Arrived at MCO today, felt I had to let you all know about Hertz...

We have always previously booked with Dollar and used their 'express' facility but there was a post on here a whole back about a Hertz offer and the prices were so good we thought we would chance our arm and try Hertz. A big step for me as I don't like change :lmao:

I tried to do OLCI with Hertz but the website stated that we didn't need to as I had registered us with the gold club. Spotted a sign at MCO advising all gold members to proceed to the garage. We did so and were served straight away by a nice chap who apologised and said our car would be 10/15mins as it was in the wrong location. The guy offered us bottles of cold water, very welcome. The car arrived as promised, a brand new Ford Explorer, bloomin beautiful car, probably our best ever, can't tell you how pleased we are. Even though we had to wait for the car we were away far quicker than when we use Dollar.

Really pleased :thumbsup2 Just hoping there are no hidden nasties when we return the car and if so it's nice to have another car hire company that we are happy to use :)

Hope this makes sense, jet lag set it, off to bed :goodvibes

I work for Hertz UK, and am booking with them for our trip in october (the hefty 40% global discount helped that decision!)

The gold service is specifically designed to get customers away ASAP and as happy as possible - all required info is pre-registered, the cars are specifically chosen for gold service as the newest in each car class and with no damages on - the amount of cars we see, especially in jan and feb at car change time when the fleet is at its oldest, with scratches and dents is ridiculous, a lot of people just don't care to look after them! Once had a 62-plate Qashqai come in to us from an airport location with just 200 miles on it, and the passenger door mirror housing was missing, and a giant scratch down the entire side.... but i digress....

Regular rentals on the gold service would also get you promoted to 5* status, which means not only do you get the same great service but you also get an automatic free upgrade to the next car class.

All that aside, it's good to hear that MCO are doing a good job as it gives me confidence to book with them!! Like the OP i've always gone with Dollar in the past, and was reluctant to change this year (even though I work for them) but just can't avoid the price difference!

ooh good to know, I booked on that offer - we arrive in two weeks and I registered for the gold membership too so hopefully it will go as smoothly for us. Enjoy your holiday x

I've booked through Hertz Gold for our upcoming trip to CA :)
I'll try to remember to let you all know how it goes there as well :thumbsup2

I can confirm the above about 5* status and upgrades. We've just collected a car at a Milan airport that's a few classes up from what we booked :).

We also use them in US and find them to be good; especially when you book at one of the great discounted rates ;)

Only used them once before (Error giving 4 weeks rental for price of 1) It was an OK service, no better than Dollar but nothing to complain about, a regular rental.
Trying them again from Miami airport in 2 weeks, got 2 weeks 7 seater SUV for £230, about half the cost of elsewhere. Just checked my paperwork and online, all looks good, says service type "Gold Canopy":goodvibes

Wayne,

Gold Canopy at Miami is top-notch - as far as I remember, when you go to the car rental area go straight to the 3rd floor, you'll see your name and precise car location on the Hertz Gold board there. Go straight to the car, hop in, and just show your ID on the way out of the parking lot :goodvibes

Same service is available at MCO

Sounds good. :goodvibes
We arrive on Apr 1st at 8pm, rather than drive in a city I don't know at night I have booked the airport hotel for the first night. Collecting car 8am on April 2nd, will then drive to Miami beach for a couple of hours before heading down to Key West.

Same service is available at MCO

I couldn't use the service at MCO, got an email saying they wouldn't honour their Gold service due to the misprice, although some did manage to get it we didn't.

Hi,
I have used Hertz for several years in Florida. However when I priced up our trip next month they were more than twice the price of other companies. So I emailed their customer service dept. to check why. The 1st reply completely missed the point and stated that Hertz don't try the cheapest company (I never suggested they did) But after a second e mail clarifying my point I received a reply stating they would pass on my concerns to their pricing dept. Four days later their price was virtually the same as other companies. Coincidence? Who knows but at least I get to use Hertz Gold again.

Mick.

I've tended to use Hertz as a Gold member for most of our rentals in the USA, and always been pleased with the service, plus prices have generally been on a par with other rental companies.

Us too. Our major exception is that Avis booked via BA sometimes have keen prices, especially if booked as a package with flights, and you get an additional driver free of charge if you belong to the BA Executive Club. We are also members of the Avis Preferred scheme and that works well for collection.

Unless there is a 40% sale (not seen one since last Nov) or misprice I can't get Hertz in my price range.
Looking for 7 seater, 20 nights in August:
Hertz with 10% AA discount less 8% Quidco = £724
Alamo/Holiday Autos 15% link & 16% Quidco = £457

Not booking yet, hope for a discount code to bring it down to around £400.

Good luck with that Wayne; if anyone can do it, you can ;). I normally aim to pay no more than £400 for 14 nights! But I did make a few bookings with the Hertz sale :). Great price on the August hotels btw :thumbsup2.

No idea where we want to stay in August, Extended stay Deluxe LBV looks good value at £33/nt, look like little appartments, wifi, breakfast, all included but I prefer pool at Fairfield. Lots of time yet, I only booked Easter this weekend.:rotfl2:

Lol, read it wrong, it must have been the Easter trip I read. As you say, lots of time yet :)

Wayne - you're in the travel biz yourself aren't you? Have Hertz not given you a Travel Industry CDP code to use when getting rates?

Nope, Florist Business, although I seem to spend more time with travel advice than selling flowers :rotfl2:
