Well-- better go get ready for work.

Morning everyone!!

Well, this has been a challenging month that has flown by!!! Had a very high, unachievable goal but was hoping to reach half of it. Due to being sick with this flu that's roaming our town I haven't been able to workout at all. Bright side-haven't gained any either. Still have one more week in march, another in April before our spring break cruise. If I can lose a bit before then, than all is good. Can't stress as that makes it worse!! Have a great weekend!!

Sorry to hear that you have been sick! I think you have a great attitude: life just is what it is and somtimes things don't go to plan. But just as you say stressing about it won't help! So hand in there and I hope you will be succesful to lose a bit before your cruise!

Yes, yes, yes! That would be cheese. Any kind of cheese: parmesan, gouda, goat, blah, blah, blah. I just can't get enough of it!! And then of course, it's inevitable that after downing all that salty cheese, the sweet pangs kick in. I call it my sabotage combo. "Sabotage combo for one please. Thank you! :rotfl2::rotfl:

Ok - now I am wondering whether I just made everyone hungry for their favourite food with my qotd!! :scared1:

The sweet - salty thing is indeed a dangerous combination as it leads to a vicious circle!!

Hello all! :wave2:

Big hugs to all who need them :hugs: and pixiedust: for us all to keep moving forward to our goals.

I haven't been posting but have been reading along. I'm just going to jump in here because I will never catch up otherwise. :teeth:

I think just jumping in whenever one can find the time is the only way to keep up with this thread sometimes!! Good to see you, I was actually thinking about you this morning and that we haven't seen you for quite some time!

Thanks, Rose, for coaching last week :thanks: and a big WATP to our new coach, Magdalene! :flower3:

Thank you!

I will say nuts are something I have to be careful about as it is so easy to overeat with them -- 1/4 of a cup is not very much. :lmao: Really almost any day anything can become a dangerous food for me. I've been much better about measuring and portioning things and that seems to help. Also, recording that food as well as what I plan to eat for the rest of the day helps keep things under control.

I agree, measuring and tracking the food is a huge help to keep things under control!

I have made a conscious choice to say that there is no food that is off limits to me -- food is nourishment and something that we need. I'm not spending the rest of my life not enjoying it. I just have to make sure I stay on plan. ::yes::

Sounds great to me - the important thing is to keep a healthy balance.

Good Afternoon & Happy Friday!!! :yay: I have been hanging in there. I did lose that extra pound so at this point no gain, no loss. I will take another maintain.

I am cleared for walking (correctly and as long as I am not in pain) and PT showed me some stomach crunches I can do, so next week is going to be better.

My eating is back on track. Just need to keep improving.

Sounds like you are making great progress - even if you "just maintained", but that sometimes can also be a success, especially if we have to battle health issues like you had! So congratulations!

As far as QOTD and my "danger foods"? Cheese, crackers, bread, butter, sour cream, & ANY FORM of potatoes.

The only way for me to control it is to read the label and follow the guidelines with measurement and/or weight.

If I don't label read, it becomes a free for all sometimes. Not always though.

Labels are so important to me as well! I remember when I lost weight in college here in Germany it was absolutely unusual to have nutritional information on food products - and it was before the days of the internet. I had a small booklet with calories for standard foods and used that as a certain guideline.

Good afternoon friends!

I am at work today without really any time, but my student is busy watching a movie, so I can sit nearby.

Scale was down just a bit today from last Friday's weight but up a bit from Saturday's weight... so obviously I am hovering in the same 1 lb range.... which would be fine if I were trying to maintain.... but I am at the TOP end of my maintenance range and need to get back to the bottom!

Health and Wellness Fair at school here today....nice to see them teaching some healthy habits.

I'll pop on again tonight!..............P

Hang in there, I am sure you will see movement on the scale again at some time! And maybe your Saturday weight this week will be below last weeks Saturday weight! :thumbsup2 I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I'm a cheese fiend too, can't start eating it, because I know I won't stop!! I have a particular weakness for goats cheese and a nice soft blue, something like gorgonzola (or Maytag....if only I could buy it in the UK!!!)

Of course, if I have cheese, I also want a huge chunk of crusty white bread and some butter.

Best I don't touch any of it....can't believe I've not had any since Christmas apart from Extra Light Philly.

See, I love Blue Shropshire cheese which I can't get here in Germany! :goodvibes

I admire your resolve to stay away from it at all!

I had a huge chunk of tillamook cheese the other night with some smoky bbq wheat thins-- felt guilty but it was so dang good.

Danger food---Good food. I'm a big fan of Diners drive ins and dives--y'know those places all the local love. If it's good ingredients made from scratch and with flair---I have a huge appetite, can generally out eat anyone at a sitting.

Not stopping eating even when I am full because the food tastes so good is one of my problems, too. I found out that it helps when I try to slow down while eating as I savour the food more and feel more satisfied with it.

Well the never ending saga of Misty The Cat who will not have Kittens continues. I slept with her last night, she threw up about 3:30 was pretty excited because that's a sign of labour and of course that's all she did. Cleaned up the mess (she did it in the litterbox--so cute--) and went back to bed. We are at Day 67 if when I first noticed her nipples were pinking was at 3 weeks, I guess it's possible for them to pink at 2 but rare. Tried to make her 'exercise' today lol she played a little with cat toys on poles and since she's following me around did that a little lol. Then tried to take her temp-- because she always moves around a bunch then lol now she's sleeping up against me on the bed. Her teats are really full now--she's getting a Rack. She's not showing any signs of distress so I'm not going to take her to the vet. Most of my estimation was based on the pinking of her nipples an roundness of her belly when I first noticed it and that's not an exact science.She was also so thin when we got her it was probably more noticeable. The kittens are still moving around a lot too so I know they're ok. She's also messed around in her boxes kicking stuff around--the nesting thing y'know. Prior to now she hasn't shown much interest in the boxes.

Lost 3 of my 4 vacation pounds-- so good with that until I get over this cold. Last night was miserable had to dig out the humidifier so I could breathe.

Congratulations on getting rid of most of those vacations pounds! And I hope you will be able to report soon about many healthy kittens! I hope you will post pictures for us to see!

So I haven't been around much, but I'm still on the bandwagon! Seems like most of us are hanging in there even though weight loss is never as fast as we want it to be. They announced a new race for Marathon weekend today. The Dopey. It includes a 5K, a 10K, a half, and a full marathon. I'm crazy enough I'm planning on doing it, but it will be wayyyy easier if I get more of the weight off. Though I'm not sure easy and 4 races should be in the same sentence:rotfl:

Good Morning everyone!

I hope you are all ready to start into the last full week of March with lots of energy and motivation!!

Lots of thanks to Rose for coaching last week!

I will be your coach for the coming week. My name is Magdalene and my weight loss journey has had many ups and downs, at the moment I am working on losing the last two pounds that will get me into a healthy weight range. My current big motivation is a vacation next month which includes a Disney cruise and some time at WDW. I have battled with my weight ever since I was a kid - I used to be a "fat" kid in the 70s - looking at kids now and at pictures of myself when I was 9 I would be in the normal category today... In college I managed to lose a lot of weight - with the help of a group of close friends who all were (and still are today) really skinny. While I never acchieved their level of skinniness I looked great. And that's the end goal weight I am working towards.

At the moment I am doing the 30 Day Shred programm - it has been taking me much longer than 30 days though. While I haven't lost much weight with it so far, I have become much fitter and far more toned. For example my arm flab has reduced incredibly. I am doing my last workout on Saturday and will report back with the results on Sunday!

On to the first question of the day:

Is there any one food (or a food group) that is really "dangerous" for you? Something that you love and tend to overeat if you have it. How do you deal with the temptation? Do you just avoid it all together, make modifications to it or limit yourself in the quantity?

Thank you for coaching!! And cant wait to hear about your 30DS results!

My trigger food is pizza! I love the stuff! Well, really any bread and cheese product... like quesadillas YUM.. oh no I went and made myself hungry :rotfl: But I have found lately that I am able to and indulge in maybe 1 slice of pizza, while eating something low carb for the rest of my meal. NSV!

Morning all! Sorry I didn't get back here last night. Got busy at home.

I'm done with my workout here at the Y and DD and I are hitting the road from here in about 30 minutes to head to Roger Williams University for DD's "recruiting" weekend! I hope that it is a fun, exciting 24 hours for her!

I have brought along my food journal, my workout clothes, and some fruit. I am on my own for 3 meals between 11am today and noon tomorrow I will make smart, but delicious choices, I promise! Not sure what I am going to do exactly with my time. I actually cannot recall the last time I was alone away from home without any sort of schedule or agenda! I can't recall if I've ever stayed in a hotel, all alone!

I think I will plan to play tourist a bit around the area, maybe find a good thrift shop, and possibly take myself to a movie! In the morning I'll sleep in a bit, hit the TM or walk outside (weather permitting), enjoy my free cooked -to-order breakfast at the hotel (although I will call it brunch), and maybe find a bit of sightseeing or a beach to stroll on before I pick up DD at noon.

Gotta dash to gas up the car before DD gets out of the pool! I'll visit again late during my "me" time!............P

I'm at Epcot! Woo! Drove all night after dropping DDs off at Grandma's house...our BC villa isn't ready yet, so we're wandering. I have the Flower & Garden passport ready to go for our kiosk lunch in a few minutes, and the weather is glorious. I think I'm starting to relax. :)

Have an awesome vacation!! Sounds wonderful!!

