IT's can heal, but I have NO idea what I'm going to do that's as good a workout. I have an elliptical but I'm not that crazy about it and roller blading puts stress on the IT's as well. Guess I may just be hitting up the community pool as it's heated. Plus it's plenty warm enough days now that I won't freeze when I get out. But it's so small!! Ugh!:scared1: If you come up with something just as productive as running, let me know.:love:

If I get in the pool you'll have to rescue me. I can't swim, at all. DH says I drowned on Titanic. LOL
I'm going to attempt 30 day shred but if I find anything else I will definitely let you know. Let me know if you find anything.

I havea torn meniscus and I have not had surgery. Some days are better than others. I too want to move the weight down to lessen the load.

Good luck.

He thinks I have a fray, time will tell.

Buffy, glad that you may be able to heal without the ortho. I know it's tough to be patient but you have lots of time before Princesspalooza! princess: Let your body heal. :flower3:

Do we have a thread or a FB page for the PP 2014 group?

Morning all and HAPPY Tuesday! Life has suddenly gotten exponentially busier and crazier for this week, so I am skipping my talk and chat time this morning in order to get the last of March's results posted. If possible, I will find some chat time tonight.

I hope it's a good crazy!

Well, after 12 weeks, 29lbs off and healthy eating, I think I''m finally beginning to see a difference.

Damn girl! You look good!!

Ok everyone... I have the spreadsheet all set up, and all participants are added to Post #3.

If you did not receive a PM from me, I have not recieved your info. Except of course for the 3 participants who do not currently have PM privileges (Eliza32, AnimalDrummer, and bleubell)... I do have your info :)

Please PM me if I missed you! :)

Wowza, miss one day and I am already 5 pages behind! :rotfl:

I know exactly how you feel!! :lmao:

And QOTD..How do I deal with my extra appetite from exercising???? I have a banana and a drink of cold water. Usually does me until the next mealtime, but then I don't do a lot of serious exercise!!

I like to have a protein drink after my workouts. EAS is a fav brand of mine because it has lots of protein (17gms) but little carbs (4gms) and its tasty!! It does a great job at controlling my appetite after workouts.:yay:

Quotd: 4/2/13 Tues.

Have to agree with the salmon!! Love it anytime, then again, I pretty much love all seafood!! :love:

Poor wonder baby!!! Although my dog learned a similar lesson with the pedals of my recumbent bike!! And I felt terrible, but he just gave me those cute little butt wiggles and all was forgiven. However now when I am on the bike, he just stands in front and watches me.

You look awesome!! Great job with the loss!! :cool1:

YUMMY!!! I will have to try that! I have also used pork rinds to dip in salsa. It still gives you the crunch like a chip, but no carbs!! :thumbsup2

=================================

Had a busy night at work and never got back to post earlier. I ended up being Charge nurse, so I had to make rounds and help out staff. Which was great since I noticed that walking up and down the halls, I was not huffing & puffing nearly as much as I was earlier this year. And also my uniforms don't make me feel like a stuffed sausage anymore! :cool1:

I start my week off today and am still adjusting my schedule back to "day shift" so I can get in a couple good hikes and perhaps a distance walk (since it is Seattle and will be raining 4 out of the 7 days I have off! :lmao:)

Well time to make a nice dinner and get to planning our schedule for the summer competitions with Puck! We joined an agility club so now he is doing flyball & agility!! He is amazing at flyball and total crap at agility! :rotfl2: But he has a blast either way, so I am happy. :cheer2:

Have a great night everyone!! :goodvibes

No I haven't, but I am heading there this weekend so I will be checking it out. I did get a big bag of vanilla protein powder there that I use when I am home and then use sugar free syrup to flavor it, but I still buy the premade shakes to take to work and also use for a quick snack after workouts or when on the road. However they are a bit pricy so a Costco option would be great, thanks!!:thumbsup2

Oooh I'll have to have a look out for them next time I'm there.

I haven't been very good so far this month. Nothing terribly bad but just a bit too much of it, good thing we're only two days in!

Congratulations Eliza32! You can do it! :)

Hope everyone is doing well. We went away for a break from the weather for Easter. It was pretty awesome to run outside--actually just to be outside.
We walked a lot while we were gone!

