My family snorkeled at cc in 2008. They weren't impressed with the area. Since then there have been upgrades at cc. Is the snorkeling better there now?

Thank you!

Don't know, but they have a Catamaran cruise & snorkel that we are going to try next month. It is an excursion, so more $$, but an option?!?
I searched & found decent reviews on it.

We did the cruise and snorkel excursion last July. Nice crew, very professional. We still wouldn't do it again. There were just too many passengers. Thank and that fact that, once in the water, the staff keeps you very confined to a small area of water. We were constantly bumping into each other and any marine life got out of Dodge quick with all of us chopping the water up.

when we snorkeled in the lagoon not sure if much has changed but they still have all the sunken items and mickeys they may had added a few pieces.

Yes, it has gotten better. There are definite beginnings or coral on the reef starters that they sunk way back when, as well as a much larger assortment of fish to see. Even some really cool tube worms! It's not Hawaii, or even Cozumel, but is 100 times better than it was back in 2008!

I know what you are talking about. When we did the snorkel in 2006 the water was really dark and we could not see much. I did a search while trying to plane our next trip and found this video. You can skip to the 2 minute mark to see the snorkeling.

We went in Dec 2007 and it was okay and we just went back this past April and I was really surprised at what they had added. Quite a bit more things in the water now to see. I was really glad that we went back out and did it again. I only really went out this time to get an under water photo of my boys with the Mickey statue and now there is a Minnie too and some other things.

I meant just snorkeling off shore at cc on your own.

Not the best snorkeling I've seen but that may not be fair to CC. You have to get out a bit to see much. They are trying to cultivate some corals and stuff they've sunk. They have tangs, wrasses, damselfish, and gobies that I saw. I'm sure there were others that I've forgotten. A reef it is not but we enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it last May. Went into the water several times. It was best in the morning while the water was still clear. As the day went on it became more cloudy.

Thank you. Was deciding whether to bring their snorkeling stuff.

I think it's worth bringing snorkeling gear. It was more fun checking out the stuff they've sunk out there. Being a former submariner I got a kick out of the submarine. It's worth doing IMO but it likely won't be anywhere near the top of your best snorkel experiences. Definitely go early before the water gets cloudy.

One suggest I would have is to get out earlier in the day. As time goes by more snorkelers and swimmers tend to get the sand stirred up and visibility decreases accordingly.
