Greetings Mouseketeers! Ok, So my gal of 14 months and I are heading to WDW for a four day hopper in early June. Debating on popping the question at the end of Day one during the fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. Is this too cheesy? Any suggestions as to where the best spot would to be see the fireworks, castle, and it still be relatively romantic. I didn't think Epcott or any of the other parks would have quite the magic as the MK though I am open to suggestions. Is any special packages i could purchase to reserve a special spot. Thanks everyone!! pixiedust:

what about the wishes Dessert package?

hhmm. what about a wishes cruise on seven sea lagoon?

Will NOT be cheesy at all - I have always dreamed of being proposed to at MK - granted, hubbies proposal was still a dream come true, but any true Disney fan would be in heaven :) The only thing you'll have to worry about is crowds - unfortunately I don't think there's a good spot RIGHT in front where you won't be shoulder to shoulder with 500 other people. If that doesn't bother you, I would probably just try to get as close to the front of the castle as possible, but I've seen people line up 2 hours early for it.

Thanks, that is something that I was considering. I still don't want to totally blow the vacation budget with a $350 cruise....but that would be memorable and I am sure the romantic bonus points would be awarded for that.

Not familiar with the Wishes dessert package....I'll have to search that. Thanks Smidgy!

I would not do it during the fireworks. It would be too packed and too loud. Also, there is the possibility of dropping the ring which could be a real problem.

Thanks PSadvocate, I think she'll love it too...

I definitely don't want to be crammed shoulder to shoulder so maybe I'll back off from the castle some. Its been ten years since I've been to disney so I have a general ideaof where to go but I've been looking at the maps for some other ideas.

Oh how lovely! You could possibly get some cast members in on it (not guaranteed) to help you. Go to YouTube and watch Disney marriage proposals. There are some wonderful ones there where CMs assisted in getting it accomplished.

Well Smidgy, The Wishes Desert on the Terrace are unavailable for all four nights in June...that looked like something to do. I'll keep checking back to see if anything opens up.

The Wishes dessert party won't have released June openings yet. I'm pretty sure they only take reservations 60 days in advance (don't quote me on that, it might not be the exact number). Keep checking!

Cheshire Figment, you definitely bring up a valid point...and I've thought about that, heaven forbid I drop the ring..Ugh!! Based on all your stays at the park (almost an entire year!) you probably have a couple of ideas or locations to suggest. Thanks !

Now that is GOOD news...I'll set a reminder for 60 days prior. Thanks RHarper

This is probably a long shot, but...

DVC members are currently (until Dec, 2014 I think) being allowed to go to the top of Bay Lake Towers to see the fireworks. Could you plead your case to the person who mans the desk in the lobby of BLT ahead of time to see if you and your girlfriend might be allowed to go up one night?

There's a really nice view of the fireworks from the balcony, with the music and story piped in. It's a long-distance view, but still really pretty. There will be a lot of people, but it will be much easier to find a little privacy and I think would be very romantic.

Maybe in a few years, you can buy a few DVC points and take your wife and children to stay at BLT Towers!

Thanks Maleficient! I''ll definitely check those out, maybe get some good ideas. That would be awesome if I could get some CM's in on it...now how to do that without her having a clue will be another problem. Too bad there isn't an engagement concierge at the main gate...

FYI, for some reason the fireworks party has been booking 30 days out instead of 60 for the last couple of months. April reservations (for the entire month of April) opened up on March 1. So, definitely check on April 1, but if the system still says no reservations, you may need to wait until May 1. I just don't want you to get discouraged if you see no availability on April 1. ;)

Even though the dessert party is a buffet, there are servers there (they clear away plates, and also bring out specialty plates like desserts for people with allergies), so they may be able to help you with something special.

If you decide not to do the dessert party, the rose garden between the castle and tomorrowland bridge is really pretty. It can get crowded, though.

My husband proposed in Disney in front of the castle. It wasn't during the fireworks though, he did it during the day and told the PhotoPass photographer ahead of time so the whole thing was captured in pictures. I wouldn't have changed a thing!!!

Thanks Donald, Buzz, & Minnie, That looks like BLT is a monorail ride to the Contempoary and then a walk to BLT. Definitely worth considering. I'm sure I could plead my case and "grease" the lobby host That's another hip pocket idea for me.

Thanks Cristen, That has crossed my mind too. that way she can see the ring sparkle in the sun all day long. I don't know if that would be too soon on the first day....she has to have some suspense. :)

Roger that Karmacats, I'll have that as a daily planning item until it opens up. Thanks!