I am up a couple of pounds, but that is pretty normal after a weekend a way. I have set a goal of 6 pounds for April which is a pretty huge goal for me, but I have been going nowhere this year and I want to be back in the 140s. I also have an exercise goal of 1700 minutes. The weather is still not so great here (for us anyhow) but it is on an upward trend, so I am going to try to be as active as I can this month and really watch what I eat and hopefully I will see at least some of those pounds disappear.:goodvibes

Helen, you look great! :goodvibes There is a big difference, especially in your face and I definitely think you are done with your "before" shirt. ;) Keep up the good work! :yay:

Jill, hope that things will improve at work with a change in management. Hang in there! :flower3:

Susan, glad the kitties are doing well. :cat:

Do we have a thread or a FB page for the PP 2014 group?

I think there might be the big group on the Events side of the WISH boards but I suspect it will be summer before we do anything else. I'm in double digits for my cruise and that occupies most of my brain cells these days. :rotfl:

Ok everyone... I have the spreadsheet all set up, and all participants are added to Post #3.

Thanks for hostessing this month! :flower3:

Linda, hope it's not too wet this week-end to enjoy some time with Puck! :umbrella:

For all you folks talking about protein powder here is an article that was just published by sparkpeople.com about other ways you can use protein powder.

I haven't been very good so far this month. Nothing terribly bad but just a bit too much of it, good thing we're only two days in!

Hang in there! It takes awhile to get the hang of things and never, ever give up! :goodvibes

Morning friends! Things are still nutty around here!

DS and his robotics team are off to Maine today for their next Regionals competition. DH will be heading to Maine today for work until Friday and will be popping in to see the competition when he can. I will be driving back and forth on Friday and Saturday. I was going to go up Friday and stay over, but my Mom wants to come see it on Saturday and I didn't want her to have to make the 3 hour drive.

New roof is going on TODAY!! :cool1:

I've been doing great with eating, but fitting in exercise for the past few days has been a real struggle. Hopefully laundry, etc can count for some movement.... wish driving did!::yes::

I'll be in an out again today, but I have a few minutes right now so I will try to catch up here just a bit!................P

Well, after 12 weeks, 29lbs off and healthy eating, I think I''m finally beginning to see a difference.

QOTD - My fave snack is those olives stuffed with almonds......only trouble is I could eat a whole tub.......same goes for peanut butter, especially if it's the good stuff from Whole Foods........good job my nearest Whole Foods is 200 miles away!!!!

BIG difference....I can see it in your face and your midsection! That grey top needs to go into the donate pile. You look great in that more fitted printed top!!:thumbsup2

My favorite healthy fat snack is nuts. I just have to remember to portion control & not eat them out of the jar or can :)

I actually put a carefully weighed 1 oz portion of mixed nuts into a ziptop bag and taped the bag inside the nut cupboard so I can see it EVERY TIME I grab for the nuts. I also measured a portion a few times into our little ramekins that I use to serve myself nuts. It is good to VISUALIZE what a serving looks like in that dish, rather than just fill it up!

When I work out in my living room, my dog wants to be right next to me. I've kicked her quite a few times & she just never learns :confused3 I think she wants to join me and get exercise!

