The Official October 2013 Trip Planning Thread

Is there a special card to purchase that is used for payment of F&W festival items at the booths? I recall hearing people mention something they had on a lanyard... Perhaps I was mistaken?

Can DDP credits be used at F&W booths

It's just a regular Disney gift card that is either one a wristband, or a lanyard.

You can use snack credits on almost all the food options available at the F&W Festival.

My separate question is, only going to Disney in the summer months, what can I expect weather wise for late October early November?

I'm from NJ, so I know by default it should be warmer than up here for that time of year, but what am I looking at? Low 70s? 80s?

Hoping to change my ticker soon to show an October trip over my kids school break... fingers crossed that we can settle on dates before or after the 17th!

Cannot wait for MNSSHP and Hallowishes and Food&Wine!

Anyone know if they offer free dining or pacakges typically in Mid-October? I think the TAs honor the better deals if they come up after you book. Not sure if Disney does when you book directly through them.

I have a question (sorry) about booking ADRs I am really nervous that we won't get our tables if i am not prepared enough.
Can I book online as I have our Disney reservation to hand or do I have to phone America?
If I have to phone what information will they need from me?

I've got to book some ADRs for mum (they are going a week before us) and their ADR window starts tomorrow.

UPDATE - all booked and all times we wanted were available. Now got to wait to book the next batch in a weeks time. :)

Trip has officially been booked!
Will be there from October 19th - 28th, staying at AOA.

We will be there Oct 25-Nov 1 at POFQ SO excited!!!!!!! DD will be 6 and DS will be 4. I was very hesitant to go with their ages as I have never been younger then 11yrs old but we decided to go with it and book :) CANT WAIT!!!!!

Bring on the discounts though!

How are everyones plans going? Any schedules or ADRs worked out?
It is not long now and I am so excited!!!

Our first trip was last year, and my son had just turned 5 a month before. We had a wonderful time and he still talks about it. Yes, there were a few rides he couldn't go on, but it was amazing to see his reaction to the characters. At the younger ages, they truly believe in all the magic! When we met Woody & Jessie, that was really them. The first characters we met were Pooh & Tigger, and it was so funny. The characters are so good at interaction with little ones. Hope you have a fantastic vacation!

I just started working on daily touring plans last weekend. I'm hoping to have a rough idea for each day before April 22, which is our 180 day mark. Right now we're planning 'Ohana breakfast, Coral Reef, Tusker House breakfast and Sci-Fi Drive-in. I really want to try BOG too, but think we'll stick with QS lunch. I also need to figure out what night to buy MNSSHP tix for.

My magical date is April 9 so I am getting close. I have a general idea set up and will talk to my parents, also in the party, this week to get their openions on meals. I know some of the ones I was thinking of are Tusker House (last breakfast seating to go into lunch), Cape May, Garden Grill, MM for Fantasmic. But.... need to get the rest of the family's ideas also. I need one for MK and want to BOG but will prob just do lunch.

My ADR date is april 25 :( it feels sooo far away...
Anyways, I have them ready, we are going to CRT and Kona for the first time, and repeating Chef Mickey and Tutto. I can't wait to try all the yummy Disney food

Just coming back to update my dates for this thread. I previously advised I'm be there 2 - 8 October.

I'm now straddling across September and October. ADR opens up in about 4 days.

Checking in on 9/29 and checking out 10/7. I'll be at the Beach Club Villas. Looking forward to it.

Hello All...Nine of us will be traveling Oct 26-Nov 3 and have ressies at POR in the Royal Rooms. Am hoping that Disney continues the Military discounts on rooms again. Our reservations specialist sees no problem since Disney has done it for several years. That will give us a great discount on the rooms.
What does everyone use for planning their trips. I am new to this and want grandkids to have a GREAT trip.

So, I have one slot left to fill for dinning reservations and I am trying to choose between Jiko, California Grill, and Flying Fish. We are a family of five (DD -7,7,9) staying at Poly, early October. Any suggestions/thoughts???

We're military as well and I'm so nervous! I'm sure that they'll continue the discount, but we can't reserve rooms until they announce it, which makes me nervous!

Hi fellow October Dis! I just found this thread - can't believe it has taken me so long as I have been planning/saving for our first family trip for like 2-3 years now, been on the DIS for about 2 years?!?! :surfweb:

We're going October 18-27, staying at POR - GV (currently, might change if a good discount comes out). I've been on the Oct discount thread a lot, and lurk on Disboutiquers too.

I used to worK at WDW as a CP in 1995, but other than a quick side trip to Marketplace (DTD or DS) in 2000, I haven't been back since. I am SO excited to be going with my family - DH has been to MK only once when he was little and this will be the 1st trip for DD and DS. We'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary, and a belated 5th and 41st birthday for DD and DH.

We will be at POR at the same time.... I'm doing a solo trip from Oct 20-26 staying POR with a river view room.

I think the discounts they give are great. I hope they continue them as well. My SIL & BIL took advantage on the tickets when they came down with us in December. Do you know when they announced it last year?
