2013 Free Dining Watch

I will admit I haven't read all of this thread, I just found it. Any thoughts on December (early December - not near Christmas)?

how long would you wait to book a stay at CBR? We REALLY need free dinning and are planning to stay for 14 days sometime between Sep. 24th and Oct. 20th. We are waiting to see what day (if it happens) free dining will be for a check in during that time frame. SOOOO, how long would you wait before booking. We also want rooms close to the main pool at CBR too so that adds to the mix.

Going by previous years FD cut off date, last Sat. Of Sept which would be 9/28 this year of course it seems this is a year of surprises as far as discounts go.

We are going in November and my *guess* is only the traditional original free dining dates are going to be offered late Aug-Sept. I think something will come out for our dates, but not free dining. This is only based on what we have seen for the rest of this year. Discounts have drastically decreased.

Last year I booked my first day if free dining on Sept 28th as it was the cut off. Shortly after I booked they extended it into certain weeks in Oct, Nov and beginning of Dec and I almost switched, but didn't want to go through all the trouble.

In the past the mods and deluxe have offered table service dining, while the values offered quick service.

If they only offer quick service at your resort you can certainly upgrade. The cost would be $18.01 per person per day for adults, $2.84 for kids.

I believe that the rumor is free dining will end on September 24 this year, so as long as you check in by that date, you can have the FD discount applied to your entire trip, up to 14 nights, do you should be good.

If free dining is offered, it will fall on those dates. It should start around August 18 and go until sometime around the end of sept.

Hi everyone. I am new to this board and planning my first Disney trip so bear with me. BUT....we are booked for Aug. 18-23 with the dining plan. If the FD comes out for that time, will I be able to apply that to my package even though I have already paid? Thanks for your help!

You can if there's availability at your resort. However if too many people go ahead and book anyway thinking they can do this, Disney will see their resorts booking up and won't offer a deal at all. It creates a self fulfilled prophecy and does no good to book before an announcement since you'll still have to call early when they announce it because they could fill up at your resort anyway. Why not let Disney see that people aren't booking so they will offer something good.

This is our first ever trip and we are super excited. Taking DD8, DS6, & DS4. If free dining comes out, what will be the process to book? Hoping to stay at POR or AoA, but thinking POR will be better since it is a mod. HoPing to go around Sept 14-21 or so, but are flexible. I am a newbie card holder and just want to be prepared once the offer comes out. Thanks in dance for any advice or suggestions.

You just call and ask for the free dining offer. There will also be a code you can give them but they usually know exactly what you're talking about. You'll then get the dining plan added to the package at no charge.

We are going September 8th. I booked CSR for our first time ever moderate stay just banking on Free Dining.


You know it is BAD and the pins and needles is driving one crazy when you actually DREAM about Disney releasing Free Dining dates. Yes that is right, I am such an over-planner who is biting my nails over early fall offers that I dreamt TWICE last night that the day FD was released I was on the phone all day with my TA trying to get the discount applied to my ressie. But the lines were so busy with ppl trying to cash in on the offer, that the FD rooms sold out in a day and I missed out.

Yes, you can call and add the free dining code to your existing reservation - call the day they are released and you shouldnt have any problem with availability. If you have already paid in full, they will refund the difference to your credit card. It can take up to 2 billing cycles, or 2 months to receive your refund.

Keep in mind if you already have your trip booked and u got a discount of any sort most likely to get free dining you'll have to give up any other discount.