My kitty always ends up around me when I am on the floor doing chest flies or push ups or my stretching.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a busy day today and tomorrow. DH had to go out of town, so I have to leave work early to get DSs from school. Today, I'm going to try to squeeze in a workout at home while they do homework, then make dinner, and finally take DSs to swimming. We'll get home at 8:00 and they'll get ready for bed. I'm also not feeling that great, so I hope I get some good sleep and wake up refreshed. I just haven't been sleeping good.
Good luck fitting in the exercise. Sorry you haven't slept well. Maybe a good exhausting workout will help!
So, work is not better today. 3 out of my 4 classes were great. And, the other wasn't great because of the aide again :( But, one of the 3 people who run the company quit over the weekend so, I'm hoping it'll get better. She was the main problem and I think the other 2 bosses work well together, so I'm hoping for some positive changes. They are having a staff meeting Thursday (we are a nonprofit so they are having a board meeting tomorrow as well), so I am hoping for some answers. I am going to remain positive and hope for the best! I am hoping my stress level will go down and I can concentrate on my health again.
Well, my day is almost over since I'm heading out a bit early. I don't think I'll have time to post again today, but I will try to read up while I sit a swimming tonight.
Have a great day.
Jill
Good for you for trying to remain positive in a difficult situation. I had a difficult class on Monday (I know from experience) and tried SUPER hard to stay on a positive track all day, ignoring some less-than-desirable behaviors and loudly praising any and all positive behaviors. It seemed to work pretty well with just two kids ending the day on "yellow" and "red" (versus green). And it made ME feel better at the end of the day to be able to leave a good note for the teacher! I think of you OFTEN when I have to deal with difficult classes and I don't know how you do your job EVERY DAY without going a bit nutty. :confused3
Yeah-- I should eat more salmon--I work in a seafood/meat dept. lol. Which does make me pretty picky about getting it. My favorite thing to do with it is bake it with some dill a little salt then mix it with mayo after getting the skin off and bones out. Sounds SO yummy! I can't stand dealing with the skin and bones so if I have salmon it is usually the Ocean Beauty salmon burgers.... no muss, no fuss, no waste!
I still want to make my own tortillas. I need to go through and compare different brands for the best ingredients and lower fat etc. I made them out of flour for Halloween (with Halloween coookie cutters) but I think I want to try corn. It's pretty easy really.
They aren't difficult to make, but definitely time consuming.
I'm going to attempt 30 day shred but if I find anything else I will definitely let you know. Let me know if you find anything.
Careful with the 30 day Shred..... lots of squats, lunges, etc that can really make your knees hurt.... even MY "normal" knees take a beating during that workout. You might have to modify some of the workout.
Sounds like you had a great ACTIVE vacation!!! Lucky girl!
You and I are BOTH on track for a GREAT April.... time to get back to goal weight, right??:thumbsup2 And BTW, what do you consider "not so great" weather?? We have had temps in the 20's with snow flurries the last few days! I am SO over this winter! That being said, the roofers are here today, so that makes it feel like spring!:rotfl:
***********
Okay.... caught up just a bit! I'll read just a bit more and then I'm off to feed DS and drive him to the neighboring school district to catch the bus to Maine!...............P
Tomatos with olive oil. Either as a salad: just chop up some tomatoes, drizzle olive oil over it, salt them and shred a few leaves of basil. Delicious. Or the other version would include heating the olive oil up in a pan (not too hot!), sautee some garlic in it, add the tomatoes and let it cook for a little while. Add basil and eat it with pasta. If I can splurge on calories, I will often add a little more olive oil just before serving it, so that there is some uncooked oil in it as well. Both are my summer staples. Can't wait for the real tomatoes to become available, those winter greenhouse ones just aren't tasty enough.
YUMM!! I have a friend who grows organic hothouse tomatoes for a co-op and he frequently share his "rejects" with me. Can't WAIT for that first tomato that tastes like summer!
I am sure you will see results! How annoying to have to work all that overtime. Days like that for soure really make workout more or less impossible!
Oh yeah, I am ALL about the guacamole!:love: Only problem is I can never stop at one serving!:scared1:
Have you ever seen the Wholly Guacamole brand of single serving packs? Really yummy and 100 calories!! Can't beat that. I do like my guac a bit chunkier, but the smoother stuff in those packs is great for sandwiches!
I've decided, as much as I HATE to work out to DVD's, that I'll be substituting running with my TapOut XT, WiiFit NFL Workout, some other WiiFit workout DVD that I can't remember the name of, and one of the Beach Body DVD's. Maybe if I stick to it for a while, I may come to have more of a love/hate relationship with them inside of just straight out despising them!::yes::
How about some of the BL workouts on DVD? There are several really good ones!
I had a lunch date with a friend today at our favorite sushi place, but she's under the weather. So I'm on my own, and I'm in the city...I think I'm going to autopilot myself over to Subway. If I go to the university food court, or Whole Foods, or even Sweetgreen or Roti, I'll just end up piling on things that aren't on plan. Bonus - the Subway is a couple of blocks away, so I'll get an extra walk! I just wish it was warmer - we're 20 degrees cooler than yesterday. Wrong direction, Mother Nature!
I hope everyone's having a great Tuesday (oxymoron in my book, but there you go)!
XO
Liz
Good job making a smart choice for lunch. Other than the carbs, I find Subway such a GREAT place to have a healthy meal!
