We've all been there!

That's it Pat - I want to get inside!!! After watching 60 Minutes tonight, I am more determined than ever.

Not sure I can keep up with pace of this thread for another 17 months!!! Looks like some things are already booked up--can't believe Champagne Girls is already full :sad2: Guess we better figure out what else is happening and jump on it!

Andrea ... send Mary a PM and get on the waitlist for Champagne Girls ... there are bound to be lots of changes before we finally get to this cruise and if there is enough interest they may be able to do a second date.

Don't worry Sarah, Andrea is on the wait list :)

As we've said, if we get a full second list, we can ask DCL if they will run a second day for Champagne Girls :thumbsup2 but it's entirely at their discretion if they can do it

My vote is with majority for color of lanyards. I missed the name that was voted on (lots of pages to read to catch up) :surfweb: I would love to be wait listed for the champagne girls. Count 2 of us for Palo. I am definitely in on anything that involves chocolate.:worship: will need 3 spaces for the bus, but not sure yet on hotel. Lastly, I am so happy to be going on this cruise with so many Disney lovers like me from all over the world.:banana::banana:

Hi, just saw your post, I'll add you to the CG list, but could you PM me your details too please thanks.

Bless Claire's little fingers......she has updated the rum cocktail tasting and then added on our newest little "FAB" tasting to the list - Mixology! We are ALL going to have to owe her a FAB or two for all her hard work in keeping up and posting all these events! Great work Claire!!! :worship:

For those who have signed up for either the rum cocktail tasting or the mixology event, would you please look over the lists and let me know if I've gotten your correct information? If not, please pm me with the corrections. I would appreciate it! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the wonderful interest everyone has shown signing up for all these events......looks like a bunch of people who know how to have fun to me!!!:banana:

Thanks Claire !! :cool1::cool1: :drinking1: :drinking1:

Happy Mother's Day to all of the UK ladies. Hope it was wonderful!!

I had a lovely day, it is so nice to have a complete day off and be spoiled by the family :flower3:

I noticed some previous posted regarding the Sangrada Familia Cathedral and this is something that should be on everyones itenerary. I understand that some of you will be only staying a day or two prior to the cruise and visiting Sangrada Familia is not a disappointment. I took this tour in 2010 and it was amazing! I can't wait until 2014 because I will be back again. I also visited Gaudi's Park Guell, Casa Mila and Casa Batllo. The two casa's are within walking distance of La Rambla area. I hope those of you interested get the opportunity to visit Gaudi's works.

I second this! Gaudi was a genius and the pride of Catalonia (Barcelona is the capital of that area of Spain which has a culture different from the rest of Spain).

Barcelona has so much atmosphere, blending the new with the centuries old; be sure to do a ramble in the Gothic Quarter.

I heartily recommend that you read 'Shadow of the Wind' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon before going to Barcelona. It is a great novel set in 1940s Barcelona--part history, mystery, romance, thriller. Last time we were there, we had a great time doing a walk following the places in the book. I made a great scrapbook of black and white pictures with quotes from the book (I know, I can be a bit obsessive :rolleyes1 )

As a newbie, could someone please explain to me what Secret Mickey is? Thank you.

Secret Mickey is a take off on a Secret Santa, all who are interested submit your name to the person running it. She will at some point give you a name for another person who whats to do it also. Usually you tell what kind of things you like as in Mickey, Princesses, sports, and so on. There is a limit as to the amount to spent for your Secret Mickey. I think last time it was $25.00 and NO MORE, it can be one gift or more, it's up to you. Its a lot of fun to find a gift in your FE that is from the Secret Mickey. We meet at some point and "disclose who we are" :woohoo::wizard:

Hey Kathy! I just noticed your message about the tastings. I'm organizing the rum cocktail tasting and the mixology events. I didn't see LovingDisneyinCT on my lists, then I checked on the first page and didn't see your name. I'm not trying to be nosey, just don't want you to miss out if your want to attend these tastings. Did you send me a pm for either of the tastings I'm taking names for? :confused3

. . . I heartily recommend that you read 'Shadow of the Wind' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon before going to Barcelona.
Have you read Carlos Luis Zafon's 'The Angel's Game' (2008) and 'The Prisoner of Heaven' (2011)?

I am looking into a hotel in San Juan... Most of the boutique hotels require a 2 nights stay however, so I will be looking at larger places... I will put you on the Interested in San Juan hotel list...

Hi Susan,
If you are looking into a hotel in San Juan, and tentatively starting to make a list, I would LOVE to be on the list. I am hoping to spend at least 1, if not 2 nights post cruise. Thanks for looking into all this!!

Thanks for the great suggestions here. Will be spending a few days here with Holly prior to the cruise, and while I think we have some ideas, those ideas from people who have visited before are great:goodvibes

First of all, I want to say thank you to all of you on this list. It is wonderful to know that I'm not totally nuts for already planning and dreaming about the details of this vacation, that is still over a year away. I am not alone:rotfl:

Secondly, I've looked at flights, and suspect that we may end up on Aer Lingus from Boston. We can use our southwest points to fly to Boston from Kansas City. The schedule for this September has that flight (through Dublin) arriving around 10:00am. For those of you who have done this before, what have you done with your luggage until you check in to the hotel? Do you leave it at the hotel and then go explore? Will we all be too jetlagged to really do anything that day? I'm imagining our family showing up at the hotel and all falling asleep in the lobby until they take pity on us and let us check in.

:duck:

Yes, that's what we do.

To help avoid jet lag, we find it best not to take a nap. Go out, get some sunshine, and stay awake until 8:00 or 9:00pm.

I agree as well, great book! I read it before I knew I would be going to Spain, and loved it. After my EBTA cruise I had to read it again and loved it even more!

Absolutely incredible!! The last time we walked the full circumference of it, the lines to purchase tickets were so long, and we did not have the time to wait. This time, I will find out how to purchase tickets in advance.....
Thank you so much for letting us know it was on..

If you find out how to get tickets in advance let me know. We also didn't have the time to wait on the long line so we just skipped it. Only saw it from the outside on the bus.

I know it's possible to purchase tickets on-line in advance, but there are still lines once you get in, if you want to go up in the elevators, with waits up to a couple of hours. I don't recall all the details about the elevators and what you see from the upper levels. I think I read about it in one of Rick Steves' books. We'll probably just get the basic go-inside ticket and look around a bit. Unless we win the lotto and go a week ahead of time, then I'll hire a guide as see everything! :teeth:

Here is the website were you can buy your tickets online. http://www.sagradafamilia.cat/sf-eng/
You have to choose a time for entree and you can choose to climb the tower and you can also select the time for that.
In 2011 we buy the tickets for entree in advance and there were no lines to come in. We bought the tickets for the tower (elevator) at the entree and get a income time. There was a line for the elevator, but not long.

It's more then worth it to go inside. The outside is impresive but inside it's amazing. We had seen the church in 1999 and 2001 and now in 2011 and it so much changed.

If you want a fluffy book about Barcelona. I loved Brining Home the Birkin. It's a good read especially if you love anything to do with fashion.
