Ok, I have a serious WWYD.

First the players: myself, my husband, my 2 girls 4 and 21 months. Also coming my 18 yr old sister (first trip, graduation gift)

Now the situation:
We originally booked Saturday-Saturday BC deluxe club level. The price difference between flying on Friday-Saturday instead of Sat-Sat was close to $1000. Needless to say we booked the Friday flights.

The dilemma:There are no deluxe CL rooms available for Friday :(. Currently I have a 1 night room only at POR in a princess room. Our plan is to arrive swim and do DTD.

So do I keep the split stay, or book a CL lagoon view room for the entire trip? I think the extra space in the Deluxe CL rooms will be worth the split stay hassle. If my sister wasn't going to be with us I think a regular room would be fine. But with her going any little bit of extra space helps. What do all you wise ones think?

Thanks

Split stay. We did this once and it was a very nice way to start the vacation. We swam all afternoon and then took the boat to Downtown Disney. It was such a pleasant evening and really made us ready to hit the parks the next day.

Hope you have a wonderful stay!!

I would also do a split stay. Pack one bag that will have all your "first night" stuff in it so you don't have to search through all the bags and unpack. Then when you get to BC you can get settled in.

I believe the ones that look straight across the back entrance (you are looking at other YC rooms, not the water) would indeed be considered GV, and would presumably be close to the lobby since you would be in one of the "wings" jutting off from the lobby.

Not a bad choice. The people watching is awesome if you enjoy that sport. We did when we had a room like that on the BC side.

I had a wedding gazebo view last year. it wasn't really a far walk to the elevator... and since we are now comparing walks to what we think it would be... I would say it was equal to walking from La Cava del tequila bar to the reservation desk at San Angel Inn :drinking1 Loved the view!

HTH

Thank you! So...."Upper floor please, overlooking back entrance or wedding gazebo if possible" would be the request?

Yep! We were 3rd floor right in front of the wedding gazebo straight ahead. When we looked to the left we could see the lake if we looked right it was balconies. To me it was a great location and the view was beautiful!

Good Luck

We've stayed deluxe CL at BC and I definitely think it's worth the split stay! We do split stays all the time and love it. Gives you the opportunity to try a different resort (which is fun for the bucket list, too!)

Sometimes, we let Bell Services transfer our luggage. But when we do that, we don't expect to see it until late in the afternoon or the evening. Setting those expectations and carrying everything we need in our park bag avoids any frustration or disappointment. In reality, luggage usually arrives earlier than we expect, but then we're pleasantly surprised! If we need something from our luggage earlier in the day (MNSSHP, for example!) or just prefer to start our day at Resort #2, we take a cab early in the morning. (Did that last year when transferring from POFQ to YC, so that we could walk to DHS in the morning and avoid the bus.)

If you are staying CL and need to change to use SAB, I highly recommend the spacious and super clean restroom in the club lounge. When we arrive at BC before our room is ready, it's very easy to use the club lounge restrooms to change.

Have a great trip!

Sounds great!!! I think whichever of the view requests are granted will be great.

@ tpoo- you have received some great advice, all recommending the split stay. I want to give you a little warning, however, about accepting split stay advice from pixarmom-

This is a woman who is dreaming of a 10 day/10 different resort stay- or some such thing- just thought you should know.

Didn't know if you guys heard the rumor that a GP discount for middle of June through middle of August (I think) is being released on April 2. I know Dee and I have been waiting and hoping.l According to this reliable source 30% discount for deluxes. Not sure about AP discounts - hoping that they are even a little bit better.

Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!

That is exciting news! Thanks for posting! I have been skimming the discount threads- I would love this!!!

pixiedust: for you both snagging a good discount even though neither of you go when I'M there, late August :upsidedow. Humph
I have to PM you Dee about this pin, last time I never got one :-(. Maybe one of those play Doh fish lamps too :rotfl:

Thanks for the info On POR SueM. The more I look at pictures the more I'm convinced that it may be worth a little extra sacrifice to make the beach club work. Btw- last time we stayed at BC we had a room on the fit floor in the volleyball courtyard. It was just a few steps from the marketplace and we loved it! Were you along that same little hallway, but higher up? How's the view up there? I'm thinking of requesting that same location for May.

Yes, we were on the CL floor. Quite near elevator to Marketplace. View was great, could see the Boardwalk off to the right, and the higher Illuminations over the roof. Found this out our last night :sad2:

I looked at that last week in August, decent prices, but DH can't be away from work at that time.

:sad2:

Got your info and forwarded it to Nannette- she has the pins, or what's left of them. Maybe around 8-9.

Thank you. The main problem is the location is my DH's main priority and a dull balcony is mine. I guess, I'll put my DH's first since he agreed to go back, even after saying this past June that we wouldn't go back for at least 10 years.

Would I have a better chance of getting both request if I check in at 60 days or wait until we arrive?

I agree the best chance is to have your requests noted on your reservation. This new 60 day check in is uncharted territory for us all, but I will say this, we stayed at POR in January when earlier check in started, and I checked in 20 days ahead and all 3 of my room requests I had on my reservation were honoured :goodvibes. So I'd be inclined to do the early check in again.

When I did on line check in for YC about a month ago, I actually didn't have any options. I thought it was because maybe I'm staying CL, so that really narrows down where we will be, but my BFF who is going too (staying GV) did not have any options either.

There is no confirmation email either. I just printed off the screen that says on line check in complete. HTH! :goodvibes

For our January trip we didn't have any request options either, yet I've seen posts that say they were given lots of request options  weird.

Is there more than one bank of elevators in the BC, I saw some by the quiet pool end but I'm sure I also saw some in the main lobby, perhaps I'm mistaken?

Yes their are elevators just off the lobby by Marketplace!

Ooooh! I know, I know!! Pick Meeeeeee!!

Yes! There is a bank of elevators by the (keep it) quiet pool! If you go in through the Beach Club, room 1501, (not so) secret entrance/exit you will walk by these elevators on the way to the lobby and you will pass by the "Famous Fish Lamp" (FFL in Dis Speak).

This fish lamp serves as an icon that you are almost there (the lobby) and are on the right path. When I passed by on my December stay there was a tour bus group that was posing with and taking pictures of the fish lamp. Apparently buses leave from Downtown Disney every 45 minutes filled with tourists just waiting to see this lamp. Rumor has it there is a woman on Etsy who is making Play doh replicas of the lamp and selling them for outrageous prices.

Whoop, whoop!! Beach Club Bonus! This elevator is also located very near the ground floor door to the BC (keep it) quiet pool so if your room is near that end of the resort you don't have to hump through the lobby in your wet bathing suit. Old Ninja Mom got to grace the lobby on the way back to her Club level room with her drippy self one night when I went to use the hot tub at the quiet pool after Storm Along Bay closed for the evening. I tried to use those elevators to get back to the 5th floor but the buttons only went up to 4 so I'm assuming there is no connection between the Club level rooms and the (Keep it) Quiet pool elevator.

There's those fish stories again  :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh yay, sorry, I couldn't remember who's doing the pins this time :goodvibes thanks!!

Too bad about DH! Ditch him and come anyway :rotfl::rotfl:

Actually, I should have clarified. DP has a thing about first floor hotel rooms, so ground floor would be out. Gazebo would be great. Do any GV rooms overlook the main back entrance? Or are those all considered water views?

I am not a YC expert with only one stay there under my belt (though I just booked our second officially - wooooohooooooo) but last time we had a room on the quiet pool side (so the rooms across the hall from the gazebo side) that was so pretty, lush and quiet. Pretty quick walk to lobby. If you look at the Disneyzone room map posted on the first few pages of this thread, you will see where I mean. The room categories on the map are outdated so it says they are standard but they should be garden view.

39 days until we arrive!! Last stay at BC was as a 11 year old child, long time ago! We will be arriving in MCO at 7:30 PM. How long does it take to get to the hotel on DME? Should we use the ME for our luggage? How long might it take to get our luggage? The kids are carrying their clothes onto the plane, DH and I are checking ours.

We're planning on going back to BCV next May but since my DD has 5th grade testing (no sure yet of dates but prior yrs were early weeks in May), I started looking into April. Easter is on the 20th next yr. How is the week after or even the last week in April be crowd wise?

:welcome: back!

I'll pencil you in on the list for April/May 2014. Let us know when your dates firm up.

:cool1:

I would love to be added to the list. The dates are 8/18-8/23.

I will look forward to any additional input that anyone would be willing to give me. Thanks!!

Got it!

:goodvibes

Howdy! Just found out today that my conference added Beach Club as an official conference hotel :cool1: So while I will miss out on POR, I am excited to be at Beach Club for a week in May!!! I've stayed at the Beach club back in 2008 and enjoyed it and have stayed in the Epcot area since then but I am most excited to try out the new Hurricane Hannah's!!! This place left much to be desired back in 2008 so I'm excited to try it again.

Even though I've been to BC before, I will probably have some questions so I appreciate all the help in advance :thumbsup2

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for May.

:yay:

Let us know how we can help with any info!

:cool1:

The two times I took ME from MCO to BC it was 1 1/2 hours from touchdown to the BC doors (with stops at POR and BWI). This was with a 10 am arrival time. Advice given here is to expect up to 2 hours.

I love using the ME for luggage! We just take anything we might need that day in our carryon. If you want you can stash the carryon with Bell Services if you want to go for a swim in SAB or visit a park while waiting for your room if it isn't ready.

Up to 3 hours for your luggage to appear in the room. It has been there when we have returned from the parks.

In October, we will be splitting a stay between AoA (9 days):woohoo: and YC (4 days) :cloud9:. Does anyone have any advice about whether or not it would be beneficial to do on-line check-in for the YC part of the trip?
Thanks!!

I have you on the list for Nov- does the YC part of your trip stretch into Nov?

I haven't seen this discussed- how does the advanced pre-registration/checkin work for split stays. Can you check into both places on the 60 day mark? Or wait until 60 days from the second stay? Or do two checkins???

In any event, your checkin would be sometime in August, right? Hopefully we will have more info and advice this summer about the advanced checkin.

:goodvibes

Not to rub it in, but...

Our check-in at BCV is in 5 days!!!

Anybody want me to check something out while we're there?

Hey, have a fantastic trip!!!

There's nothing that comes to mind right now, but my mo is to think of something for guests to check about after they have left for their vacations!

Hi Scott,

I'm pretty sure that the back of the resort is considered to be the parking lot side, not the water view. It is standard terminology to refer to the side facing the water as the front. To be on the safe side and to avoid all confusion, you might be better off not asking for the back entrance, unless you really do want to be above the driveway. :)

I finally took the time to do the online check-in. We arrive in 18 days. I decided to go ahead and do it because 1) We're staying CL SV, so that limits the options that I would be picky about (floor level) 2) Since our arrival is the week after Easter, I thought it would be a good idea to save time in any manner possible. I'm just excited to be staying at BC!:)

It seems that the options for CL were pretty much the same that are given to anyone checking in.

First it asked for your expected arrival and departure times.
Then a cell phone number for notification as to when your room is ready (if not at check in).
Then the credit card number to put charges to.
Then pin numbers for the adults. (It did ask for a pin for my 11 year old, but on the confirmation page, it doesn't show her as having charging privileges. That's how I'd prefer it, so I'm not sure why it asked for a pin.)
The options I was given were large balcony, near transportation, or lower floor. There was also a 4th button you could click on - that said "I would like my room to be ready before check in time, and understand that this would override other preferences." Or something close to that...

I too just completed online check-in, we're staying GV CL too. I thought that the option selections were silly, since GV CL is 5th fl. I would think since they have your room level they would tailor the options to your category, but it didn't. It also forced me to set a PIN for my 11yr old, (I tried to bypass it but couldn't), then on the final page did not show her as having privileges to charge (whew).

Thanks for your trip reports Natebenma! :worship:
