Can anyone tell me if you can buy it at the resorts or get it at restaurants ? Son is lactose-intolerant

We were in Disney in December and noticed they did not have lactose free milk or other products. I had a few groceries delivered to the resort so I had lactose free milk and cereal in the room each morning for my daughter.

My oldest is Lactos intolerant as well. We always give him lactaid tablets starting 2 weeks before the trip and while we are there because we have a hard time finding lactos free foods that he will eat. He hates soy and rice milk. The tablet seem to work well for him. I do not know how old your son is, but mine started using the tablets when he was about 4.

thanks for the responses, it all started about a yr ago so we are still figuring out what bothers him and what doesnt. He's 11. never thought of the tablets. good idea, he deals with the lactaid but still says it tastes funny. he wont drink soy or ricd either.

I would just do lactaid pills. That's what I used to do and I could eat all dairy. Some things I could eat more of than others but there was nothing completely off limits. With the tablets you don't have to worry about being able to find lactaid milk or milk alternatives.

when does he take the tablet? before meals or just in the morning

It I'll say on the box. I haven't taken them in a while because they stopped working for me (after working for 10 years!) but I'm pretty sure you take them every time you eat something with dairy. But I am really NOT 100% sure.

Buti will say, that your son will still have to be carefule. For a lot of people, lactaid just helps symptoms but they still need to watch how much eats. For most people, lactaid does not mean you can eat whatever you want all the time.

I know for me, ice cream and milk were the rest culprits. I only had milk in my cereal and I coud only tolerate half a serving of ice cream. But it was better than nothing.

DH takes Lactaid pills almost every day & they allow him to eat dairy he would never be able to touch! There's a chewable one that I don't know too much about, DH likes the tablets, he takes them with his first bite of food every time he eats anything with dairy.

Target has a brand of pills for lactose intolerance that you only have to take once a day, but we normally use the Lactaid brand of chew tabs. They taste like vanilla and you just take it before you eat anything with dairy. My son keeps a few in his pocket so that if he decides to eat something that he has not planned for he is ready ( such as ice cream at a friends house.) They make a world of difference for him as he was having trouble with food such as mashed potatoes that had been cooked with milk.

What are the Target ones that you take once a day called? I have the Target brand that are the generic of the Lactaid that you still have to take each time you have something with milk.

OP if you go with the pills I would get them and try before you go. The box says take one or two pills as needed. I have to take two pills to be okay and even with that I still cant eat anything with cream cheese. You don't want your DS to take one pill and end up being sick still, when two may have done the job.

I am not sure what the Target pills that are once a day are called. I know it was an Up and Up brand, but we stopped buying them a few years ago because they where getting harder and harder to find so maybe the ydo not even make them any longer. We noticed that changing brands often did not work well for us. When he first started to take the Lactaid he would have to have 2 and then after a while he only needs one before eating cooked dairy, but still needs 2 if eating ice cream or drinking milk.
