Is there anyway to prepay for a cake? I want to order one for a client going at the end of May... just a simple Phineas and Ferb themed cake. Nothing crazy.

I ordered a cake to be picked up at the POR food court and was told they're going to charge my card when they put my order in, in a couple weeks. I didn't think it worked that way, so take it with a grain of salt lol

My DD is graduating from High School in May and we are going to WDW to celebrate. Is there a way to have chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room? We are staying at POR.

I was hoping to possibly surprise my three nieces, that are in Disney right now, by having cupcakes delivered to their room. However, they are staying at Saratoga Springs, and I see on the info page that you'd have to pick up your order at Artist's Palette. Anyone have any experiences where they were able to deliver to a room at Saratoga? Otherwise I guess I can ask their parents where they are dining, but I was really hoping to surprise them all!

Thanks!

Pretty much mirrors my thoughts. If you replace the blue with green you are in essences replacing the sky with grass so the entire design would need to be altered. Which is possible without a doubt.

Another thought would be leaving the sides design as is and doing a green top, to make that look like grass, and the characters having a picnic on the grass.

That sort of makes it end up as 2 different themes combined, clubhouse with sky on the sides and grass on top. Would just have to ask the chef to see what he says.

I think it would look strange unless they changed it up and altered the design. The fondant is blue because it's the sky behind the clubhouse. If the fondant was green you wouldn't want the clouds that are on there. It might still look okay with green, but it wouldn't give the same overall look the cake has with sky/grass as it is. JMO

I'm sure they could come up with some MM clubhouse design that used a green background though, if that's what you want! :thumbsup2

ETA: Now that I think about it...if the fondant was green it might look like the characters were having a picnic on top of the cake! That would be pretty cool! I just wouldn't use the little clouds around the sides, that's all. They probably could replace those with something else easily enough!

Thank you for the picnic idea! I knew the blue was supposed to be the sky, that's why I wasn't sure how it would look if it was green. I'm thinking I'll just let them know he wants a clubhouse theme and his favorite color is green and let them come up with something. I'm sure whatever they come up with will be better than anything I can think of!

I haven't gotten done looking through the whole thread and the older ones so I haven't seen too many, I was just wondering if the boardwalk bakery is able to do the stand up white chocolate pictures like the CR and GF do. I heard the Boardwalk does pretty nice cakes like the other two bakeries. But haven't seen as many from them yet.
Thanks.

Yes. :thumbsup2

Every cake I've ordered hasn't been charged until it was delivered, and then it was either on the restaurant bill or the hotel bill. I think that it might be difficult to get them to diverge from this common practice, even if one person you talk to says they will charge X card, the actual charge may be put through by someone else who's not aware of your special arrangement.

You'd need to call POR at the number listed in Post #2 and see if this is something they can get for you. It's not a standard option.

Thanks for all your help!

Maybe it's me, but the number listed for Saratoga doesn't seem to work? I tried just calling the main number and the CM who answered did not quite understand what I was asking for and transfered me to my brother's room! I am going to try again later on today. I guess I should ask for Private Dining? I didn't think of that while I was on the phone, of course.

I did find out that they have an ADR at sci-fi on Wednesday and I called to see if they could deliver Easter cupcakes for me. The CM is going to check with the bakery and get back to me tomorrow! I'll keep you posted!

I'd maybe give it a week? You have so much time that your message may be lower on their priority list right now.

Not unless you went to the Contemporary to pick up the cake and then brought it with you to dinner. The Contemporary does not supply cakes for Yacht & Beach Club restaurants because that resort has its own pastry team. They are quite competent, they just seem to charge more than the Contemporary...

So I took your suggestion and gave the CM a week more to respond before I sent a follow up email.

I emailed him on 3/6 and his response on the same day was "The Bakery is trying to decide what would be the best cake for you at the moment. I do apologize for any inconvenience."

On 3/23 I sent a follow up email asking if there were any update on the cake designs I had sent. Later that same day I got the following response "Hello I am sorry it took so long to reply. We unfortunately can’t do the splash mountain theme. The chef said that he is getting me a quote for the other two cakes so we can make a decision. And again thank you for choosing Disney’s Yacht & Beach Resort and Walt Disney World. Have a magical day!"

I feel like I'm getting a bit of a runaround. The response on 3/6 seems like a "buying time" type of response. And then again when I inquire on 3/23 he he says he's getting quotes on the two other designs.

Give it another week if it's just coming down to a price quote?

P.S.

The designs I'm inquiring about are designs I pulled off of these threads that were created by WDW chefs. We would have liked the Splash Mountain design that I submitted but of the three it was last on our list.

It's very possible that your request is at the bottom of their priority list. I don't know if it's the case, but you very well may be getting the runaround. They're probably working on cakes that need to go out soon & just haven't had the time to deal with your request. I know it isn't what you want to hear, but I wouldn't worry until the end of June. They prefer the requests come in 48 hrs. to 2 weeks in advance. Since you want a custom cake, I would start getting concerned, if I wasn't working on final details a week out. There's less chance of having your order get lost in the mix, if you wait until closer to your date to place it. Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm just trying to relieve your stress, & let you know you don't need to worry yet. A Splash Mountain cake sounds cute. I hope you get a fantastic cake in the end, whichever design you choose. :)

Thank you for the response and no offense taken, your advice is appreciated. I'm a planner and this is the last "big" thing on my list for our WDW trip. Priority to me, not so much to others. I get that. What I would appreciate would be if that was the case for the CM to explain it jsut as you did. Essentially, we're really busy as you can imagine. Woul it be OK if we reconnected in 2 months time when your event is closer so that I can provide you the proper level of attention.

Something along those lines. Oh well. Thanks.

Saratoga Springs doesn't have a private dining department. That number was supposed to take you to Artist's Palette (Palate? I can't remember if they go for a play on words there or not... :teeth: ). I'd call the main number and ask to be connected to someone in the food and beverage department. :thumbsup2

tarheelmjfan captured my thoughts exactly! :goodvibes I don't think they mean to give you the runaround—it can just be tricky to express things politely through email.

Yay! I found more pictures of my DD's bday cake. I completely forgot that I had taken my camera on that trip.:confused3

Here's a few showing more detail: (sorry the pics are so big.....I have to play on photobucket a bit yet)

This is so cute! How much was it? And which bakery made it?

I have a few questions and I hope someone here can help. First, what is the current price for the slipper dessert?? We are having dinner @ CRT on our upcoming trip and I was thinking about this for my niece who is 7. I noticed someone had a picture of a crown @ CRT, any idea the price for this??

Also, we have booked a boat to see wishes (just the 7 of us) to celebrate my nephew's 4th birthday. I really don't know anything about this as I did not make the arrangements but I wondered about having a cake for him on the boat. Do you think this would be possible and if so, who or where do I call?

I was also considering just getting a cake from a bakery @ WDW if I can. Would they be likely to carry cakes that I could just go get or would I have to pre-order?

Thanks for the help!

I believe my slipper was $14.50? I know it was under $15 (this was on dec 12th). Not sure on the cake issue. I would pre-order but check the Disney site regarding specialty cruises. I know you can arrange with Disney dining for things like champagne, etc.....

We got the slipper earlier this month at CRT. (DGD is enjoying a bit in siggy pic below)
It was $12.50, plus tax/tip

The crowns are part of a package. The small crown package is $112, the larger crown package is another $17. I do not know if you can get the crown only. Well, I know you can buy it over at the store across the way from CRT but you'd have to do that yourself. The package includes a balloon and a 6" basic cake
