The end of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show with Mickey and Friends?

While I was at DLP last week I had a very interesting conversation with a CM about the future of dinner show Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show with Mickey and Friends.

The rumour they have heard is that as part of the expansion and refurbishment of the Disney Village the 20 year old show will end and the building will be closed for one year while it is being refurbished and turned into an ice rink and arena. Which would then become a permanent home for Disney on Ice.

With all DLP rumours I never believe them until things actually start to happen but this one does appear to make some sense. The BBWWS arena would make an excellent arena for ice shows and Disney on Ice tour around Europe every year. Logistically giving Disney on Ice a permanent home at DLP would be a good idea.

It would give them a permanent European base for rehearsals and set storage and would be the ideal location to launch their European tours from.

BBWWS is now over 20 years old, it's the longest running dinner show in Europe and they are having problems recently filling all the seats twice a night. It does make you wonder if the show actually makes a profit.

If this does happen it will increase the seating capacity of the arena and enable the arena to host many different ice shows over a season. It would be a lot easier for them to change the style of the ice show more often as Disney on Ice launch a new show every year and some times twice a year.

Sorry Jonjo but at 20 years BBWWS doesn't come close to Europes longest running dinner show. Pirates Adventure dinner show in Majorca is now in its 28th year.

Thanks gorby321 for the correction, I forgot the Pirates Adventure Show in Magaluf.

Maybe they don't fill the seats because it is so bloomin' expensive !

You can get tickets from 30€ which I don't think is bad for a meal and a show.;)

For me what ruined it was adding Mickey and friends. Much better before and keeping with the original BB show which toured Europe all those years ago :)

Oh nooo - at the risk of controversy, this news actually saddens me!

BBWWS is one of my favourite things about Disneyland Paris, it is part of the resort and signature to DLRP. The show brings back so many wonderful memories from the 20 years I have grown up in the resort.

I love the idea of Disney on Ice having a permanent fixture, so I say "EXPAND - DON'T REPLACE!" :thumbsup2 Who's with me?! :crowded:

(Thinks for keeping us posted though Jonjo - I love your rumour tip offs :thumbsup2 )

I agree, I preferred it before the addition. I personally think it doesn't flow aswell now.

Regards to the rumour of an ice rink, I would like to see a change and this could be good. It would kind of like the permanent Cirque de Soleil shows

Are these prices available online or are they last minute at the venue? Thanks for any info.

You have to buy them at least 5 days before your visit - They are called Billet Malin - and you can get them online from several resellers here in France or from the idf Disney site.

It's 30€ for the 21.30 showing and 40€ for the 18.30 one.

You can even get both shows at 30€ during the twice yearly flash sales - next one is late summer :thumbsup2

Are you a Majorcan pirate?! ;)

We're thing to sign up to post otherwise!

I don't like this rumour - how would they (DOI) make their money with this?? Its the kind of show that sells out touring, but its bad enough in winter months being cold outside in DLP without being cold inside too, and paying for it!! And I personally think that as they cut Mickey's Winter Wonderland, ice shows are not high on their list? Even with seasonal changes in storylines. I'll be sad if BB goes, I love that chilli haha!

It sounds weird they cut off Fantilussion and Tarzan during the summer, but are going to spend money on an ice rank?

It all depends on so much I guess, will there be shows every night and such.

I never been to the BBWWS, so don't really have an idea what kind of food you get and what the show is really like.

I imagine it won't be DLRP who will be paying for it, the company that runs Disney on Ice and Walt Disney company will stump up the money

Is it really that bad? I've been to DLP before, but we missed it while we were there.

I have always thought that BBWWS it is not advertised enough within the resort. BBWWS is a great show - OK the meal can be hit and miss some times, but it would be a very great loss to the Village to if it were to close.

As others have said I also agree that BBWWS could be improved my removing Mickey and his friends to take the show back to it's origonal format and lower the ticket cost. If French ticket companies can sell tickets for 30 Euros for this show then so should DLP.

And yes to expanding the Village, keep BBWWS but also build an ice rink arena for DOI. The more things to keep you occupied in the evenings the better.

DLP does already as it sells the same Billet Malin as Fnac and co ;)

but it doesn't offer it to those of us outside France. Without insider knowledge from posters like yourself, in the UK and I suspect the rest of Europe/world we wouldn't be aware of these tickets.

I might be in a minority here but I really enjoy the show, the food isn't bad, the free beer is appreciated by my OH and the corn bread and apple cobbler are terrific. We've paid full price 3 times, I wouldn't have done that if I didn't feel it was worth it.

I've only seen the show once with Mickey, I didn't feel it added anything, although the characters weren't as intrusive as I though they might be, I would be happy to see it go back to it's original format and if DLP did bring the prices down for all guests, I think they'd have much better attendance figures.

As a family of 4 adults it's a cheap night with the Billet Malin, a meal a show and drinks for 140 euros, I expect to pay that for our evening meal anyway without drinks, which is why we're definitely doing it again in July :thumbsup2

But I'm in agreement with the other posters keep BBWWS and by all means add another venue to the village. :)

We all love BBWWS in this house :lovestruc and have been 5 times. Planning to go again in September................would definitely prefer them to go back to the original show [well the one we saw first in 2003, so our original] as I'm not a fan of mickey and friends and even before they were added, the show had changed its format slightly, still a great night out :goodvibes

I really hope they don't get rid of it, I even like the little parade through the village at teatime when the horses and characters appear.
