HELLOOO!!!

We are visiting the World in August, too. Flying to Orlando Aug 4th, flying home Aug 10th. We will get to Orlando airport a little after 10 am. We are taking our three teenagers, and my hubbys parents are going as well. THey will get to the air port like 25 minutes after we arrive there, so I'm hoping we will be on the Magical Express together!! It's going to be mom & dad's first time there. We are so excited!!!

For me and the hubs, this is our third visit. We went in '09 with the kids for three days- did Magic kingdom and Hollywood Studios. We drove down and drove home. NEVER AGAIN!! :scared1: We stayed at POR and I just ADORE that resort!
August 2012, hubs and I went to he World alone. We spent 5 days there, and did two parks- Animal Kingdom and Epcot. We called it our honeymoon (married 18 years, have never had a vacation alone, and did not have a honey moon). We had so much fun, and were so relaxed. We stayed at Caribbean beach....it was OK, but I like POR better.

So this time we are doing all 4 parks, and we have a meal reservation each day. I am really excited to do some new stuff with the kids, and to go with his parents on their first visit!! We are staying at All Star Movies.

I'll post our ADRs in another post. :wizard:

Welcome! I can't wait to hear about your plans! We will be there after you though, not until the 18th.

We did O'Hana for dinner last year and WE LOVED IT!!! We even did the dance at the end. Hubby wore a Hawwiian shirt and the performer loved it so much she commented on it and gave him two leis :goodvibes instead of one LOL
We have reservations at O'Hana the first night of our trip. I can't wait to take the kids there.

We also really like the Coral Reef. DID NOT LIKE SHUTTERS AT ALL.

They say Shutters just got a new head chef - one off of one of the Disney cruise ships. I have never eaten there (I stayed at CBR twice and I don't think I even knew it was there), but supposedly it was really bad and now is much better.

Oh well, maybe I shouldn't rush things to much, by the time we go its the end of the summer and when we get back the kids are right into school.

This is what I tell the kids when they say all summer long that they can't wait for Disney! I say don't rush the days because then it will be over - just enjoy the anticipation and all life offers in between.

Now if I could only figure out how to take my own advice it would be all good :lmao:

Here;s our plan:

DAY 1: Flying from Dayton, Oh to Orlando, will arrive in Orlando airport approx 10 am
Get checked in, explore the resort, let the kids chill at the pool.
Dinner at O'Hanna at 5:15...I think we can watch the fireworks from the Poly, right?

Day 2: Monday- Dinner at Mama Melrose (Hollywood Studios) at 6:20.

Day 3: Tuesday- Dinner at Coral Reef at 4:00 (Epcot)

Day 4: Wendsday- BREAKFAST at Tusker House (Animal Kingdom)

Day 5: Thursday- Magic Kingdom this day. MK is my favorite park and I can't wait ti see the new Fantasyland!! We have the kids going to Crystal palace with Pooh and friends at 5:15, and just us adults going to Tony's TOwn Tavern at 8:00... we really wanted a dinner out away from the kids :thumbsup2

Day 6: Friday- Chef Mickey at 5:35.

Day 7: Saturday, our last day :lovestruc Figure we'll get checked out and hit Downtown Disney for some retail therapy. Our flight doesnt leave till 6:55 that night, so we will have most of the day!!

Looks great! And yes, you can watch the fireworks from the Poly beach.

I don't remember a single thing we ate when I went in '07  but I am looking forward to seeing my DD experience CRT, and 'Ohana!

At Ohana, if you have a Stitch plush or anything - TAKE IT. Great interaction! Lilo and Stitch both. :)
(Psst. Hi Tori! Now I'm feeling stalkerish. :rolleyes1 Gotta run back to my own thread! )

I have a pair of the go walks - although they are three years old now and have seen better days. But I just googled the other two you mentioned. I only see the recovery flips in men's. Do they make them in women's? Not that that is a huge deal - I don't mind wearing a men's, it's just harder to find the size sometimes. And as for the 5 fingers - these always intrigue me, but I haven't made the plunge. How are they? Do they take some getting used to? And are they comfortable around the toes?

I've only seen these on the Skechers site for flip flops:http://www.skechers.com/style/13558/skechers-on-the-go-escape/wbl So the recovery ones might just be mens shoes? :confused3

I need to get to Disney more......I just learned that Pleasure Island closed!!!!!!

And apparently they're overhauling all of Downtown Disney. Change is in the air!popcorn::
I'm gonna have a hard time calling it Disney Springs. That sounds like a resort, not a downtown shopping and entertainment district. Hello, it's called Downtown Disney for a reason!!

I agree! Downtown Disney is better.

Lol. I know! But I have a hard time every time they rename something. To me we still have:

Disney Village Marketplace
The Wedway People mover
Priority Seating
MGM
and
LOS passes (or passports even!)

All this means I will be using the term springs in about 5 or 6 years ;)

So funny and true. MGM still gets me!

I have women's flips. Amazon has them. http://www.amazon.com/Montrail-Wome...=1363298639&sr=8-1&keywords=montrail+molokini

The 5 fingers seem to be a love/hate thing with people. They feel different, yes but in the most wonderful way. If it was socially acceptable (and not gross) to walk around barefoot, I would. I have lousy knees and ankles from years of gymnastics and I feel very sure footed when I wear them.
It is very important to get the right size. They explain how to measure your feet on the Vibram website and you may wear a different size in different styles. The material around the toes is like a substantial pantyhose material :confused3. I don't notice it at all, but some people can't stand it.
They tell you to wear them for short outings and work up to all day wear. My legs were sore the first few times, just from using different muscles to walk. Now I love them.

Finally pulled the trigger and booked our vacation today :cool1:

Plans changed a bit - we decided on 08/13-08/15 at Art of Animation (Little Mermaid room, which my boys aren't too happy about ;)., but that's the only section with standard rooms). Then DH joins us for 08/15-08/20 at Poly - GV CL room. So excited :dance3::yay:

Current ADRs:
08/14 - Ohana at 5:05pm
08/15 - Chefs de France at 1:10pm
08/16 - T-Rex at 1:00pm
08/17 - Crystal Palace (not reserved yet)
08/19 - Via Napoli at 12:45pm

Planning on hitting BOG for lunch on 08/14. Now, come on August :thumbsup2

Isn't it weird that all my ADR's are visible on my dining experiences again after disappearing during whatever was going on last week except.....BOG. Should I be alarmed? I don't feel like calling Disney again!!!

I have a question for my fellow August travelers. What shoes are you planning on wearing/bringing? Normally I have a pair of comfortable sneakers for the mass amounts of walking we do, but with it being so hot this time I figure we'll hit water parks and water rides so I'm not certain what to wear/bring. We're also flying so I don't want to pack 18 pairs of shoes per person.

I was thinking about sandals or perhaps some of the finger shoes, but I'm concerned about blisters with those. I may just have to try some over the summer and see what works.

I live in my Disney Crocs at Disney and so do my 2 boys. They are the best shoes for me in August.

It will always be MGM to me :upsidedow

MDE makes me nervous almost every time I check it. And when it's not making me nervous, it just makes me mad! My countdown was off for over a month on there, so I called a day early for my ADRs. :badpc: It's no fun getting up at 6am and staying on hold for 45 minutes to be told I have to do it again tomorrow!

Okay I just stumbled across this... We are going August 18-25...didn't think we could, but we are!!! Yay!!!! Can I join Team August? :)