Afternoon all! Here I am in southern RI enjoying my alone time ! I killed a few hours at a thrift store and made a modest dent in my budget on some work clothes...some for spring and a few more wintery.....one dress, one skirt, two jackets, a few tops and cardigans, plus a pair of flats for DD...for about $65. One piece was a splurge at $15 but it was NWT and I loved it the moment I put it on. I realized as I was racing thru the store that life will definitely change when the kids are gone. After a few minutes of shopping like I was on a deadline I realized that NO ONE was waiting for me and I didn't have to rush anywhere for anything...it was a weird sensation!

I've only had one short text message from DD since I dropped her off at 10:45, so hopefully that means she is having fun and not that she lost her phone or something like that!:lmao:

For lunch, after some trial and error, I finally stopped at a grocery store and picked up a hot chicken leg quarter and an apple (I had a bottle of water in the car already). I ate my tasty, warm, healthy, cheap lunch in the car while enjoying the radio. Still haven't decided what to have for dinner. I'm tempted to get something special like Mexican or Chinese, but that might not be possible if I am trying to stay OP and on budget. I AM going to enjoy a cocktail and a piece of chocolate after dinner as a splurge though :thumbsup2 .

Hope you all are having a great weekend! BBL to chat.........P

Hi everyone! It has been a very busy day here - even though I did not expect it to be. Had quite a few errands to run - including starting to pick up a few things for the vacation next month.

So sorry for being so late with the QOTD but here it is - and it is a simple one!

QOTD: What is your favourite exercise?

And I guess I better get started and answer my own question!

For me it is definitely hiking. I used to hate it as a kid, but love it now. Spending hours in the countryside is just so rewarding. I love climbing a mountain, but I also enjoy getting just from point A to point B through nice landscape. Unfortunately I don't get to do it as often as I would want to, I really ought to make more effort this summer to get some nice hikes organised with friends!

So I haven't been around much, but I'm still on the bandwagon! Seems like most of us are hanging in there even though weight loss is never as fast as we want it to be. :faint: Wow!! That's quite a combo! It will be interesting to see how the 10k goes that they added to the line up. I guess they will try to relieve the load for the half marathon, but that will onyl work if people do get nice medals for the 10k as well. I am even tempted by it as I know that I can run a 10k, but when training for longer distances I always flaked out when I got about 15 km (so a little under 10 miles).

NSV!

Oh, and I forgot.... Had a 3 pound loss this morning :banana:

I just finished the last 30DS workout, will report results tomorrow morning!

Being able to stop oneself after a reasonable amount is a great step towards healthy eating! :thumbsup2

QOTD~my danger zone is sweets, especially chocolate. I've tried to limit myself to just a small piece of candy during the day, but then I usually want more and eat 20! So, it's best for me to avoid all together. However, I am struggling with this right now. Stress from work is killing my eating. And, DSs went to a church Easter egg hunt today. They came home with a ton of candy. Luckily, I will take some of it to work or else we'd eat it all. I think they were able to get 63 eggs each!

Sounds like it's been a fun, relaxing trip for you so far. It's amazing when I get a few hours to shop by myself how I start off rushing then have to relax a bit. Enjoy your drink and dessert!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey everyone! Today has been a pretty successful day (not eating though). We went to an egg hunt, ran into the store to grab some meat & a prescription, put all my photos from our January trip into an album, made dinner, cleaned the windows in the living room, organized one cabinet in the bathroom (2 more to go), boiled eggs to color, made & ordered 2 coffee mugs online at Walgreens, and paid all my bills. It feels good to get things done! However, I didn't eat too good today and I did not get exercise yet. I'm planning on watching a documentary tonight that I want to show my high school students this week (I have to preview it~it's called Man on Wire) so I may do some light exercise & stretch real good.
It sounds like everyone is doing so well. I'm sorry for those having injury issues. I hope everyone heals up fast. Knock on wood...I've never had an injury that sidelined me, but I'm sure it is frustrating and tough. And, I'm anxiously awaiting those kitties :)
So, I am hosting Easter dinner this year. Typically, we have ham, kielbasa, haluski (with dumplings), a potato, salad, a veggie, and pies. My mom is making the ham, my sister is making the haluski and a cauliflower dish, so I am in charge of kielbasa, a potato, desserts, and drinks. I know I'll be making a peanut butter pie (requested by BIL), but I'll be hitting up Pinterest for other ideas. So, it's not a healthy dinner by any means, but it's a tradition for our family (from my grandma). Do you have plans for Easter dinner? If so, what do you typically have? I love new ideas! I know lots of people have lamb. Only me, BIL, and DH really like lamb, so we don't have it.
Ok, I have to get DS6 off the Wii. He is playing Wii Sports Resort and is having a blast, but it's time for a shower. We are going to try to make 8 am Palm Sunday service tomorrow. We'll see how this goes lol! I hope DSs get moving in the am!
Have a great evening :goodvibes
Jill
Holy craziness batman. did y'all see the announcement for the Dopey race in 2014? 4 races, 6 medals.
I would sooooo love to do this. Don't think I could, but man oh man, this would be soooo cool!
QOTD: I love zumba, surprisingly enough because I am a klutz! But I usually chose the elliptical because I can only make to one class a week.
Had an awesome day today at the Renaissance Festival! Did lots, walked lots, spent lots! :rotfl: Got DD's hair braided into a "swirl" and it is amazing, wish I could braid like that! Both kids also got henna tattoos, which they love :) Saw the whip cracker and the joust to the death... awesome shows. I also got my first fitted toe ring which I love :) AND we all rode on an elephant, felt bad for the elephant, but they explained that the elephants work no more than 30 weekends per year plus half the money raised goes toward stopping elephant poachers in Africa, both the elephants they had were rescued themselves. So I felt a little better (if that is all true). Anyway, I still made good choices, walked 10000 steps at the festival alone, so I will probably get in 15000 steps today, and shared a turkey leg with the kiddos plus a small bit of pretzel and milkshake (plus a regular breakfast and snack on the way). Because I walked so much today I am actually way under on calories. I will need to ready a good dinner when we make it home! :)
Hope everyone else is having a great weekend too!!
Afternoon all! Here I am in southern RI enjoying my alone time ! I killed a few hours at a thrift store and made a modest dent in my budget on some work clothes...some for spring and a few more wintery.....one dress, one skirt, two jackets, a few tops and cardigans, plus a pair of flats for DD...for about $65. One piece was a splurge at $15 but it was NWT and I loved it the moment I put it on. I realized as I was racing thru the store that life will definitely change when the kids are gone. After a few minutes of shopping like I was on a deadline I realized that NO ONE was waiting for me and I didn't have to rush anywhere for anything...it was a weird sensation!
I've only had one short text message from DD since I dropped her off at 10:45, so hopefully that means she is having fun and not that she lost her phone or something like that!:lmao:
For lunch, after some trial and error, I finally stopped at a grocery store and picked up a hot chicken leg quarter and an apple (I had a bottle of water in the car already). I ate my tasty, warm, healthy, cheap lunch in the car while enjoying the radio. Still haven't decided what to have for dinner. I'm tempted to get something special like Mexican or Chinese, but that might not be possible if I am trying to stay OP and on budget. I AM going to enjoy a cocktail and a piece of chocolate after dinner as a splurge though :thumbsup2 .
Hope you all are having a great weekend! BBL to chat.........P
Sounds like a blast!! Great pick up for the clothes and great choices for food! When I first tried low carb I hated going out to eat, but you find what works (no matter what type of diet you are on) and it gets way easier, and most places are more than happy to make changes to suit your needs. Also great job being "on your own"! Its not one of my faves either, but it sounds like you are doing great, ENJOY YOURSELF!! Also, congrats on your DD, mine was not what you would call "studious" or even remotely athletic. However she is an exceptional artist and has started her own business (so to speak, lol still waiting for the $$ to roll in :lmao:) so I missed out on all the college weekends.
Hope your have a great time!!
Sorry for the double posting (don't know how to quote more than one person and then add my own! lol)
Had an awesome day today!! Managed to get back on my diet after yesterday's "free day" which I did turn into just a free meal. Stuck to my diet for Bfast before classes and then had just a nice salad for lunch. Then after getting a new living room set, we celebrated at Red Lobster!! Yep, had those yummy cheddar bay biscuits and the Bar Harbor Bake with lots of seafood and pasta. However I did order my rum with diet coke!! lol But got right back on the diet wagon today and had a great day. Found out that my dog Puck made it on the flyball team and will soon be competing in tournaments and doing demos around the area!!! :cheer2:
50sjayne, I hope your cat is doing good and I cant wait to see pics of the kittens!!!:goodvibes
araes2012, great job on the weight loss!!!! :thumbsup2
For the QOTD, I would have to say its hiking. We dont get many nice days up here this time of year so its nice to get out and enjoy the mountains when they are "out", lol. Also, I do my bike and weights/floor work most days so its always nice to mix it up on my week off to take advantage of the beautiful PNW here.
Hope you all have a great night and a wonderful day tomorrow!!!
I'm at Epcot! Woo! Drove all night after dropping DDs off at Grandma's house...our BC villa isn't ready yet, so we're wandering. I have the Flower & Garden passport ready to go for our kiosk lunch in a few minutes, and the weather is glorious. I think I'm starting to relax. :)
Ahhh, sounds wonderful!!! We are supposed to GET SNOW HERE TODAY, like 12" (yeah right). Last year at this time I was planting flowers in my gardens.:lmao:
Enjoy your trip!!! :wave2:
