Question about the possible FD

I know that this will most likely go against most people here but....if there is FD offered in Sept. most people seem to think that the moderates will get the regular DP. What if you are at a mod. but only want counter service? Do you just lose the TS or can you get a credit or something?

You can use the table service credit at counter service on the regular dining plan...but it is straight trade...you just get a counter service meal for the table service credit (nothing extra to make up the difference in values.)

Most people don't choose to do that because when you pay for the dining plan, then using table credit for counter service meal is not a good value at all (your average counter service dinner would usually be under $20 cash cost...your average table service dinner would be closer to $40 cash. So obviously trading down to counter service is not good value.) But hey, if it's free dining, and it works better to have all counter service meals, go for it.

But I would suggest you "do the math" and figure out if a room-only discount plus paying cash for your counter service meal would be cheaper. It often is.:thumbsup2

Interesting question, but yes if you booked a free dining package then you would get whatever it was. So if it included table service, that's what you'd get.

Is there a reason you wouldn't want to partake in TS dining? If anything, pool them up and eat at some signature restaurants.

I was just assuming that if we were to do table service that we would need to already be booking them. I am so new to this that I don't know which way would be best. We will only be in the parks for one day but at POR for 3 nights. Do I need to book some TS just in case and then cancel if FD doesn't happen?

If you want to eat at any of the very popular places, then, yes!
