"I'M STUCK IN DISNEY!!!!!!!!" A Delightfully Unliveable TR ~ NEW TR 9/27!!!!!!!!!!!

OCTOBER 24, 2012
Day 4, Part 4 In Which I Am Not Your Mother, BREAK THOSE PLATES!

While in the Mission: Space dump shop, I traded my Vinylmation again. This time I got a mint chocolate chip sundae cone...? What was with all the frozen treat Vinylmations this day?!

A5_rXJzCIAAOtak.jpg:large

Definitely wanted to re-trade that one too. I had two Vinyls I bought from the Disney Store prior to the trip that cost $10 for both, so I was really hoping to find two I loved... you will just have to stay tuned to see if that happened!

Look... a (not-so) Hidden Mickey!

8535769688_64695b0fcf_z.jpg

So, off we headed to Mouse Gears in search of Michael Jackson stuff. I knew that whether or not there was Captain EO merch in there, Lee-Anne was going to go crazy, so I settled in.

OH HOW I LOVE THE HALLOWEEN STUFF.

8535781276_8d7b6f4424_z.jpg

Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize... and eat yogurt pretzels.

8535769800_442e0229fb_z.jpg

I discovered this awesome shirt:

A5_t3G2CEAA0D6s.jpg:large

HAHAHA I love it.

I asked a CM if they had any Captain EO stuff and they said no, that it was no longer in the parks at all. Lee-Anne said it was fine and she would just order something online. She shopped a bit more and then asked where she could get hot water because she had brought some of that magic echinacea tea I gave her so that she could keep drinking it and feel even better! So we went into the Electric Umbrella.

8535769954_daee27fe60_z.jpg

I hadn't been in there in so long - I forgot how cool it is inside! It kind of reminds me of retro Epcot. I mean, I didn't even go to Epcot until 1998 but whatever.

Next, we headed over to World Showcase because it was nearing our Toy Story Mania fastpass time!!!!!!! So we had to catch a Friendship Boat over to Hollywood.

This cranberry bog was in the middle of Epcot and that just made me laugh. Oh how I love you, Food and Wine Festival.

8535770220_eac8708511_z.jpg

I just really wish it was my job to write on Disney pavement with chalk.

8535770338_4ff66a67be_z.jpg

Off to Hollywood!

8534673503_4ffd43b2c6_z.jpg

8535770466_4f99321074_z.jpg

It was like my 8402984092th ride on Toy Story Mania, but Lee-Anne's FIRST EVER! I kept telling her how utterly unbelievably MAGICALLY FUN it was, but I go on and on about how great everything in Disney is so much so I don't think she thought much of it. So she really had NO idea.

Oh, so here's another photo of me looking amazing.

8535781468_e5aa5f20db_z.jpg

I was just really into modeling the glasses. Hire me, Disney.

8534674427_2bdbd2cfca_z.jpg

Here we are in our car ready to go play with all the other toys!

8535782382_3252259fb4_z.jpg

We do not look thrilled enough!!

8535782528_987909f531_z.jpg

THAT'S BETTER.

Obviously, Lee-Anne absolutely loved this ride. If she hadn't, I would have checked her pulse because it is the best thing that has ever happened to planet earth. I think this was her favorite besides Peter Pan's Flight.

If I recall correctly, she did alright, but OBVIOUSLY, I killed her in the scores. Just like I do to everyone. Muhahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was really the only thing we had time for in Hollywood, because we had to make our way over to the WILDERNESS LODGE!!!! FOR DINNER!!!!!!!! AT ARTIST POINT!!!!!!!!!!!

Up Next: ARTIST FREAKING POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try looking at the pins! I know even recently they had pins with the Captain EO movie poster.
Also, if you can get over there the Character Outlet store had plush versions of Captain EO's sidekicks. The last time we were there, my daughter comes running up to me claiming to have found a "rat with butterfly wings". :lmao:
She loves her Fuzzball and sleeps with him most every night.

I love Captain EO!

It's great to hear LeeAnn started feeling better so soon.:cool1:

Thanks for the echinachea and the AOA is next to Pop tips! Who knew? (probably everyone but me) Still, your TR and...:disrocks:

OMG! Your Walt pin is the best!! :faint:

Hi Lia,

Glad to hear that Lee-Anne started feeling better.

I actually have one of the Captain EO buttons as they were giving them away when I was at Disneyland last year. They're nothing amazing, similar to the "I'm Celebrating" style you can get at Guest Relations for birthdays, etc.
Looks like this,

http://thedisneyblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/eo-pin1.jpg

But, if you have an address to send it, I would happily send it along for Lee-Anne, since she's such a big fan. I understand not wanting to give out an address on here, but maybe you have a work address or PO box that would be more private?

It's totally up to you, but as I said, I be more than happy to send it if you like. :goodvibes

Hanson!! After reading about your concert experience I am now convinced I must go see them sometime. Jamming to "If Only" at work today may have also had an influence.

So glad Lee-Ann felt better! Being ill at Disney for even an hour is a downer. If you make it back over to AoA on your upcoming trip, make sure you visit the Cars section at NIGHT! It's great during the day but still more awesome with the neon on.

Storytime: Back in 2010 when my family went to Disneyland, I dragged them all to Captain EO because the one and only time I had seen it previously was when I was really young, and I was SO EXCITED to see it while I was old enough to remember it. When it was over, my family all looked at me like, "What did we just see?" and I was all, "CAN WE SEE IT AGAIN RIGHT NOW PLEASE?" They thought I was crazy. Parents just don't understand. :cool1:

I looooove that Beauty and the Beast shirt! I was actually looking for it tonight at our local Disney Store, but sadly their collection of adult shirts is small.

Pictures while wearing 3D glasses are mandatory!

You are making me just crave my October trip. Seriously, your trip report is fantastic, and I want to read it all right now, so if youcouldpleasehurryupandpostitnow!

It's so exciting to be all caught up because that means I actually get to comment on updates. A novel concept.

I canNOT wait to see AoA in person. It looks magical!! The good news is I'll be pretty close by on my next trip, so I'll get to pop right over. ;)

I hope Lee-Anne had a great bonding experience with Captain MJ!

YAYYY SO GLAD SHE LOVED TSMM! I truly don't even understand people that don't absolutely love it. It just doesn't register in my brain as being real.

AoA really does look like it was awesomely done! I'd love to see it sometime!!

Too bad Lee-Ann wasn't able to find any Captain EO merch!

Ahhhh AP is one of my favorite Disney restaurants! Can't wait to see how you liked it!! :goodvibes

OMG AoA, I love it there! We were only there for one night, and I had no time to look around, because hello, it was our first day in Disney, and I couldn't be bothered to actually stay at the resort when I was dying to get into the parks, but what I did see of it was perfect! I definitely want to stay there again!

But I really hope I can go back in October, even if it's only for a few days, because I can not even tell you how much I miss MNSSHP and Food & Wine.

Wahhh. This. I've been missing Food and Wine and Halloween at Disney SO much lately! I mean, I have a December trip booked, and I love Christmas at Disney more than any other time, but I really hope I can go in October, just for a long weekend. I don't think that's asking too much!

Glad Lee-Anne was feeling better, it's just not right to miss any amount of Disney because you're sick!

I haven't seen Captain EO in forever, maybe I should check it out the next time I'm there! I don't even remember what it's about, but if it's Michael Jackson saving the world by dancing, that's good enough for me!

Isn't trading Vinylmations so much fun??? I'm SO mad that they cut down on places to trade. One of the best places to trade was the Mission Space shop, the CM's there let you pick so many times, and would ask if you were looking for anything specific...now I think there are only 2 places you can trade in Epcot.

I'd love to be a CM and draw on the ground in chalk all day! That poor girl looks like she could use some sunscreen, though!

YAY TSM!!! I'm so happy Lee-Anne loved it, although how could you not, it's one of the best Disney rides ever!!!

That is so cute!!! I would love one of those stuffed animals! Thanks for the tips! :thumbsup2

Yes, the magic tea did not let us down, thank goodness!

