Adults Ordering Off Kid's Menu

Forgive me, I am sure there is a thread about this somewhere already, but I couldn't find it.

What's Disney's policy on adults ordering kid's meals at table service meals? I have an ADR for BOG, but I'm a vegetarian who can't eat their one vegetarian offering. I'd be content with ordering the kid's pasta but will I be allowed?

Shouldn't be a problem especially at a QS, some have mentioned on here that some TS restaurants (very few really) can be tough about this but most of the time adults can order kid's menu items. (I'm guessing you can't eat the quiche there? It was very good but if you can't eat eggs, well that would take it off your choices then;-) You shouldn't have any problem ordering the kid's pasta.:thumbsup2

After researching this, I have found that you can order off the kids menu. Most restaurants will make it an adult size portion and the price will be different than the kids meal.

At CS restaurants, I'm pretty sure they don't make you prove you're ordering for a child. If you want the child-size portion, just order it- nobody will raise an eyebrow. If you want an adult-sized portion of something on the kid's menu, most places will be able to accommodate you.

On a related note, McDonald's will sell you a Happy Meal even if you don't have a kid with you. ;)

I called Disney just a few weeks ago on this. My dd had a heart attack at age 21, and out diets are now, low fat, low trans fat, low sugar and low sodium. I was trying to figure this all out and it was a head ache, so I called the special diet at Disney. And during the conversation, I stated it would be easier if Disney made adult check meals like they do for kids now, I said honestly they are about the right size and they offer everything we need in a meal, maybe add a salad on the side. She said, be our guest and order them at any restaeraunt you like. She said there may be a place or tow in Epcot that will give you a hard time but just ask for the chef. I said really, for the same price, she said yes, if you are not alternating the size of portions or anything you can order any child's meal for the Same price. I went back and researched all the kids check meals, they are all within our diet, they are all between 450 and 600 calories, with low sugar, sodium and fat, if we do not alter them. So we will be eating off all the kids meals, we will get water, and then maybe order a kids side salad once a day. For us it may be a little bland, but they now have fish, and meatloaf and turkey pot pie, it is way easier, than not having to remove 5 ingredients from this sauce because of sodium, or cut the steak in thirds because we can only eat 3 ounces and not 8, or due away with desserts because of sugar. It is also way better than French fires and chicken nuggets like they use to have on the kids menu.

I would say go ahead and order the kids meal, want to have more than a kids portion you may need to ask for more and then the price will go up. Also, since I use to be a vegetarian and still eat a lot of meals this way, I asked about other options, and she said, if an ingredient e is on the menu for a dish, than ask for a chef and they can most likely cook the dish special for you, so if they have chicken couscous and vegetable medley, and you want couscous and vegetables, the chef can make you a special dish and charge you accordingly, she said to me on the phone it would be less than the chicken couscous even though special ordered because they don't charge for the special order only the food and since there is no meat then they can do it for less. Does that make sense. I would look over all the menus and see if there is a combination of something you would like and they can special make it for you, or go with the pasta.

Make a note that you have a dining restriction on your reservation. We were able to call a special diets number 24 hours before our reservations and discuss an alternate with the chef. I've even read that, at certain restaurants, the chef will make a vegan meal using tofu and other ingredients not on the regular menu. I don't know if every Disney TS restaurant does this, but I know several did.

As a gastric bypass patient I was told to have a doctors note with me for each individual restaurant....didnt really need it, the places we ate where great about it (via napoli, england).......however after the first couple of days, my wife and i just split an entree.

The real trick is specialty dinners....via napoli was great with the candlelight processional package, charging us the kids price....I have heard other stories not so positive around this issue as well
