Yup! DD (32) and myself (30) enjoyed the slide in January. And if anyone is wondering, there is NOT a weight limit on it. DH and I are not precisely small, and I about died laughing when he asked the lifeguard, "So, how fat can you be and ride the slide?" I thought the lifeguard was going to choke trying not to laugh. "As large as you want sir, as large as you want."

They let me on it, so I am sure anyone can go on it.

I love the lifeguards response.

So I showed DH videos and pics of both FQ and Riverside. (And the RGRs) He seemed like he was with me in leaning toward FQ until seeing the RGRs vs the FQ rooms. I think the pool and slide at FQ would be better for our DS6 and DD2 than POR and I like the idea of the smaller resort and 1 bus stop. Thoughts?

Also, how busy does the FQ pool get in the summer (early August)?

We stayed POR early February and did visit POFQ pool because it worked better for our young kids. I agree that FQ being so compact will work better for a family with small children. We love POR but will probably wait until we no longer need a stroller to stay again. I too think the room pics but riverside ahead with style but that's not most important to me after lots and lots of walking at the parks.

We arrive at the end of next week:cool1:!

We've requested building 5 with a River View. We have the military 40% off so the splurge seemed worth it even though I know we don't have a balcony.

We've stayed at POFQ before when our DDs were 4 (and I had them at age 37, I love being an older mom, I feel like I dropped 10 years off my age, helpful since DH is 4 years younger than I am :rotfl2:).

Back then, it was the first pool slide they'd ever been on. Since then, they've been on many more and wilder ones--and will turn 9 while we're there. However, at WL or the Poly, there's always a line to wait in for the pool. After a few goes, they just play in the water anyway. I'm hoping the line won't be so significant here. Someday, we'll stay at the Beach Club and check out their amazing pool!

We're bringing my older parents and my sister who had foot surgery recently and is still recovering. So, size matters to us--no one is decrepit, but I want my parents to hang out by the pool with us and I can see my dad not bothering if it were far away and he was tired from park touring.

Question--can we bring pool games/toys? I don't remember, but I'd like to bring a ball to toss, that kind of thing.

I can't wait!!! We're :drive: down and I can carry anything I want to with us--any suggestions?

We took pool toys like dive sticks and a small ball with us and never had a problem. I would also look at the pool schedule and see what activities are scheduled. My kids were five and almow two at the time and the organized games were perfect for my five year old but none were geared for a toddler. However the slide was perfect for him. Other parents would freak out when they saw a toddler coming down the slide. There is also a nice playground next to the pool area. If you have favorite pool toys I would bring them, but I would not go out and buy any.

As far as what to bring: We took purina filter water bottles and they worked perfect for filling up at the parks and in the room. I don't like the taste of Florida water and the filters worked great. Also you have a small fridge so you can stock up on cokes, juice boxes, etc. With a car even if you forget something you can always go off property.

We stayed there February 6-12 and I'm so much in love with this resort! Our room was perfect, mousekeeper was spotless and everyone was friendly and very efficient. Our room request was granted, Building 4 ground floor, near the bus stop. We had room 4105 and it was THE best location. We got up early everyday and the food court was less than 200 yards away. Bus stop was right next to us. Grounds are BEAUTIFUL, specially at night. We used the boat to DTD twice and the ride was awesome.

The bus system was very good we only shared with POR during the afternoon. We only had one snag with the bus to AK but I understand that is common and now I've learned my lesson: get a taxi if you have a breakfast reservation for AK.

I'm now planning a 2014 trip and there's not doubt in my mind where we'll stay. This is now our home resort.

Yay! So glad to hear of a good trip! We leave in 54 days for our first POFQ, heck first WDW resort stay, and I simply cannot wait! I picked POFQ after all the lovely comments here, small size, and transportation seems to be fairly consistent. Thanks for the review.

Hope you get that request. So nice to only have to walk a few hundred feet to the bus stop, pool and food court.

Thanks for the review. This will be our first stay at POFQ. I think I'll put in a request for bldg. 4 for our June trip. If we get it, great! If not, we'll still be at POFQ! I'll be excited either way!

We never have had a problem getting to AK for a breakfast ADR using the buses. We usually get an 8:05 AM time slot.

We had a 8:05 ADR. On this particular day we got to the bus stop around 6:30am and there were NO AK buses till 7:40. We saw 4 MK buses, 2 EPCOT, 2 DHS and even a Downtow/BB bus but no AK bus whatsoever. And to make matter worse on that day we shared the bus with POR. We arrived at AK around 8:10 and had to run to Tusker House. I was really disappointed to miss the opportunity to take pictures along the way.

I complained to Disney and got the standard 'we're sorry' email, not that I was expecting anything else. I just wanted to let them know they should really pay attention to the ratio of buses per park during mornings.

So someone on the POR thread asked about the ac and ceiling fans in rooms. Is the ac a motion detector kind that you need to override for it to stay on? Are there ceiling fans in any of the rooms?

Yay! I get to follow this tread, too! We'll be at POR for a family trip in August, then just DH and I at POFQ in November. So glad it's a host resort for race weekend.

Joining in! I just changed the first few days of our trip from SOG to POFQ a bit ago. The kids adore POR, the boat to DTD, and were really sad about not visiting this trip. With some shifting, I was able to make it work, but there was no availability at POR with our discount...but I jumped at the chance of POFQ when I discovered there was! So excited!

We will be at POFQ for 3 days followed by longer stays at AKL and BC.
Now....off to read where the best room request for Garden view would be... we will have our car, so no bus needed.

First time at POFQ in May, can someone tell me about the Mardi Gras beads? As in are they available in the resort shop to buy?

We watched the film of the CM parade where they were throwing out the beads and sweeties and my daughter wants to know why? :thumbsup2

She is 22 by the way so not a child if that makes any difference although happy to be a child at DisneyWorld :rotfl2:
