Good news and bad news. Good news is I booked 4 YC LV CL rooms for July 21-26, 2014. Bad news is my dreams of the Presidential Suite all went up in flames!!!! Called 499 days out and the Presidential is not available. I even tried changing my week and I still couldn't get it. I've never been so disappointed when booking a trip. I could get the Admiral Suite but if I'm going to actually pay that much money then I don't want to have to take something I really don't want (going up and down on the elevator to the lounge and the portholes for windows). Deep breath...... Couldn't get a suite at the Contemporary either!! I'm trying to spend money and Disney is not cooperating!!

Robyn: this means we're going to have one HECK of an Illuminations party!!!!

Cannot wait! We'll be there with bells on!!!!

I don't blame you for not taking the other suite. If you are spending that much money it should be exactly what you want. I'm sure you'll be able to figure out plenty of places to spend that extra money!

I don't know if anyone has seen the orbitz deal thread, but I just rebooked our ressie. Didn't get money back b/c there are no GV rooms available, but was able to save enough thru orbitz that I switched us to arrival night ONLY at YC GV (BC still unavailable) and kept it thru WDW directly using spring promo as a package with our 8 day tix...$1729. Then booked the last 8 nights at BC water view room only for $2696 thru the orbitz deal! So I ended up spending the exact same amount as our previously booked YC/BC all GV split but now we don't have to change rooms mid-trip AND we get WV for our 8 nights at BC!!:cool1:

Super excited!::yes::

:woohoo:

I'll make the adjustment to your listing.

After much back and forth, we are booked for end of Sept! Doing a split stay, last half YC/GV CL. Can't wait to get back to SAB!

:welcome: back

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Which resort are you splitting with?

:cool1:

So excited. I was finally able to add another night at our beloved BC to our April stay. We are now arriving on the 12th instead of the 13th! I wanted to do this a month ago, but there were no GV rooms available with the discount. But I kept checking back and finally found availability yesterday! Nw we will be able to relax, settle in and enjoy the resort more!

What are some of your favorite evening resort things to do?

I'll make the adjustment.

:goodvibes

We are usually at a park in the evenings, but a night time swim or going to the campfire or movie might be nice. Going over the Boardwalk is another idea.

:welcome: back!

I am so sorry that you didn't get the reservation at the Presidential Suite! Is there a waiting list or anything?

I am glad to hear that you booked some rooms though.

I am thrilled to be adding you to the list!

I have a question about room requests. I have a standard view booked at the YC. I know that I won't have a good view. But are are there some areas that are better than others? As long as I'm not overlooking a dumpster I'll be happy.

Never mind. I see that I can request a Woods View with online check-in. Hopefully if that's my only request I'll get it.

Of course in all of my trips to WDW I only recall getting my request once. So I won't hold my breath. LOL OTOH we've always been able to get into our room hours before check-in time. So I'll take the good with the bad.

A room on an upper floor facing the YC parking lot would have a possibility of seeing MK fireworks.

That's odd that you would have "Woods View" as an option, since that would be considered a GV, not SV category. I wonder if Disney is using the same set of options for both categories.

Its official. Christmas-new years is so much more tolerable than spring break. This is ridiculous.

:headache:

Sorry to hear that!

Hope today is a better day!

I just had a thought / question about the 60 day online check-in...

Our reservation is room only, and the cancellation policy says that you must cancel 5 days prior to your arrival date to get a refund of any deposits.

If you check in at the 60 day mark and then have to cancel for whatever reason, is that still OK? ie: Can you cancel and get your deposit back even though you've already "checked in"?

I'm guessing you could still cancel, but I wouldn't want to be surprised and find out otherwise. :)

Don't know the answer, but I would be the same as under the previous situation (10 day advance checkin, 5 day cancelation penalty policy). Still don't know the answer though.

Is there more than one bank of elevators in the BC, I saw some by the quiet pool end but I'm sure I also saw some in the main lobby, perhaps I'm mistaken?

I know for sure there is a bank of elevators (3 operational, 1 a false front) in between the lobby and The Marketplace.

.

Dee, Thanks for the welcome and thanks also for all the work you do on this thread! :goodvibes
We're doing a CR CL/YC GV CL split, end of Sept. So happy to be back in planning mode. :dance3:

Ooooh! I know, I know!! Pick Meeeeeee!!

Yes! There is a bank of elevators by the (keep it) quiet pool! If you go in through the Beach Club, room 1501, (not so) secret entrance/exit you will walk by these elevators on the way to the lobby and you will pass by the "Famous Fish Lamp" (FFL in Dis Speak).

This fish lamp serves as an icon that you are almost there (the lobby) and are on the right path. When I passed by on my December stay there was a tour bus group that was posing with and taking pictures of the fish lamp. Apparently buses leave from Downtown Disney every 45 minutes filled with tourists just waiting to see this lamp. Rumor has it there is a woman on Etsy who is making Play doh replicas of the lamp and selling them for outrageous prices.

Whoop, whoop!! Beach Club Bonus! This elevator is also located very near the ground floor door to the BC (keep it) quiet pool so if your room is near that end of the resort you don't have to hump through the lobby in your wet bathing suit. Old Ninja Mom got to grace the lobby on the way back to her Club level room with her drippy self one night when I went to use the hot tub at the quiet pool after Storm Along Bay closed for the evening. I tried to use those elevators to get back to the 5th floor but the buttons only went up to 4 so I'm assuming there is no connection between the Club level rooms and the (Keep it) Quiet pool elevator.

.

I don't know. WDW website lists YC standard view as "Views of Garden, Rooftop or Parking Area". Maybe they're talking about the treed area between the YC and the bus stop/parking lot. If you're on a lower floor it could look "woodsy".

We're planning on going back to BCV next May but since my DD has 5th grade testing (no sure yet of dates but prior yrs were early weeks in May), I started looking into April. Easter is on the 20th next yr. How is the week after or even the last week in April be crowd wise?

Thanks for the quick reply. I would love to be added to the Be Our Guest list, but we're still not sure where we'll be staying. Maybe you guys can help. We'll be traveling down May 11-18 and are booked at the BC in a garden view room. We've recently had to revise our budget and are now considering POR for a savings of $1000 (or $800 if we book a preferred location).

We've been to the BC before and just love it, but we've never been to POR. There are 5 of us and we've always stayed deluxe. Has anyone stayed at both? What were your thoughts?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

I'm not sure how useful my response will be, as I haven't stayed at POR (but have stayed at POFQ) and haven't stayed deluxe (but have stayed at the Dolphin).

We really enjoyed POFQ- the themeing is fun (as was what we saw of POR), and you can share resort amenities between POR and POFQ (like YC/BC). Rooms are nice, but motel style (outside corridors), and POR is HUGE! From what I remember POFQ gets buses first, so transportation could be a down side. There are rooms at the back of POR with trundles- we looked at that as an option when we were traveling with 5, but with 3 adults figured it was just 2 cramped and went with 2 rooms at POFQ. Your 4 year old could pretty comfortably use the trundle, from what I've heard. There are boats to DTD which are nice, otherwise, you're stuck with buses to get everywhere.

There are 2 separate sets of elevators, the set in front lobby & then 1 right near quiet pool. We stayed near quiet pool in 2011 & elevator was a few feet from our room. It was super convienent as we'd walk back from Epcot, walk past quiet pool into a back door which was right in front of elevator. We called it our secret enterance (it's diff that the secret enterance people show on here) as we didn't have to walk all the way down to lobby enterance. This was a great area to stay, we had great Boardwalk views from our room. :)

Just called WDW to make a final change to my reservations (added 2 more days of Park hoppers for the grand total of an extra $38.34....what a deal) and paid for my reservation in full. Sooooo, I am ready to go! Hurry up May 17th:cool1:

We're planning on going back to BCV next May but since my DD has 5th grade testing (no sure yet of dates but prior yrs were early weeks in May), I started looking into April. Easter is on the 20th next yr. How is the week after or even the last week in April be crowd wise?

The week after Easter is IMO just as crowded as the week before Easter (we've visited during that time 3 times -- they were all super crowded -- even some park closings). I'd think the week after (April 27th) will be much better. You can also tell by WDW pricing -- typically the week before and the week after Easter get "peak" pricing, just like xmas. I'd avoid those two weeks if you can. And if not, a good park plan works well, and the parks are open very late (so that helps a bit). Hope this helps!

Week before is the worst and of course that's when Jeanne has spring break from where she teaches and is coming here.

beachmom14, I know we are probably in the minority here, but we LOVED the week after Easter last year. But that's because we were willing to wake up super early and get to those crazy EMHs, take an afternoon break by the pool after our lunch ADR (weather was beautiful) and then go to dinner in Epcot. We were able to accomplish far more at MK and DHS on those mornings than during value season when the parks open later and close earlier.

But again, that's because we were at the bus stop around 6am and the parks were nearly empty for 7am EMHs. It's hard for most people to get there that early, and many don't even try because the parks are also open late.

Sounds like a great room, I guess you booked LV, I'm worried if I book GV and request to be close to elevators we'll get the tree, I'm sorry but I don't like the trees :(. I really want LV but after having to pay out a small fortune for root canal work last week and been told another tooth may need it there might not be enough pennies in the jar.

If we rent Sea Raycers, are we limited to just Crescent Lake? Can we go under the bridge by the Dolphin and Swan and along the waterway that goes to HS?

You sure can. We have rented sea racers from the BC marina several times and love to head over to DHS and back. It is a fun little cruise over there.

It's one of my favorite things to do in the area. It's wonderful seeing the Tower of Terror from your little sea racer!

For the last few years, my family and I have been staying at the Boardwalk Inn club level and loved it so much that we swore we would never stay at any other on property resort. My son found such a good deal for a stay at Yacht Club, club level, that we couldn't turn it down.

I was wondering if someone could let me know some differences between the two resorts and their club levels.

Thanks!! :)
