SHADES OF GREEN at Walt Disney World Resort Information & Questions

SOG will have a bus to the TTC and they run a bus to AK from there. I would check that one too.

The first TTC bus isn't until 8:30 (unless there is an EMH at MK or Epcot that morning, which there isn't) :)

Thanks for the quick and thorough response! With 14 people its a little like herding cats but I will follow your advice and start the process at 6:45!

When we were down in feb trying to get a large family to character meals, we found ourselves taking the van taxis more than once! They could fit 7-8 people each, and we're not expensive. Might be a good option for you? If not, don't stress, you will get there when you get there, and Tusker will seat you whenever you arrive!

not necessarily true. Does Tusker house now have a 'late' policy where they can charge you if you're a no show (and late, is considered a no-show to them).

I have looked at every rental, town car and shuttle. We found a town car service that only charges $150.00 round trip and a free 20 minute grocery stop. Needless to say it was the cheapest for us and worth it so we booked! Hoping it all turns out well!

We went with FL tours for a town car service and it's $129 roundtrip to Shades of Green, with a 30min grocery stop.

We really really like them and will be going with them again next trip.

Last trip to SoG in 2010 we used Tiffany Towncar and were very happy. This time, with a party of 14, it was cheapest to go with Florida Magical Tours and Transportation. Roundtrip for a 14 passenger van it is costing us $289. That is with a 15% military discount. That breaks down to $10 a person...pretty good deal we thought!

I was hours late, missing breakfast entirely, because of the transportation from our resort to AK. They seated us for lunch when my intention in going there was only to argue against the no-show charge. I thanked the manager, and she said they make every effort to accommodate people who are late since they understand transportation issues. Not that people should be encouraged to show up late, but if. We're herding 14 people to a breakfast, I'd be relieved to know I wouldn't be charged money and miss breakfast if we were 20 minutes late!

Thanks for the information on the late arrival to a reservation at Tusker House. Hopefully, I can get everyone there on time but if not, maybe the staff will be that nice to us too! :)

If anyone is interested on the SOG Facebook page they've got info up about the quiet pool renovations again. The memo says the renovations will start April 1st, with construction between the hours of 9am-7pm (and that the millpond pool will still be open during this time). Stated that the renovations will be done in 4 months and that the pool will reopen at the end of summer. There are also pictures. It looks nice and hopefully construction will run on time so people can plan accordingly.

Sorry if this was already posted here, I just didn't see anything about it and thought people might be interested. Since my family is traveling to SOG during the summer months, I know I've been interested in the plans and will be interested to get reports from people who go durning the renovation process and thereafter.

Wonder why construction is planned for the summer instead of the winter when the pools are less used? :confused3

Five months and two weeks! :cool1:
Five months and two weeks! :lmao:
Five months and two week!!!!

Well, it's better than five months and three weeks. :confused3

Hi. I'm trying to figure out our room request. I've read that the Magnolia wing was updated in 2009.

Is it nicer than the Palm now?

Do all the Magnolia rooms have 2 vanities like the Palm? Nice feature.

The only pics I can find on the web are of the Palm rooms.

I'm not interested in facing the pool due to noise, but somewhere in the C or D wing facing the pond/Gazebo and away froom pool construction of the rectangle pool. Otherwise, I'd probably be interested in the palm.

How is noise level of those above and is it better to get a top floor?

Thanks to you all, this is a great thread!

My personal fave are the rooms right off the lobby in the "new" section. I believe they are the 2102 area. Close to everything, overlooks the pond/gazebo and we have always found it to be very quiet. I read on here that someone stayed in that area and said it was too noisy for them. But I have never heard any noise. I mean there is always the rare moments when an excited child squeals in the hall, but that's about it.

I am thinking about visiting the World for a few days in mid February next year with a friend who has never been. Has anyone here been in February who can tell me about crowd levels and weather?
Thanks!!

We were there this year, the 13-26. School vacation started in Mass on the 16, and the crowd levels significantly increased. In addition, there was a marathon happening, and the south America tour groups were in full force. My suggestion would be to try the end of the month, and to avoid the holiday weekend. Weather was cool the majority of the time, we are northerners, and we needed sweatshirts most days and every night. I think we had 2 or 3 days where we could swim.

If you can, wait til the end of the month. Say like b/t the time pd of 21-28 Feb. That way you avoid tour groups, you don't have to worry about the Mardi Gras groups and the weather is more seasonal. I was there a few years back this week and it was great, crowds were low. The weather was anywhere from low 80s with low humidity during the day and cooler (think light jacket or hoodie) at night. :)
