Wilderness Lodge Ferry to the Magic Kingdom

We don't really do the bus service at WDW but I must say that WL does have the best bus service. My children convinced me to take the bus to MK instead of the boat once and we will never wait on the boat again. The bus was less than five minutes door to door. Epcot was maybe 15-20 minutes and on our last trip I know we did not share for Epcot or MK.

The boat is nice is nice but we found long lines and often had to wait for the second boat and our trips there are usually during less crowded times.

Wow, really?! Less than 5 minutes? That's awesome. I'm thinking it might make sense to take the bus to MK in the morning, and then the ferry to return to the WL. I would think the ferry would be good for our little ones to nap in their stroller.

We never had long lines for the boat but we may have been lucky. The bus ride is quicker but I enjoy the boat ride and so do my kids. More fun then the bus. And it is super handy when you don't have to take the little ones out of the stroller. On our way back from mk one night my little guy was asleep. The boat at the dock was a small one (need to fold up stroller for those). The cm said another boat where I wouldn't have to get him out was right behind them and would be there in 2 minutes. It was nice for him to let me know. But at that minute my little guy woke up so I just got him out.

We also got to see the water parade when we were on the boat one night. That was neat.

It all depends on the timing of the boats and monorail. I beleive it took us about 30 minutes to make the trek while the bus could be less than 15 if you hit it right.
You also have to figure in the walking from the boat dock at CR up to the monorail station which can take 3-5 minutes and the walking down the ramps and up the ramps at the TTC station to the Epcot monorail.

It is not a trip for those in a hurry or with kids in tow, but as I said...it was a nice change from the daily bus trips.

We also did the boat to MK, ferry to TTC to the monorail to get to Epcot. It took closer to an hour but it was early morning, no hurry, and beautiful. In reverse from Epcot, we did monorail to TTC, switched to resort loop, off at CR, boat to WL. Again, pushed close to an hour. We just get so tired of the buses after awhile and prefer the adventure of other modes of travel!

Some will say its a short walk.... But in reality, it's down the boat ramp at the CR, either thru the lobby or around the side of the building and then the sidewalk trip to the MK.... Hot summer heat, pushing a double stroller.... Quite a hike, I'd say easy 30 minute walk....

30 minutes? I don't know what route you took and how slow you walk but we have stayed twice with our twin toddlers at BLT and once before kids. An easy 10 minute walk, usually less. Double stroller and all.

I will say perhaps you meant 30 minutes from WL to cr via boat to MK walking. That is very possible, maybe longer depending on the boat.

Your time may vary, you're talking from BLT TO THE MK, where at the MK?? To turn stile ??

I've made more trips than you can count, from CR dock, thru lobby, out the side in for t of the bus depot to MK turnstiles.... We're not going to run or fast walk, benefit of the doubt to some, it's a long walk, in the heat of Florida... 30 minutes... Your times may vary, what 10 minutes either way... Give me a break!

Seriously? You are the only poster I have seen say it takes 30 minutes to walk from the CR to MK. Yes, 7-10 minutes from the hotel to security. We walk average speed. Now from a room at the CR, down the elevators, walk to MK, through security and the turnstiles, yes for 30 minutes. I would also disagree that it's a long walk. Maybe half a mile.

What time do the boats and buses start in the morning from WL? On our first morning we have Crystal palace booked for 8.10 am so we can get into MK early. Will we have to take the car?

Not sure about the boats, but the buses start rolling at 6:30AM.

The bus to mk is sooo much faster. We always seem to hit the timing for the boat wrong and have to wait forever...the bus is alway quick and no line...everyone else is in line waiting for the boat.

100% agree! While the boat is a nice alternative, we definitely took the bus so much more because it was sooooooo quick!!! :goodvibes

Hi all -
What time will I need to leave WL to get to:
MK for 8 am park opening?
HS for 8 am H&V adr?
AK for 8 am TH adr?

Thanks!!
Personally, I'd be at the bus stop NLT 7 a.m. for each of those. The bus ride time itself isn't an issue for any of those except perhaps AK, but if you're at the bus stop by 7 a.m., you should be able to get a bus taking you to the correct park without a problem. I might even get to the bus stop a little earlier if you are visiting WDW during a particularly busy time.

The bus to MK from WL is the best ever. 5 mins or less. I get that the boat ride is a nice change, but it takes forever to walk out to the dock, and if you miss a boat you are waiting and waiting. And the boat ride itself is 15 minutes.
