I thought that $95 for the Disneyland 10K was too expensive (I still signed up for the DDD tho). Now they are going to charge $160 for that same race in WDW (almost triple the 5K race fee)? That is an insane mark-up to me (unless the tech shirt is silk and the medal has some precious medal/stone in it).

It was bad enough that the Half and the Full have the same price tag. But the 10K? That is really pushing it. (On a side note: I hope the Dopey Medal has a pickaxe with 'Dopey' written on the handle like in "Once Upon a Time"!)

My question is: How are they going to handle WDW 2015?"

For example, I intend to run the Goofy in 2015 (10th anniversary race!). Now that they have the Dopey Challenge, will I have to choose Goofy over Dopey in order to get the Anniversary Goofy medal? I mean the Dopey is just "Goofy Plus", right?

So, if I choose to sign up for the Dopey in 2015, will I be able to either 1) get both the Goofy and Dopey medals if I finish all three, or 2) get to choose 'which' Challenge medal I want?

OR, do I just sign up for the Goofy, and also the 10K, so I get the Goofy Medal and the 10K medal and can claim my 'unofficial' Dopey (like it has been done for years)?

Good questions Rick. And this is still rumor- so maybe it was someone on active just screwing around? Who knows.

But I had the same thought.

When we registered for W&D it said all races would get new medals--- so are they wiping the Goofy clean and starting it over? Will this year be the new medal, not next year?

So many questions! Hope they answer before April 9

Didn't I read somewhere all new medals for 2014 - Donald, Mickey and Goofy?

Yep- on the W&D sign up confirmation they said there would be all new medals for 2014 marathon weekend

They just changed the Donald medal this year to model it after the 15th anniversary medal from 2012. Why would they want to change it again?

For the Mickey, I figured it would be different in 2014 as a follow up from the 20th anniversary (like they did with the Donald).

Why would they change the Goofy medal in 2014 when they have to come out with a new 10th anniversary medal design for 2015?

The only reason I can come with completely new medal designs for 2014 (as well as announcing the official Dopey Challenge), is to find another way to entice all those runners in 2013 who came for the 20th anniversary medal to return in 2014. (Not a bad reason...)

We had been thinking of Goofy 2015 and DDD 2015 (DL half 10th anniversary) for our first Coast to Coast... but this is going to be really tempting. I'll stay perfect with Wine & Dine, but DH may decide to skip it and tackle Dopey with me instead.

Sorry, but that's just insane for a 10K. If Disney is trying to reduce the numbers via sticker shock, this will be my last race at WDW - I'll just be doing the half. A 10k isn't even half the half, and yet they're charging the same price? No thanks. If they want to reduce the number of runners, then reduce the number of spots. I may just turn my sights on DL and try to do Tink. At this point I'm looking outside of Disney for my next half after January.

Interesting.....if, IF, it is true (1) when would they do the 10K? at the same time as the 5K on Friday morning? and (2) would doing Dopey count towards Perfectly Goofy?

I read somewhere that the 5K would be on Thursday and the 10K on Friday....

On the page somewhere it talks about reunion breakfast for 5k on Thursday and 10k Friday.I am still holding out hope that dopey is all 4 races

I wonder if this means we'll be seeing a price hike for the Disneyland 10K come 2014... And to think I thought $95 was a bit overpriced! If they build it, we will pay, I suppose. I can't see myself shelling out $160 just to do the 10K, but if they started a challenge for the 10K and half like at Disneyland I would consider it. Considering I only made it to mile 21 of the full (thanks, knees), I don't see a Goofy or Dopey in my future. :)
