Rob, Cass & Kira - "This trip is NOT going to suck!!!"-A Fall 2013 PTR -updated 9/23

Cute hair. I love the curls. I'm sure she'll appreciate it when she is older. As for the short hair issue, they use so much hair spray that your hair will not move for days. My dds hair had the same look the very next day after a night of sleeping. My dd has very fine hair but it is much longer than Kira. It took me forever to wash out all the hair spray. At one point I was wondering if all that hair spray was safe.

Oh my . I hear you with the curlies . My oldest DD has extermely curly hair. I have found that the longer I let her hair get, it does pull some of the curls down so... making it a bit easier to manage. But boy do we get tangles. Especially at the nape of the neck. Add to it the frizz...... and a mama who has no idea how to care for it.... fun times for my tweeny! :)

Here's a possible idea for BBB- if you want to keep her hair short. My mall sells 'temporary' hair extenders. For those woman who want non-perm extensions. Basically it's hair attached to those comby things (what the heck are they called again- the name has totally left me). You push it in hair (usually behind your hair) and poof- instant hair.

I bet you could find one of those... that matches her hair color. Have BBB slick back her shorter hair with bobby pins & then put the exension on the crown of her head... wrap up the fake hair in a bun and viola... instant 'princess updo'.

Bet you could find them on amazon too.... perhaps that would work? I dunno?! Just a thought....

I am pretty sure that BBB wouldn't be allowed to work with those. They have a restrictive license and really have to stick with what they are allowed to do.

Here's ten more 2009 layouts :goodvibes

I'm trying real hard to get this book done! :thumbsup2

Her little smiles are just adorable! ::yes:: Kids and characters are so cute.

Joining in! Our dates overlap a little, we will be in WDW October 22-30th. Really enjoyed all the updates so far, and I'm looking forward to the rest of your planning!

You GOTTA come up with some new lines dawg

Well, you guys were also on our 2005 cruise and that was our best cruise ever soooooo....I'm pretty sure it's not you guys

And this one is NOT gonna suck ;)

I remember that meltdown on the beach but can't remember what it was about?? What is about taking her meds??? :confused3

New lines? Me?:confused3 But Robin always melts like butter when she hears my old standby pickup lines..:lmao::rotfl:

Yeah Kiras meds were spilled in the sand on castaway cay and Sean told you guys to have her drink the medicine out of the sand.:rotfl::lmao:

We were hoping to get Addison to do BBB in July when we all go but those guys arnt sure she'd sit still long enough for it..(i think they just dont want to pay for it.:rotfl2:) maybe Robin and i will offer to pay...but then they'd want to get Carly done up too and Brady in the Pirates gear.

Love your plans so far! We will be going at about the same time as you. (30th October.) Seems to be getting so close!

Kira is adorable, and your dog Lilo is a cutie too. We have a lovely Labrador who loves golden retrievers.

Looking forward to hearing more, and sounds like you got some real bargains at the Disney store! ;)

That is one cute little princess you have there, Cass. I LOVE ALL the scrap book pages! :goodvibes

ok...I'm not really done catching up...I am still on page 6. I am awed by your spectacular digital scrapbook pages. I haven't had time to read your link on how this all works...so I'm confused. I have done digital scrapbooks before, but it just entailed dragging pictures into pre-designed layouts in Shutterfly. I guess its not really a digital scrapbook but more of a digital photo album. I like yours WAY better!! I left off my traditional scrapbooking at my spring break 2010 trip. I have like 1000 pictures from that trip and BOATloads of paper. I have spent so much money on scrapbooking supplies that I can't really convert yet. I have stacks upon stack of paper, stickers, die cuts. I have a Cricut die cut machine. I have adhesives, dozens of scissors. I'm a seamstress/artist and I'm very hands on! I would love to know how you make those pages that LOOK like they're made with cut outs, stickers and paper with ribbons but are not.

One little thing...I don't mean to be critical :sad2: but... your photo labeled Main Street Electrical Parade is actually Spectro-Magic! I love that parade..and I know that Mickey float very well. 2009 they were still running my beloved Spectro-Magic :lovestruc

If they can get a small ponytail on the top half, they can work with it. You know like the half head pony tail thing. If it's still too short, then they can at least gel her up and sprinkle the heck out of her, but I bet in the next 6 months or so you can get at least the top part long enough for a short half pony. No she probably can't do the bun style with that, or not as easily, but they should be able to do one of the extension styles.
Did you look through the 2 BBB threads? I know at one time I saw some pretty short hair, though I don't think quite as short as her hair is now. But they will do their best to do something special for her.

