Via Napoli on the regular dining plan

Does anyone know how the allotment breaks out for using the dining plan at Via Napoli? My husband and I are eating there and will plan to order an appetizer and salad, but if we order a pizza to share, how does that work with the dining plan? I know we would normally get an entree, so I was just curious how they would split a pizza for 2 adults? Wou,ld we have to order individual pizzas or could we split a large? Since we know we want to order other stuff, I figured we would just pay out of pocket for that meal, but wanted to make sure it's not more economical to go ahead and do the dining plan and just pay the difference. Thanks in advance!

This is one restaurant where they will NOT let you share if on the DDP. You will both have to order an entree of some kind. You can share them once they're at your table, but you have to order your own.

I'd pay OOP and save the credit for another meal.

Via Napoli has a very strict approach to the dining plan. You can only order the individual pizza on the dining plan and you cannot use 1 credit to share a meal between 2 people.

It will probably be more practical to pay OOP at VN.

We ran into this a couple of years ago. I was dining at Via Napoli with friends who were on the DDP, but I had the TiW card. The waitress kept insisting that we each had to use a DDP credit and finally went to ask a manager, when I kept insisting I wasn't even on the DDP, so didn't even have a credit to use, and wanted to use the TiW card. She said she didn't think that was allowed, as only one discount could be used per table and the DDP was considered a discount.:headache::rolleyes1 When the manager finally came over, he rolled his eyes at her and told us it would not be a problem, that I could use my TiW card, but each of them had to order their own entree as no sharing was allowed on the DDP. He then looked at me again and said, you will of course not be allowed to share their food, since you are not on the DDP. Duh, I wasn't planning to. What's funny is that I also ordered their fried veggie appetizer sampler for all of us to share and she was hesitant if she was then allowed to let me use my TiW discount for that, since I had shared it with people on the DDP. I told her to go ask the manager, if she had a problem with it, but someone paying OOP could share with anyone they wanted. The people on the DDP had eaten part of an appetizer that was paid for OOP, I had not touched any food paid for with the DDP. She said yeah, but that appetizer got a discount because of the TiW discount and she didn't know if that'd be allowed. She huffed and made a comment that they had a restaurant policy of people on the DDP, not being able to share, but she'd let us get away with it this one time.:headache::sad2: That waitress was something else. Even though I had ordered more than they had, if I had reached for a sample off one of their plates, I think she probably would have slapped my hand. She was keeping such a close eye on us. lol

Yeah, we ate there right after it first opened and we were on the DDP. However, I thought I remembered they let us split a large pizza for 2 people and use that as the 2 entrees. I guess it really doesn't matter because that is clearly not the policy now. That is why for ease, I plan to pay OOP. It will probably end up being an expensive meal because we want to share alot of things there: the fried app sampler extravaganza, salad, pizza, SANGRIA! I love their pizza...so delicious. I wish I could have it right now! :wizard:

So if I order a pizza, and DH orders an entree, we are not allowed to try each other's meal? That sounds absurd!!

How annoying!
You are allowed to use the TIW card even if you use DDP anyway, so what's the big deal?
I get that each person on the DDP has to order their own meal, but if you are not on it, it doesn't apply to you.
Common sense, anyone? :headache:

No, as long as you both order an entre you can eat whatever you please!

Was there in August of 12, shared an individual pizza on DDP. No problems at all. Server didn't even blink an eye. :)

Per the waitress we had, the three that was on the DDP could share their entrees, but since I was paying OOP, I couldn't share theirs (even though I ordered an appetizer and entree OOP).:rotfl:

Your friends could have packed up their left overs and given it to you, how is that any different that you eating a bite of their food at the table? Maybe they should try harder for better customer service and less time being the food police.

Hello...I'm popping in here to ask a couple more questions. We have an ADR here in April. It is me, my mom, DS11, and DD9. We have the regular DDP, so we are 3 adults and 1 child. So, if we all want pizza, we all have to order individual pizzas, is that right? Are the individual pizzas the same as the regular pizzas that everyone raves about? Can you get any toppings we want on it, or order the signature pies, and still have it be included in the DDP?

Those individual pies are $19 each so I don't see how it would make sense to pay out of pocket for this meal? Am I missing something?

Secondly, they have a "family style house salad" on the menu for $7 per person. If we added that, would they automatically charge for all 4 of us? My DD doesn't eat salad but the rest of us do.

And finally, does anyone know if I can order San Pellegrino as my beverage instead of soda? Thanks!

If you're on the regular dining plan, the salad isn't included. You can order it for however many people you want as long as it's at least 2, I think. If you order it for 3 they should bill you for 3.

And finally, does anyone know if I can order San Pellegrino as my beverage instead of soda? Thanks!

It won't be included on the dining plan.

VN only lets you order the individual pies on the dining plan. You can order a signature pie or the basic build your own, but for that one any additional toppings will be OOP. VN's pizzas are all thin crust, wood fired and delicious.

Only the basic fountain drinks are included. San Pellegrino, Aqua Frescas, Limonata, Aranciata, etc will be OOP if you order them.

We are going in November and have the Deluxe DP. We were planning on eating at Via Napoli and using a credit but now I am not sure if we should just pay out of pocket and eat lunch there and go somewhere else for dinner since Epcot is full of great places to eat.

On a deluxe plan I cannot imagine paying for anything OOP! Just know the rules ahead of time and order accordingly.

I agree! We'll be on the Deluxe plan for 11 days in August, for a family of 5. Two adults, one disney adult (DD10), and two children, and I am not going to be a happy camper at all if I have to pay for anything other than tips and fun drinks. With what it costs, I do not plan on having to supplement with any more meal money. We do have a reservation at Via Napoli so I hope everything goes smoothly! Have a great trip!