I'm in again for April. I took March off because I knew it would not be good. Busy with work and DH had shoulder surgery. Hoping to be more active on here but I will be at least reading along.
Glad you are back with us!
My favorite healthy snack is salsa! Trader Joe's makes a really really yummy one that makes me want to cross border shop every week instead of my usual every month. It's zero WW points - I just need to come up with something besides potatoes or nachos to have with it so I'm not having a ton of carbs with it and negating the zero point factor!
I actually enjoy salsa with celery sometimes.... sure, chips are better, celery works too! And I LOVE salsa on eggs!
*************
Caught up just a bit more!..............P
I'm in and my weight is PMed.
I gained back 4 pounds and I am soooo pissed at myself. I can not slide!! I can not cheat!!!! I can not slack!!
I'm sorry things have been going in the wrong direction. :hug:
Went to the DR today, and he is pretty darn proud of me, injury and all. It was nice to see the scale slowly creeping away from the 200 mark. But he does think I have a meniscus injury. Not bad enough to need ortho yet, but bad enough to lay off the running. He said no more than 1 mile every other day, and I need to switch to elliptical or a bike. So my friend that has a gym membership in town is going to meet me for a guest pass at the gym this week or next so I can see if I like it.
We will reassess in a month and see if I need PT and to see if someone needs to help me set up an exercise program. Then if that doesn't help, he'll send me to ortho. The good thing is ortho and PT are in the same building and they are right here in town.
The biggest thing he said was to not get discouraged, so I just keep telling myself if I do get injured I can't do Princess-palooza in 2014, I have to focus on getting better. So right now I need to focus on my food, because I'd like to be lighter when I get back to harder running so I put less force on my knees.
Do NOT get discouraged. Let that knee heal up so you can enjoy your birthday celebration at the Princess next year!!!
Good afternoon/evening everyone!! Got my stats PM'd and ready to "officially" be part of this group. Hope everyone is having a great day, just off for my last night of work this week so I will check in later. :goodvibes
WOOOHOO on being "official" now!!
Did day one of 30 day shred today, now to stay motivated for the remaining 29 days
One day at a time is all it takes!
Quotd: 4/2/13 Tues.
What is your favorite healthy fat dinner, snack, food etc.
I think a few folks missed the "FAT" word in that question.
I'm gonna say peanut butter or almond butter (without added sugar). So yummy and delish on a toasted low carb roll!! Such a great treat.... just wish the portion could be a bit larger. ;) ...........................P
Hey guys. I'm gonna tag along in this thread for the month.
I've been going through a somewhat manic phase for the last two weeks. High energy with low food. I have to force myself to eat, and sometimes it makes me sick.
I'm not gonna set a goal, but I'm gonna participate in the thread, if that makes any sense.
Congratulations Eliza32! You can do it! :)
I am up a couple of pounds, but that is pretty normal after a weekend a way. I have set a goal of 6 pounds for April which is a pretty huge goal for me, but I have been going nowhere this year and I want to be back in the 140s. I also have an exercise goal of 1700 minutes. The weather is still not so great here (for us anyhow) but it is on an upward trend, so I am going to try to be as active as I can this month and really watch what I eat and hopefully I will see at least some of those pounds disappear.:goodvibes
You can do it :thumbsup2 And those are some pretty amazing step counts!!
Well, after 12 weeks, 29lbs off and healthy eating, I think I''m finally beginning to see a difference.
[!!!!
OMG yes for sure you can see one!! Congrats!! I agree with the other posters about no more gray shirt for you.. :)
You and I are BOTH on track for a GREAT April.... time to get back to goal weight, right??:thumbsup2 And BTW, what do you consider "not so great" weather?? We have had temps in the 20's with snow flurries the last few days! I am SO over this winter! That being said, the roofers are here today, so that makes it feel like spring!:rotfl:
Good luck to your DS. :)
I think our high today is 55 (yesterday it was 50). Our normal high for this time of year is 65 and we have usually turned the heat off by now. I am just ridiculously cold and can't get warm. I will not be complaining about the temps this summer--that's what shade is for.:goodvibes
Hey guys. I'm gonna tag along in this thread for the month.
I've been going through a somewhat manic phase for the last two weeks. High energy with low food. I have to force myself to eat, and sometimes it makes me sick.
I'm not gonna set a goal, but I'm gonna participate in the thread, if that makes any sense.
Hang in there. If it keeps up for much longer, maybe a trip to the doctor might be a good idea. Feel better.:goodvibes
You can do it :thumbsup2 And those are some pretty amazing step counts!!
Thank you for the encouragement. :)
Okay, Okay...grey shirt is in the donate pile...along with the black one I have that's the same!!! Funny how I loved it because it hid everything, but now I can see it looked terrible!!!!
Weight in tonight, in about an hour or so, been on the scales at home and they're saying that I have stayed the same.........my monthly friend just arrived, so I'm assuming that's the reason as certainly haven't been pigging out on stuff I shouldn't.
Exercise is still at a complete standstill, so I've been looking up times for our local pools, might give some swimming a go on Friday as it's my day off. Need to start some kind of exercises to tighten up the empty bits where my fat used to be. Would love to try 30 day shred, but my lounge is just too small to jump about or swing my arms in. Pilates type exercise might be a possibility though.
Hope you're all having a good day, the sun is out here, so that's always a bonus!!