You're welcome!! I'm happy to help!

My sister bought me that from Disneyland! I was sooo happy when I opened it. I would NEVER trade that one!

Hi Lia,

That is so incredibly thoughtful of you! I am going to let her know and I will get back to you!! :goodvibes

You absolutely must go see them if you like their music even a little bit. They are just unbelievable live performers and never give anything less but 100%. I mean, I have seen them 50 times and never thought they were lacking. They're just the best.

That's a good tip! I will try to check it out at night, thanks!

hahaha I think a lot of people are underwhelmed by Captain EO b/c it is just so outdated and weird, but that is why I absolutely love it. I do miss Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, though!

Is it even available at the Disney store? I thought it was a park only item! I know it's on the Disney store website though.

I agree! :thumbsup2

You are making me just crave my October trip. Seriously, your trip report is fantastic, and I want to read it all right now, so if youcouldpleasehurryupandpostitnow!

Aww, thank you so much! I will try to post as much as possible!! Yay for going in October, the best time to go in my opinion!!

So true! And Lia, you and Lee-Ann look amazing in them!:3dglasses How do you do that? :cool2:

Yeeeeeessssssss! Now!!!::yes::

THANK YOU!!!!!! I find Disney garb just accentuates our already fabulous features. :cool1:

It's so exciting to be all caught up because that means I actually get to comment on updates. A novel concept.

Yay, I'm glad you're caught up!

That's perfect!!! You must visit, I really can't stress it enough!

She did! I think she was pretty much too overwhelmed with it to even speak!

I know. My mom likes it but that's about it and I just do not understand anything but being completely OBSESSED. As I've said, it's my crack-like addiction, only more intense!!!

AoA really does look like it was awesomely done! I'd love to see it sometime!!

Too bad Lee-Ann wasn't able to find any Captain EO merch!

Ahhhh AP is one of my favorite Disney restaurants! Can't wait to see how you liked it!! :goodvibes

YOU MUST SEE IT!!!!!!! Maybe on your Disneymoon? :bride:

She bought a T-shirt online, but she actually told me she doesn't even WEAR it that much b/c it's so special to her. MJ stuff is sacred!

I. LOVED. IT. I don't think we're going back on our next trip and it's breaking my heart but I just don't know where to fit it in!

OMG AoA, I love it there! We were only there for one night, and I had no time to look around, because hello, it was our first day in Disney, and I couldn't be bothered to actually stay at the resort when I was dying to get into the parks, but what I did see of it was perfect! YAY TSM!!! I'm so happy Lee-Anne loved it, although how could you not, it's one of the best Disney rides ever!!!

Ahh at least you got to stay there! I am dying to!

I feel the same way about the long weekend thing. #BirthdayFestivus13 is so epic that I know I probably can't go back to Disney anytime soon but I am crossing my fingers for at least a few days in October! I NEED F&W AND MNSSHP!!!!!!!!

Definitely check out Captain EO again!! Trust me, it's worth it for the amazing dance alone but it is also the most 80's thing that has ever existed.

AHH YES I LOVE VINYLMATION TRADING. I am so mad that they cut it down. You have no idea. I have a ton I want to trade on this upcoming trip and I really hope I find ones I love!

I had the same thought about the sunscreen... yikes.

Yeah, it was definitely one of her favorites, but how could it not be?!

OCTOBER 24, 2012
Day 4, Part 5 In Which The Deer and the Antelope Play

Oh, I was so excited!!!!

The Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorite resorts and I had heard such great things about Artist Point. I could not wait to try another Signature as well!

8534674823_a69b08e4fe_z.jpg

I hadn't been back here in a few years so I was just like bouncing my way in there.

8535770898_7d003dd64c_z.jpg

I LOVE this giant fireplace.

8535772488_6a9e3be35b_z.jpg

On my next trip, I've carved out some time to spend here and I absolutely cannot wait. I love this resort so much and it's just so relaxing and beautiful to me.

