Best hotels under $150 near Disneyland?

Within a 5 minute drive of Disney and with a pool. The Howard Johnson looks like it has an awesome water park pool but crappy rooms.

We're local but about an hour or so away from Disney and would like to make a weekend stay out of it to feel like a real vacation

First, define crappy rooms and what you are looking for in a room?


We stayed at Hojo last March and had a great experience. We had a room with 2 queen beds in the building next to the kids pool/water park area. The room we had was very clean and well kept, no problems at all. It was nice having a sink outside the bathroom as well as inside so we could be getting ready at same time, or using the outter sink area to prepare breakfast etc. Their rooms come with Keurig coffee makers which was a nice perk, I love my k-cups!

I would stay there again.



This year we are staying at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel due to some rave reviews from "in real life" friends who've stayed there multiple times as well as some good rviews on here recently. And for $75 a night, the price is great! It is a slightly shorter walk than the Hojo and has an Olympic size pool which my son is excited for.

The anaheim Marriott is great! I think you can get rooms in the 120s to 130s range. Not sure how far it is, but they do have shuttles and a starbucks. Great newer renovated rooms, too.

The Sheraton Park hotel is available for sometimes in May for $129 right now. We stayed there in May and loved it and are going back again in May. It is a fifteen minute walk to the park.

The topic of hotels is very subjective - what is a dump to one person is a fine place to stay to another - everyone has their standards and they are going to vary greatly.

Clearly you have a price range in mind - $150 will get you a decent place to stay - a respectable name that should be consistent. There are plenty to choose from especially if you are willing to take a shuttle.

Double Tree, Sheraton Park both have rates below that mark and have good reviews on Trip Advisor - when planning a trip it should be your new best friend.

We stay in the Kids Suites at the Hojo - they are newly renovated and we love the extra space, bathroom and bunk beds - otherwise we would not choose it.

You can get rates at the Sheraton for less than 150$ ( 113-135 average ) through Last minute travel with a gift card for use at the hotel. Parking *will* cost you quite a bit though however you can walk to the park.

I would not say the rooms at the HOJO are crappy at all, I think they are excellent, and I have stayed at some of the best hotels in the world and payed $1,000 a night. HOJO is just perfect for us.

We love the Hilton Anaheim. Large, clean rooms with many amenities on-site, such as fitness center, pool, Starbucks, restaurants, gift shops, etc...

Plus, the ART drops off right across the street at the Marriott, the Toy Story Shuttle is a 3-4 minute walk, or you can just walk the 15 minutes to DLR if you prefer.

The staff is wonderful - we've dealt with everyone from maids to front desk supervisory staff and have nothing but great experiences from everyone!

You can get them on LMT for $75-$80 per night, however, I had a really nasty experience with them recently. I realize it was probably just a glitch, however, the Hilton Anaheim often puts out specials that would enable you to stay there for $100-$125 per night by going direct.

For me, I want to be as close as possible. I was really happy with Best Western Park Place Inn for that.

It was our first choice before we decided to stay onsite at the Grand Californian. The top floor ones could be a problem for those who are sensitive to light coming in the arched windows.

I would never stay at Hojo unless the price was less than $70/night. Our room was very noisy. Yes we were on the I-5 side. I really like the Candy Cane Inn. They do a great job keeping it in good condition and the staff is excellent.

The rooms at Hojos are not noisy! They are actually some of the most quiet rooms I have stayed in around Disneyland. (and we have stayed in many--I am making it my mission lately to get a sampling of motel rooms around there!)

The only exception is if you stay on the I-5 side (read: cheap side). We haven't stayed in any of those rooms at Hojos, and if you do you know what you are getting by the price you are paying.

If you are happy with a 5 min drive, most of the places down Harbor in Garden Grove are nice. Embassy Suites south is one of our favourites. If you want to drive down Katella a few minutes, then Ayres Inn Anaheim ( not Orange) is very nice. Both of these include full hot breakfast.

The Kids Suites are on the highway side (which means nothing now with the sound proofing they have done) but to say cheap side is not correct since the Kids suites are their upper category rooms - in fact with an AP discount our rate is still $195 per night.

My wife and kids and a couple of her girlfriends stayed at Residence Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove just a couple miles from Disneyland last week. It's 1BR suites with full kitchen in the $150 range. Daily hot/cold breakfast with homemade waffles. Rooms were pretty nice and lots of kids activities. They really, really liked it.

huh....I must have gotten lucky - our room was in the building next to the kids pool and on the main floor. I didn't find it noisy at all! Yeah I heard pitter patter of feet upstairs but nothing that was disruptive or interrupted conversation etc.

One thing to make sure you take into account is parking fees. I love Anaheim Hilton, one of my fav. places to stay, however, when you are calculating your $150 a night, make sure you add the $17 parking fee and if you use the internet, $10 per computer. Anaheim Marriott is $24 but free internet. I don't mind paying for parking, but if I am comparing dollars, I like to know all the dollars involved.

I too like Hojos, rooms are nice, the ones we have stayed in have been quiet and nice. Kids love the pools.

Candy Cane is one of our top choices. We prefer the Premium rooms, usually $179 a night, no parking or internet charges. The deluxe rooms are usually in the $139 range.

We also like Fairfield (parking is $11 but free internet.)

We stayed at the HOJO in Dec 2007 on the "cheap side" and didn't have any issues with noise from I-5 and we had an 11 month old with us who would not have been happy with any noise as we live in a very quiet area so he's used to almost no noise at night.


We now stay at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel due to price, room size and location. It's less than a 10 min walk for us and that's with DH pushing a double stroller weighing approx. 65 lbs with the kids in it and our 6 year old DS walking.