You need to take it easy and take care of yourself too. I am worried about you!

I think I looked at one of those threads but never found anything about short hair. I will have to go find the other! Thanks Jen

Omygosh, the crazy curl pictures are too cute! :lmao: I've got some curl myself, so I totally understand about the management issues. I straighten my hair most days to keep it under control, but as soon as it gets wet, all bets are off.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Thanks Susan  I actually started reading your pre-trippie and got totally distracted with work stuff :rolleyes2

Yikes!!! That doesn't sound good at all!

Thanks for the idea but I can barely get a brush through that kids head, I can't even imagine the drama if I tried that :p:lmao:

I agree, I love watching the characters interact with the kids, even when they are not mine! :goodvibes

OMG, they would all look so cute, especially all done up together!

 the new scrap pages!!!

Yes, October will be here before we know it :cool1:

Lilo had a brother (named Stitch, of course!) but we had to put him down in January when he got really sick. :sad1:

Loving all the pics Cass.

Thanks MG :thumbsup2

OMG you are SOOOO right!!! It IS Spectro!!! You know, when I was doing the layout, I had two things open, one for Spectro and one for MSEP and I guess I just chose the wrong one and then went with it!!!!

Thanks for catching that Mindy!!!!!! :worship:

I also have tons of SB stuff, papers, stickers, etc but I find I use them in other things so it's all good.

It's pretty easy, I just buy the digital stuff online and put it together in Photoshop. The photobooks you have made are similar but instead of using a pre-made layout, you just make your own! It's a great creative outlet :thumbsup2

KellyBell has a good sale on right now until the 8th so I am gonna go stock up :p

You won't get me on a Disney bus

In trips past, we have always rented a car, always! Now that I am completely spoiled by having one, I`m pretty sure I couldn't go without one! :sad2:

Prior to 2011, I had only ridden a Disney bus maybe three times and it was during off peak hours so it wasn't so bad.

Then in 2011, I went to a Disney training conference with my friend Michelle and we didn't have a rental car so we had to depend on buses to take us everywhere. While our experience wasn't horrible, she told me tales about her experience on Disney buses and what most people go through on those buses :scared1:

Firstly, I am heat intolerant. Being in the sun, or even just being hot triggers my Lupus and I start to feel very sick. All things considered, as long as I take a few precautions, I do pretty well in Disney World. If there is a shady spot, I am in it! If there is a breeze or a fan or A/C blowing somewhere, I will find it ::yes:: Since we are in and out of buildings most of the day, I can stay somewhat cool. I cannot watch a parade out in the sun so we either find a shady spot or I have to skip it and I won't join a long line that is in the sun.

So, one the best things about having a rental car is the ability to blast the air conditioning right on me :goodvibes

And I do this often! This is why you will always see Rob in a pullover even when it is 90ºF outside! He can't stand being cold, or even cool, for that matter and he knows I need the coolness so he comes prepared

In 2011, I noticed that the buses were actually quite warm and that is without many people on them! I can only imagine what it would be like having tons of hot, sticky, sweaty, stinky people cramming into those suckers on a warm day! :crazy2:

Secondly, I don't like people touching me. I like my own personal space ::yes:: And when I am hot, I am even more particular about people not touching me! Just ask Rob :rolleyes2 We will be waiting in a long queue and reaches up and tries to hug me or something and I just shoot him my "don't do it buddy!" look.

He has been with me a loooong time now. He knows this look instantly

Unfortunately, strangers don't know this look and I am amazed at how many people don't get it!!!

And it amazes me even more that other people don't appreciate the personal space bubble

Yes, I understand you may be tired and sore or bored or distracted. You want to hurry up and get on the ride...I get it. Really, I do. We are all in the same Disney boat. But positioning yourself right up my butt WILL NOT GET YOU THERE ANY FASTER!!!

:rolleyes2

Unless it is an accident, which can happen, you should not be touching me! No part of YOU should be touching any part of ME.

Period.

Now on the few Disney buses that Michelle and I took in 2011, I was repeatedly touched, bumped into, fell on, kicked, shoved and fondled! Yes, fondled!! :crazy2:

I swore then that unless it was absolutely necessary, I would never, ever, take another Disney bus again!!! :snooty:

A rental car allows me to have my personal space, personal air conditioning at full blast and gives us way more flexibility! We can be anywhere in 10 minutes or less and we don't even have to wait! When we are ready to go, we go! :thumbsup2

Yes, the Magic Kingdom is a bit of a pain to get to but I have been going there and doing the whole Parking Lot/Tram/Monorail or Ferry thing since 1975! It's all part of the MK experience for me. I have fond memories of my dearly late parents asking me where (or who) I think we will be parking in that time. And yes, it makes me deeply sad that they have changed the names of the parking lots :sad1:

Having a car also makes it really easy to get to resorts or offsite places to shop or eat.

Thankfully we are staying onsite so we don't have to pay for parking! ::yes:: When Rob and I first went together back in 1999, I think it was $6 or $7 a day to park, now it's like $482 or something

To be fair, we actually aren't doing much off site this trip. We will do a quick trip to Publix and maybe the Orlando Premium Outlets on Vineland but other than that, we are sticking to just Disney World.

I prefer to rent from Dollar but since we will be dropping off at Port Canaveral, we will be going with Budget. I got a nice rate with a code so that's always a bonus! :cool1:

And when we get off the ship, we will be doing a one-day rental from Budget as well so we can spend some time at Downtown Disney before we head for the airport around 2pm.

Sooooo, that's our transportation plans :p

I like the rental car too. So tired of buses...I like the ability to go when and where I want...I'm a bit of a control freak. :) Now I just wish prices would come down for May...they are ridiculous right now.

ITA with you on the Disney buses. I hate having to 'touch' strangers, really just when they are sweaty, smelly... And I am tired. ;) Plus, there never seems to be a bus when you need one!!! We have the Deluxe Dining Plan and it would be a nightmare to get to all the resorts by Disney transport to eat at a restaurant. Ugh.

I'm so sorry about Stitch. It's so hard losing a dog- they are part of the family. :(

Hi Cass!
Count me in on the people who won't use Disney transport. :rotfl2: I just HATE waiting for a bus, then having to stand on it in the middle of what feels like a gazillion people.
Yes, MK can be a drag, but I'd rather do that than getting on a bus! :thumbsup2

I'm sooo glad you brought this up! Can I interrupt this trip report with a question (or three)? I need your expertise???!

We have always used the Disney buses. First trip, we flew and we just didnt' bother renting a car. Second trip, we rented, but we only used it once to go offsite for some shopping.

DH loved the buses because he didn't have to contend with traffic or trying to follow directions, etc...

This time we are staying at Ft. Wilderness and I've heard lots of bad things about the multi-bus transfers, so I think we'll be driving.

So, how easy is it to get around?
Is the traffic bad within the Disney bubble?
Any tips or tricks?

Will the Disney parks show up on our GPS? I've heard conflicting reports on that one... If we can use the Garmin, we've got it made, it's even voice activated so it's super easy to use. If they don't and we have to use maps or street signs, DH may lose his :cool2:.

For the record, we're only planning on visiting: Epcot, DHS, BB, TL and DD (if that makes any difference).

I feel the same way Jill! I couldn't handle just showing up to a bus stop and just waiting around for my bus!! When I am ready to go, I wanna go!!! :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

The "sweet spot" for car rentals is usually about 1-2 weeks before so keep an eye out for prices to drop then hopefully :goodvibes

I agree! I don't know how people with the DxDP do it! :confused3

Thanks, we sure miss out Stitchy :sad1: It's been a really crappy year so far :worried:

For the record, we're only planning on visiting: Epcot, DHS, BB, TL and DD (if that makes any difference).

We've done 7 trips now with a rental so I know those Disney roads really well but I do remember our first trip and it was easy to find every thing! We even found some nice quiet back roads that we try to stick to too :cool1:

The one tip I can give you that I remember learning back in 1999 was if you are going to the resorts, you need to know what park they are closest to, that will help you. The first signs usually say something like Epcot Resorts Next Right...so if you don't know that Beach Club is an Epcot Resort, then you might miss the follow up sign and go past it.

But everything is WELL marked and except for a few sneaky ones, every exit has like 2 or 3 signs to warn you when you need to turn.

I have a really good sense of direction so we never use a GPS so I can't answer your question about that, sorry.

Traffic can be bad when people are going to the parks and leaving. We usually get there just before opening and never had any problems but leaving the parks near closing can be maddening! Stores remain open after park closing so we try to linger as long as we can so most cars have cleared out :thumbsup2

One of the back roads we used a lot when we stayed at SSR was the one that passed by Fort Wilderness. It can get tricky though going to and from the MK. If I remember correctly, we had to go past the Poly and loop back around to get into the MK parking lot. But I just looked at your list and it doesn't look like you are even going to Mk so you should be good :thumbsup2

We have a TomTom live GPS and WDW shows up just fine! No problem! :thumbsup2
