~Yay! Thanks for the update!Tom Staggs just confirmed this today in his Disney Springs announcement. He said progress in 'on track'. Link is below
~I can't wait to see what James Cameron and the Imagineers come up with! I'm looking forward to something new -- instead of a carbon copy or something "reimagined!"Dave protesters are always the loudest (think tree huggers and tea party folks)
when Avatar was announced it was trending on twitter all day... once actual ride/rides are announced you ll see a little more excitement...just my opinion...
~Perfect! I totally agree!we ve had these arguments before so i half way dont want to post about it but,
all time gross
9 academy award nominations with 3 wins
highest rated movie premiere on FX
all time high #1 Blue ray sales
40,000,000 likes on face book page compared to 10,000,000 likes for star wars (no im not a star wars hater i actually hope we see expansion in DHS)
you re right one movie that came out four years ago so they definitely need to add to the franchise with more movies (avatar 2 and 3 out by 2015/2016)
i guess we will have to wait and see how popular it is at animal kingdom but i would bet anything if avatar is done right you ll see a 10 to 15% increase in attendance at DAK
~QFT.but i ve given you several hard facts/examples as to why avatar is and has been relevant..you re giving opinions
maybe its that you re not passionate about it....regardless avatar is alive and hopefully people keep an open mind and visit it when it opens...carsland is a very average film yet the land itself is incredible you hardly need to have a great film in order to have an incredibly immersive land..avatar is set up perfectly for a theme park with the bioluminesece and floating mountains themes of living in harmony with nature/conservation is perfect for DAK
i mean is song of the south relevant? or twilight zone? neither are but the rides are some of disneys best....a great ride is a great ride
i think the greatest movie franchise ever is The Godfather...great storyline, great quotes, and characters but it would make a terrible ride in a theme park...sometimes we over analyze these things..bottom line line is what make s a great theme park attraction and are they fun for families
i think avatar presents something fun and possibly interactive for families of all ages..maybe im wrong we will see
the OP wanted to know the status of the land not peoples opinion on avatar thats for another thread feel free to rip away
~Thank you!Agreed, let's keep this about the land
~Um, no. Okay, maybe.I would think that anything Avatar related would be easily converted to a Star Wars theme. Since they have already announced avatarland going forward with that name untill such time that J. Cameron steps out then presto chango avatar land become Dagobah or the forest moon of endor.

I don't doubt the imagineers can do something good with the IP. They usually do a passable job at the very least. But my point still stands, the movie was a flash-in-the-pan buzz movie and there is no disputing that. If you really want to gauge the pop cultural relevance of sci-fi product, do me a favor and go to San Diego Comic Con (or any con, for that matter)and tell me how large the representation of the Avatar fandom is.

so back to the OP
do me a favor
try the land /ride out and report back to us your thoughts on it because it is coming regardless of what you think about it
enjoy new immersions after all its theme park addition
do you not understand what discussion is? Sorry you don't like my posts, but you'll have to deal with them.
Point is start your own thread if you want to discuss/question the reasoning behind choosing avatar which is a good discussion to have but you ve hijacked the thread from the original intention from "what is the status of avatar" to "Why i dont like it"
feel free to discuss away
in a new thread
And you're the one that keeps responding. Discussion is always fluid and changes to suit the posters that are posting in a thread. Since there are no updates at this point, many people (not only myself) have started discussing Avatarland in general. Like i said, if you don't like it, you don't have to worry about it.
like i said feel free to start your own thread on this...my first repsonse to the OP was in regards to his/her question
I'll keep to this thread as long as there are people willing to discuss it, thanks.

ChipnDale79 said:This thread really is about the status of the new land, not about the decision to move forward with it or the reasoning as to why they did.
If I remember correctly, there was an entire thread about that. Can we please for once try to stay on topic...jeez.
Disney apparently thinks this is a good idea, I'm sure they've done much more research on it than all of us combined.
