Can you use luggage carts at resorts?

We will be driving down in June and will be staying at BWV. Are there luggage carts we can use to take our bags to our room? I know they have bell services, but I'd rather do it myself. It could be a long walk to our room and a case of water could get heavy so if we're allowed to use the carts it would make it much easier.

I don't know wabout BWV but we've stayed at SSR and ASMo. SSR had carts near the elevators I believe. ASMo didn't have any and bell services were the only place that had them.

I've never seen carts available for me (granted, I've never asked anyone - just looked for them on my own). We've stayed at Pop Century, All-star movies and sports, SSRS, BLT, AK - jambo and Kidani, OKW.

I'm gonna keep up with this thread to find out myself if there are carts - I just hate how long it takes for bell-services to get my stuff to my room. And I've been told that they won't deliver if we are not in the room (unlike Magical Express).

We stayed at All-Start Music in January and we borrowed a cart from Bell Services. We did have to leave our driver's license though.

I've never seen guests using carts at BWV, I don't think it is allowed.

neither have i....
are you planning on leaving everything in the car if your room isn't ready when you get there? (three words: HOT WATER YUK!!;)) if not, it'll all be stored with bellservices anyway. they have a fridge for items needing refrigeration - put a few water bottles in a bag to store.

it would be a lot simpler just to allow them to unload everything, bring it all to storage or directly to your room (if ready). you can then valet the car, or park it yourself (the others may get out then and check-in, or walk back with you).
btw, bellservices is accustomed to loading/unloding suitcases that weigh about 50 lbs, and owners lockers that can weigh even more. a case of bottled water would be considered feathery in comparison to our OL

Normally, we like to do things ourselves as well. But at Disney, it's just not really possible with the size of the resorts and rules. I agree just let bell services do it for you.

I just ask for a cart at bell services, leave my ID with them, and take a cart. No big deal.

Have you been able to do this at the deluxe resorts? I have used, and have seen other guests use, the carts at the values, but never at the deluxe resorts. I just thought it wasn't allowed. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever noticed guests using the carts at the moderate resorts either.

Only if you bring your own. Bell Services won't let theirs go.

To be honest, even though I have a luggage cart that will hold up to 300 pounds, when I stay at BWV, I let Bell Services take care of the bags. I usually have four or five very heavy bags, plus a flat of water and a 12pk or two of soda. It's not the distance at BWV that gets me, it's the fact that you have to haul everything uphill from the parking lot! Plus, I usually have to make two trips as well. I get winded just thinking about it.

If you're driving and really want to take care of your own luggage, I highly recommend investing in a good luggage cart. I got mine at Staples a few years ago and it wasn't expensive (less than the luggage tips for a couple Disney trips, lol!). Just be sure to read and see how much weight the cart will hold. A cheap cart is totally worthless when you're hauling water and other heavy items on it (I had a cheap cart and it literally buckled under the pressure). I use the cart everywhere except BWV/BWI.

I have never seen a guest using a Disney cart at a deluxe or DVC resort.

I'm a DIY kinda girl. But twice I've let Disney bring my bags.

First time at Jambo House. We got there early to check in and really didn't expect our room to be ready, but it was. We decided to just let bellservices bring the bags. We waited an hour in our room for them to get there. We went to the front desk and they told us that bellservices could not bring the bags to our room if we weren't there. So we were stuck waiting for them since bell services already had our stuff.

Second time was at SSRS. We checked in early but our room was not ready. We did not want to leave our food and stuff in the hot car all day so we left our things with bellservices. Got back to our room late that evening and called bellservices when we were on our way back to the resort. We were hot and tired and wanted to take showers and get in the bed and still had to wait about an hour for our stuff to get there.

Before I get hate mail...I realize we are not the only guests there and they have other things to do too. That's why I'll take care of it myself. I honestly don't see why they can't just put it in our room if we are not there. If it's for a tip, just tell me up front there is a $15 charge or something like that. Don't they bring your bags to your room from Magical Express????

We will just lug our stuff on our own. I am going to see about buying a luggage cart, though. I didn't realize there was such a thing!

I read on these boards about how slow the ( I guess I should say) Luggage Assistance can be, so I knew that I did not want to wait on them, but we asked if we could use a cart & they said sure, we used it & then we gave them a $10.00 tip when we took it back (we did not have to leave a DL). YOU should have seen the look on the guys face that let us use it, he could not believe that he got a tip for not doing anything, the other guys was jealous. We had a lot of luggage & I did not want to wait on them for it, so this worked out good for both of us.
This was at A.O.A. Resort- A Value Resort

Not at a deluxe like BWV, it's not allowed. On our first trip to WDW at WL, I just assumed we could push our own carts...um no! I tried to walk off with our cart and quickly got informed that that's not kosher. I actually love letting Bell Services do it for me. I have never had issues waiting on our bags at check-in or waiting on them to come pick up for check-out. I don't think the Disney carts can fit through the doorways, but I have witnessed people hoarding carts at other hotels the night before (especially at beach condos for example) so they didn't have to wait for one. I am fine with Disney keeping their carts. With all those people, you know those carts would be flung all over the resort property and never in one spot.

Btw, I always keep a set of swimsuits handy at check-in so that my family can swim while we wait for our room. Typically our room is ready for us, but a few times we have had 2hr+ pool time right off the bat to start our vacation, which is pretty fun.

They won't deliver to an unoccupied room simply because they hope to be tipped. These CMs pretty much live off those tips. When using DME, tips are already included, so they will deliver to an empty room.

Ah, but you borrowed a cart from Luggage Assistance! Not the same as Bell Services. The deluxe resorts have Bell Services...everyone else has Luggage Assistance. With LA, you will get your bags but it can take quite awhile....especially at the value resorts. They wait until they have a sizable amount of luggage to take out, and then go. They don't get a call from a guest and immediately go get the bags and deliver them. With BS, you get almost immediate service. I have never waited longer than 15 mins for my bags to get to me.
At the deluxe and DVC resorts? I doubt that Bell Services is going to let you use their luggage carts. I have never, ever seen a guest with one..unless they were accompanying the CM who was bringing the bags to the room.
I have used one at Pop...but I had to leave my license with them, as well as my room number so they could access my account if needed. I took the cart, loaded it up (had an Owners Locker that was very heavy) and took it to the counter to have it checked and the OL taken back. Then, they gave my license back.

If we leave our stuff with Bell Services, can we pick up are bags and take them to our room? Or do we have to wait for them to bring the bags to our room?
Also, what about eletronic stuff like ipads and laptops, how secure is Bell Services? I know people probably leave stuff like that with them all the time. Has anybody had any problems?
Sorry for so many questions. I've never used bell services or anything like that. So I'm just trying to understand how it works. Thanks

DS and I had already checked in at BWV, our luggage had already been brought by ME. A little while later DDIL arrived, she had been visiting a friend and met us there. She had her bags, water, beer and some food. We asked if we could use a cart and they told us "they were a full service resort" and we could not. I explained we wanted this brought up NOW. We didn't want to waste time waiting around in the room for them. You have to be in your room if you store anything. They did have someone bring everything up right then!

As for having problems with storing things. We have never had any. You can tell them you have laptops and they will lock them up. They even have a refrigerated area if you have to store food.

We've done that one time too. And though they never said anything, I felt like I was being judged. We still gave them a tip for loading everything back up in the car.

Does the Tag Fairy ever visit way over here?:rotfl2:

We have used the carts at the Values, but had to leave a driver's license. At the moderates and deluxes, we've always been told no.:confused3 I just assumed it was because they wanted their tip, but even at the Values we always tipped the guy we returned the cart to, so they still got the tip.:confused3
