Wow, Target is closed today

Caught me off guard. In this 24/7/365 world, kind of caught me off guard.
Amazingly, every little mom and pop business in the strip malls around it appeared to be open as are all the fast food places.

I thought my employer was behind the times 2 years ago when they dumped Good Friday as a holiday.

We went out to eat and the Country Club mall was closed. I thought most places were open on easter.

Tried to shop there last year to learn that Easter is a big holiday for stores to close. I had no idea.....

Great to hear some retailers pause to reflect or respect those of us who believe...Alleluia, He Is Risen!

In my experience the same places that are closed on Christmas are also closed in Easter. Typically some restaurants are open abd the grocery stores that are open have limited hours. I've never known any of the major retailers to be open on Easter.

My sister and I were pleasantly surprised as well! I was proud of Target for closing lol

We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner, was surprised it was open.
Grocery stores were closed except for one and that closed at 4pm. All other stores/malls save for CVS and Walgreens all were closed today.

I've known for a few years that Targets were closed on Easter Sunday. However, we went out for lunch after church, and the local Italian restaurant we went to was packed.

We decided to head over to a nearby In-N-Out Burger. It was closed!! I wasn't upset, and in fact I was pleasantly surprised. We ended up at Abuelo's.

That's great! Wish all retailers would follow!

The mall near my house posted a sign that the mall was closed today, but Sears (one of the anchor stores) was open 10-6.

As a retail employee, I'm so glad that stores/malls are closed on Easter. I rarely get a holiday off with my husband (the next one will be Thanksgiving) so it's nice to spend the day together. I feel sorry for employees of stores that were open. I know eventually every place will be open, but I'll cherish it while it lasts.

Yeah, but Country Club doesn't even open early during Christmas shopping season. We are at the farmers market behind the mall every other Saturday about 9 am and it amazes me the mall is still closed.

I'm sure it's nice. My perspective is altered since my wife and I've spent the last 38 years working in an industry where "holiday" does not mean "day off". And since my mom was a nurse, growing up we celebrated a lot of Easters, Thanksgivings and Christmases after mom got home from work.
I know my MIL, who managed a law office, until the day she died, never understood jobs that don't take holidays off.

We had more stores open than I thought there would be. Our Walgreens was open.

I think along the Bible belt areas, stores may be closed more than in other areas.
