The link is only open to DVC members, you have to have a login for it.

For those dates, only Saratago Springs is showing open for the entire time, 208 points.

Checked your dates for you...You have a problem with the beginning of your trip. Jambo and Kidani standard and savanna have issues with the first 2 or 3 days and are avaialable for the next 3. There is no way to combine the categories to get you a room at AKV for the nights of 6/26-6/28.

However, SSR keeps popping up as available for the whole time (208 points).

Not all animals stay on the savannah all night - they go into the barns to sleep & so the handlers/vets can keep an eye on everyone daily. On the Wanyama safari I got to call the pigs in with a bicycle horn - each has been trained to respond to a different "call".

I noticed that - the handlers used different sounding calls at different times, and different animals would go right to the gate. Even though the walk to this room was a hike, I LOVED the view. We could hear the screams from EE from the balcony at times too.

I always just use dvcrequest.com - he has a points calculator where you just put in your dates and it adds it all up and tells you what you need. Handy! If only you could check the availability too that would be AWESOME! I always feel like such a pest! But these girls are great DIS-ers!

I have a dream....and it is called a "Grand Villa"....anyone ever stayed in one at AKL or BLT? I think I am going to save like crazy and treat the family to one in a few years. Is there any hope of finding someone who has that many points to rent? My parents took me so many times as a kid (annually) and still refuse to ever let us pay for a meal or anything for them that it would be nice to get an amazing room!!! But my kids are 1 and 3 so much too young to enjoy it....but maybe in a couple of years!......

If you hang around on this forum, you might talk to me when you think your dream woukd come true (or prefferably two years prior). Two years ago I added on before the restrictions went into place. I have many more points than we can use. So far in our 2011 & 2012 use years I haven't had points that were going to go to waste. However, what the future holds remains to be seen. When I get to a point that I can't use up my banked points, I'll really need to look into renting them out.

I forgot to ask - is this something they normally leave in the room for DVC members? It was such a great surprise, and those vanilla cupcakes were to die for. I wasn't sure if it was just a routine thing, or if someone actually had them sent to us.

Nope no celebration listed. Our TV was broken & they sent someone up to fix it while we were out at a park, and this was in the room when we got back. I thought maybe they sent it up because of that? Also when we checked into WL we had a gift basket from the room inventory manager - he went to high school with us (many, many moons ago) and recognized our name when assigning our room. He had called over to AKV to see if our villa was ready the day we switched - maybe he had something to do with it? Or maybe the person I rented points from arranged it. Who knows! There was no card with it so I'm perplexed. But I've never had a better vanilla cupcake in my life!

The restrictions are on resale points purchased after March 2011. They can only be used at DVC villas, not for cruises or hotel trade outs. I've only been a member for about five years and for various health issues with my spouse, we've only had a handful of vacations since buying DVC. I hope we have more in the future, but the ones we have had have been pretty wonderful. I'm a little over halfway through my TR from the last one. I posted the updates here that related to the AKL.

We were surprised in our room once with milk on ice and a tray of chocolate chip cookies and zebra domes. No card for us either, but I had mentioned to the CM at the front desk that my DH had been sick and missed a day in the parks but was feeling better & going out. When we got back to the room that night we had that lovely tray waiting.

Sounds to me like you know the right people!

It's those extra things (both big & small) that Disney does to make our vacations so magical!