Of course, being that we were going to the fancy Artist Point, I wanted to change my outfit. So did Lee-Anne, but sadly she forgot hers back in the room! I told her not to worry about it, Michael Jackson T-shirts are the best anyway so I doubt they would have a problem with it.

After my costume change!!

8535782882_65319ceef3_z.jpg

I mean, you can dress up but you still gotta have the Disney in there. :D I actually have a pink dress that has a huge Mickey head on it as well, and I love wearing it to formal events. It's just so much more fun than a dress WITHOUT a mouse head on it.

We went up and checked in at Artist Point where we only waited a couple of minutes before being seated. Our waiter was a very quiet and nice guy who was very attentive the whole time. The place really wasn't busy at all, and it was such a nice, peaceful environment. I was so happy!

We ordered our drinks. I noticed some children had Mickey Mouse straws and so I immediately requested one.

8534663637_eaf9585a77_z.jpg

Lee-Anne didn't ask for one but he brought her one anyway!

8535771710_49512142a8_z.jpg

Next he brought the bread! I'm not crazy about sourdough bread, but this actually hit the spot. The oil and butter was too delicious. YAY FAT!

8535771502_19ff957a5e_z.jpg

OH MAN THIS MENU.

8535771124_06de6d9d9a_z.jpg

I *love* gourmet food - well, obviously. But like, I love when I look at a menu and it has dishes I recognize but with so much amazing added flair with flavor combinations I've never heard of.

I wanted at least 389239 different things here. It was SO FUN having the prices not even matter because we had the discounted DDP. Oh, it was so beautiful.

Here is what I was deciding between once I narrowed it down:

1. All-Natural Kurobuta Pork Tenderloin with Yukon Gratin, Root Spinach, Heirloom Moonshine Apple Ketchup and Pomegranate Pork Jus $33.00

LIKE. This is what I mean. Obviously I recognize what pork, gratin potatoes, and spinach is. But HEIRLOOM MOONSHINE APPLE KETCHUP?!!?! Moonshine, apples, and ketchup is never something I would combine. I mean, WHUCK? I was also excited about the Pomegranate Pork Jus, because I love pomegranate anything. I don't know why it's "Jus" and not "Juice", but I'm not a chef so whatever. I'm sure it means something.

2. Slow Roasted 64 C Buffalo Strip Steak with Zellwood Corn-Sausage Hash, Yukon Gold Potato Smear, and Blackberry Pinot Noir Reduction $43.00

3. Crispy Buttermilk-dipped Airline Chicken - with Herb Spaetzle, Fava Beans, Bacon Jam, and Natural Chicken Jus $29.00

4. Grilled Hand-cut "C.A.B." Filet Mignon - with lobster mushroom ragout, roasted bone marrow, savory truffle and hazelnut crunch donut filled with yukon gold potato and red currant gastrique $43.00

5. Free Form Porcini Lasagna - autumn petite vegetables, confit of porcini mushrooms and tomato marmalade $28.00

AHH I WANTED ALL OF THESE THINGS. And I still do. I am dying to go back!

I ultimately decided on the buffalo because I wanted to be adventurous and WHEN DO YOU EVER EAT BUFFALO!?!!??! Seriously.

Lee-Anne decided on the Cedar Plank Roasted Wild King Salmon - (type of salmon changes seasonally) with nicoise, eggplant caviar, heirloom tomatoes, quail egg and Meyer lemon aioli $39

Here is my dish:

8534663887_9eb06aec92_z.jpg

Oh my God. THIS. WAS. UNBELIEVABLE.

I was in food heaven. I can't even describe it. The buffalo was like regular (...beef) steak, but better! It was a bit sweeter and the pinot noir reduction was UNREAL. I love steak, but this was better than most steaks I have had. It was just so sososoosossooijsdojspf delicious and the reduction they paired it with was just perfection.

The Yukon Gold Potato Smear BLEW MY MIND. Reason being that the only time I had ever tasted anything like it was MY MOM'S COOKING ON THANKSGIVING. Seriously, my mom makes the BEST mashed potatoes EVER - I have tried lots and lots but none top hers and nothing tastes like it. EXCEPT THIS. I couldn't believe it. It was like getting a nice taste of home with an exciting new dish. I enjoyed this SO much, I can't even tell you how much I recommend it. If you like meat at ALL, you will love this meal.

Here is Lee-Anne's salmon:

8534663999_f830740dc8_z.jpg

We had a bit of a frumpy moment here. Ok, picture this dish without the actual piece of salmon on it. That is how our server brought it out and Lee-Anne and I exchanged "what" looks. Then, he turned and we saw he brought the salmon out separately on what looked like a cutting board...? And then took tongs and moved it onto her plate. I do not understand the point of this outside of fanciness but hey, fanciness is a good enough reason! LOL. Anyway, Lee-Anne said this was absolutely delicious too!

I literally ate every single thing off my plate, it was completely clear. I was SO ready for dessert though.

8535772118_402ba928e3_z.jpg

Obviously, I wanted everything on this menu. I finally settled on the Sweet Potato Cheesecake, House-made Cranberry-Port Gelato, and Valrhona Chocolate Almond Semifreddo. Reason being... SWEET POTATO CHEESECAKE? That sounded very interesting and different to me, especially because I had never heard of it. I love sweet potatoes and I love cheesecake, so it sounded awesome to me! I also just love dessert samplers because you get more than one thing, and multiple desserts are always better than one.

LEE-ANNE DID NOT ORDER DESSERT. I know, I know!! She told me that for some reason when she is away from home, her appetite is not as big, plus she still wasn't feeling her best. :( Sigh. I felt bad for her. I honestly would have ordered a dessert in her place so that 1. I could have two desserts, and 2. Her dessert part of the dining credit wouldn't go to waste, but I was already SO full and I had no idea how I was even going to eat MY dessert.

BUT OH, EAT IT I DID. OH HOW I ATE IT. OH, THIS DESSERT.

8535772240_842a73c374_z.jpg

Let me just say that this was the most exciting and confusing dessert experience of my entire life.

Okay. Let's start with the normal parts because they are easier to describe. From left to right, the first thing was the house made cranberry gelato. This was ridiculously good, probably some of the best gelato I have ever had. It was sitting on top of some granola and dried fruit which was a great pairing for it.

Next we have the Valrhona Chocolate Almond Semifreddo. As good as the gelato was, this was 3928309x better. It was like a thicker, compact version of ice cream, yet it was very light at the same time. I could have eaten an entire giant dish of this. I can't describe the taste beyond just saying it was chocolate heaven.

Finally, the sweet potato cheesecake.

My brain did not know what to make of this.

As soon as I put it into my mouth, there was a GIANT amount of confusion between my brain and my tastebuds. My brain knew that I had just eaten a big meal and was now eating dessert. My brain also knows that sweet potatoes are not a dessert food. I know that it does get put into dessert at times, but I have never had it in one. I've never ever had a dessert that tastes like a non-dessert food. So when I took a bite, my "in dessert mode" brain was just like WHAAAAAA and my taste buds started EXPLODING in response.

I don't know how to describe this. It was kind of the same sensation as when you put something really sour in your mouth and your tastebuds just come alive, except it wasn't sour. It tasted just like sweet potatoes, and yet it was a cheesecake texture, so again... the tastebud/brain confusion. I liked it, but I could literally hardly bear eating it because IT WAS SO WEIRD what my tastebuds were doing. I wish I could explain this better, it was almost like I could feel them MOVING! They were just so alive. I was trying to explain to Lee-Anne what I was feeling and I think she thought I was crazy or something LOL. I don't even know. It was so awesome.

Here is my abstract photo taken from our table to finish off this review of Artist Point.

8535771240_1468b04c62_z.jpg

Overall, this was a stellar dining experience. Everything was perfect and could not have gone any better. It was exactly what I had hoped for... and more! It was even better than I thought. I can not wait to go back to Artist Point and especially to take my mom there. ARTIST POINT RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh look, it's the Territory Lounge!

8535772336_243d36e955_z.jpg

I'd like to hang out in there sometime and get an appetizer or something.

I swear, if you had no park tickets and you just stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for a few days, you'd have the time of your life. HEY, THAT ISN'T A BAD IDEA. I wish I was rich b/c I would totally fly to the WL tomorrow. Eff my job.

Before leaving, we went to use the bathroom and outside I noticed there was a portrait of Kristen and Jess.

A6AhooECYAI_TGs.jpg:large

@babybritney: There is some very frumpy art here at Artist Point.

I was very sad to be headed out of the WL... I am so obsessed with that place! However, we had a very exciting evening ahead of us, so we rode off into the sunset toward the Magic Kingdom!

Up Next: Lee-Anne's first time seeing Wishes & MSEP, plus some frumpy photoshoots that extended long after park closing! Oops.

P.S. TODAY IS GINA'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOON WE WILL BE IN DISNEY CELEBRATING WITH #BIRTHDAYFESTIVUS13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The Nemo section of AoA is like the cutest thing ever. Now I just want to stay in one of the suites.

Your pin lanyard IS AWESOME. Love me some TNBC ♥

ALL. OF. THE. TNBC. STUFF. IN. MOUSE. GEARS. DYING.

THE WILDERNESS LODGE?!!?!?! FOR DINNER?!?!?! Thank the LORD you just posted the update.

WL is our DVC home and we stay there almost every trip. IT IS JUST SO AMAZING THERE.

You would think that I have to been to Artist Point by now with all of the times I have stayed at WL. WHY HAVEN’T I?!?!?!

P.S. My mom and I were trying to figure out where to eat on our last day in Disney in August. I suggested a few places and then I was like “Sci Fi! I have heard so many great reviews about it (aka yours) and I want to eat there!” So we made an ADR!!!!!! So excited to go since you RAVE about it all the time!!! :D

They probably brought the salmon out on a cedar plank. I don't know why places do that instead of just putting it on the plate. It's like they're trying to prove that it really was cooked on a cedar plank? :confused3

So glad you made it over to AoA to explore, it’s so awesome over there! We stayed there in Sept and I loved it! Especially the food court! It has so many healthier options, and just so many different options for your basic qs food, we loved eating there I also have to say, we never had to use our key cards to go into the gated pool….Ive read other people there the same week did, maybe we just lucked out?

Love all the frumpy photos, that’s what makes a trip report a trip report right?! It shows character!
Ha! Love the deer, I definitely take deer pics for Jess too, lol!

Oh my god I am so excited for you guys for your new trip! I finally met Jess in Feb and she is just the biggest sweetheart ever! And obviously a Disney nut. This is why I love the disboards, it really brings all of us together, lets us all meet, the amount of friends I’ve gotten from here is amazing, and they’re all such great people! Depending on timing I might end up in Disney right around your trip!! I don’t know the dates, and probably wont up until a month or so before hand as it’ll be for auditions, but if I’m down there at the same time I’d be down for meeting up for a quick snack/ride!!

I just can't get over lee Anne not getting dessert while on the dinning plain. I can totally understand being stuffed from the meal... And her not feeling 100%... But I think I would of still ordered and taken it to go. I mean a little cream brûlée or orange cannoli ... Or chocolate sculpture with drunkin cherry stuff for a late night snack back at the room.... Oh ya that's what I'm talkin about..

At least it was free dinning... If you calculate it out often unless u really try and maximize the food u pick (picking the more $$ dishes) the value of he ddp and what u would pay oop is close to the same if not more for the ddp. In her case with skipping desserts and stuff I think she would b better off paying oop.... If it wasn't free ddp. Myself even though I can calculate the cost of the plan vs what I'd pay oop.... I really like the ease of not having to worry about $ for food.... But I still try my best to maximize the value.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful meal at AP!!! We're going to be able to make dining reservations soon - and OF COURSE that is making our lineup!!! :thumbsup2

That sounds like a really amazing dinner! And I just loooove the Wilderness Lodge, it is so pretty and cozy. The fact that they gave you Mickey straws at a signature restaurant is also just about the most amazing thing I have ever heard. :rotfl:
