August 10, 2013 Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy

How should we split the FE?

  • Split the FE list in half (2 groups 22 - 26 staterooms)

  • Stick to the idea of a headcount (3 groups (14/15 staterroms)

Christine and I are having a BALL checking out Oriental Trading !!!They have soooooo many FE ideas !!!!!

Lots of fun ideas, but you girls have still a lot of time to decide! :thumbsup2

I have some really cute ideas that I can't wait to do.

Do you put your name on the gifts or anything that indicates who it is from? or is it a surprise? Is there a way to know where each family or stateroom is from? I was thinking about if I make or bring something that is from Texas, is that important to people? Like I said, just trying to come up with fun ideas.

Thanks!

Again, I am not making any rules, so if you would like to put your name on it, feel free to do so! :thumbsup2
Many people do, they add a little greeting with their screen name or real names. Tom and I usually have a cruise logo, which you will find on our door and on most of the gifts. And then, some gifts are relating to our home country of Austria and I guess there are not many other Austrians in the group. :rotfl2:
Not sure if we will handle it this way this time too, maybe we'll just package it up.

But remember, this should be FUN, so no rules and regulations, it should be fun for everyone involved. :goodvibes

Hey everyone!!

Exciting news! No, Nemo isn't here yet... any day now really... but I have convinced my grandparents to join us on the cruise!! :cool1: They had a GREAT time last time, they just felt like it was too short. I haven't booked their cabin yet, but as soon as I do I'll let you know the details for the FE.

YellowRose: I'm from TEXAS (!!) too! We are in DFW and I would love to get Texas themed goodies! Thankfully, I think this weekend I figured out a plan for my FE gifts! WOOHOO!

Has anyone ever reserved a cabana on Castaway? I hear that it will only hold 10 people, I would assume that the infant counts "as a person" since it counts as a person in your stateroom. Which would mean that my count is one too many. BUMMER!! Either way, it's cool, we are going to be on Castaway Cay, which is my other happy place!!

Still keeping my fingers crossed for an "easy arrival" of "Nemo". How exciting. pixiedust:
Let me know about your grandparents once you have gotten all the details

We have always rented a Cabana at CC. A Serenity Bay one that is. We love to have a little retreat, cold drinks, shower and comfortable seats! Also, I have trouble with my eyes in bright sunlight and being in the shade helps a lot.
As far as I know Family Beach Cabanas hold 8 and you may pay for up to two more people. And yes, unfortunatley everyone counts towards that, even a baby.

Looking forward to trying the FE for the 1st time!!!
Erica

:welcome: to the DISboards and welcome to our cruise thread.
I will put you on the list of cruisers right away. For the FE one, I will need everyone's first name, the ages of kids and your stateroom number. Please let me know as soon as possible, so I can update the list.
You will need to post the names here as you do not have enough posts (10) to use the PM system here.

Hi Jrex... I live in the San Antonio area. I have come up with some really cute ideas for most everyone. I am just having a hard time coming up with items for men and young men. BUT I do have another idea that I could do, it is easy. I have MOST of the stuff to put it together. AND I don't know that anyone one else will do it.

I am VERY Excited though.

For some reason I am not getting updates when some posts, even though I am subscribed to the thread. For FE gifts, last time I shipped mine before we left and they were waiting in our room when we got there. Less for us to pack and carry. We had 2 boxes to ship. I need to start thinking of ideas, plus stuff for our wedding renewal. Cant wait, 5 months and counting.

I just now figured out how to subscribe. I can't be much help with that one, sorry.

I was thinking the same thing. I need to find out if I can ship to the timeshare and if they will hold it there for me. It would make life easier, that is for sure.

Men and young men are the hardest to find presents for. We have come up with a few ideas of homemade gifts, but I am having a hard time with store bought ones. ;)

Check your spam folder ..... that's where mine went a while ago. And one time I stopped getting updates all together, then got around 500 within a few minutes. :confused3
At the moment it works perfectly fine for me.

If you are sending boxes to the ship, please check their new rules. I think you are only allowed to ship one box per stateroom. :scratchin

You are subscribed once you post on a thread or just go to the thread tools and subscribe there. Took me a while to figure it out. :rotfl2:

We are so happy, we scored a really cheap upgrade to business class, which gives us four pieces of luggage for free. Sending a box from Europe is no option, it is more expensive than having another suitcase. :rotfl2:

Hello! I just wanted to update our info for the FE.

We're a big family traveling in joining cabins

7664: Jenn (me) & Ruben (dh), Jazmin (dd) 3, and Mason (ds) 2

7662: my parents Pete & Beda and my two older kids Maia (dd) 3 weeks shy of 11 and Remi (ds) 8

I was wondering if we were going to start a closed FB group.

I've finally figured out what I'm going to be giving for the FE's. so excited!

I am going to update the FE list with your info lateron today. :thumbsup2 Thanks for letting us know.

I am NOT a big fan of a FB group. I know most threads have them, but I don't really see why we need another group, when we have one here.
Our school does not allow us teachers to have an account on FB, and I am sure not everyone does FB so it will shut some of us out from the start.
I sometimes use the account my DB has and it really frustrates me that I cannot find some posts, as FB automatically adds a thread to the top once someone new posts - so annoying.

On our last cruise meet thread the FB page started a HUGE confusion when meets were started on both, the DIS and FB and no one communicated it.

Just my opinion. Why divide the chatter to two different "boards"? :confused3

Thanks for adding our info. My sister & her family as well as her sister-in-law and family will be cruising with us though I do not know if they'll be participating in the FR group.

I asked about the FE FB group because I've had the completely opposite experience.

On our last cruise we used the FB and the dis boards evenly and everyone got along well without incident. Also I've recently joined a couple groups started by dis members that has graphics that can be used for fe gifts or door magnets.

No worries.

I updated my list!
Sorry it took so long. And sorry if I sounded a bit unfriendly in my comment, but the antiques of our last cruise's "rival" groups, still make me shiver. :rotfl2:

We also had a great experience using FB + DIS on our cruise on the Magic last Sept. it was great being able to put names with faces before we even set sail. And we didn't have any problems or confusion or clique-i-ness. I would love to have a FB group as well as DIS. Just my $0.02. :)

BTW, our cabin # is 7594. We are traveling in in Friday 8/9 and staying at CBR, having dinner at Raglan Road, and possibly going to Splitsville for late night bowling. We'll see how the day goes.

Anyway, it seems like FOREVER until August and I know the week will totally FLY by. But still sooooooooooo excited for our 5th DCL cruise. It's our 1st time on one of the new ships.

Every time they show the DCL commercial and the 'under the sea' tune plays on the steel drum sounding instrument, I actually have a physiological reaction. CANNOT WAIT!!! :)

Thanks for updating your info! I will update my list and upload it tonight!

You will see, once Spring finally is here to stay, time will just fly by and in no time it will be time to get on the ship.
Believe me, I am with you when it comes to the one week totally flying by - that's why we have another one to follow it up with (going back to back ;)) But no matter HOW long you stay on board, it is always too soon to leave again.

The new ships are beautiful, btw. :goodvibes

I am glad you found us and are willing to join in the chatter! :wave2:
Your DD will love the kids club. We were lucky enough to be invited to join friends at the open house and it was just awesome there.
You really wish you were a child and could play there. :thumbsup2

I will update my first post and put you on both of my lists! :goodvibes

There are two adult only restaurants on board, if that is what you want to hear about.
There is Palo, which is an upscale Italian restaurant, which offers both brunch and dinner. There is an upcharge of $20 per person and it is strictly 18 and over.
The other adult only restaurant on board is Remy, which is French and even more strict when it comes to dress code.
Food at both is very good, but be aware that Remy charges $75,- for dinner per person (and offers a wine pairing for $99 per person). Lunch is $50 per person.

I have dining reviews in my February 2012 trip report (the link to those trip reports is in my signature).

Thanks! I love taking the wife out to nice places to eat... and here in SF there are plenty but we dont normally hit French cuisine. Sound like fun and since I am not a wine drinker per say and partake of nice, neat, straight aged liquids ;) I always do find the pairings fun that I have participated on.

So if I showed up in a formal Mickey Mouse themed tux Id get booted?? Awwwww :stir:

Thanks for the info!!
