Tips for dealing with the long wait till our next trip to WDW?

Looks like it will be another year until our next trip to the World. Last one was in October of 2010. How do you satisfy that WDW anxiety/itch in the meantime? I find myself watching youtube videos, and spending time on these boards. Anyone else going through this and what makes it easier? :confused3

Staying on here is a Good start.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2.

Constant planning & planning, and planning some more.lol.

I've found that avoiding all Disney stuff is actually what helps me. Different for everyone, but being on these boards and watching Disney videos on youtube just make me 'Disney-sick' (as opposed to home-sick!). The last time we went was in March of 2011, and I haven't been on these boards since then, til now, since we are planning a trip for fall of this year. I still get pangs for Disney, but I try to distract myself with other things until it's time to start planning another trip!

Reading Dis trip reports.
Youtube vacations
Visiting the Disney store and talking to the CM there. Most of our store employees are also DVC members. We share stories and tips.

I too experience that anxiety! Currently I'm having lots of Disney withdrawals! We had 2 DL trips planned this year but decided to go to WDW just before going on our cruise in October! We live at Lake Tahoe so we don't get to Florida often enough! :(
I have several friends that are going to DL for spring break and I'm feeling Jelly! So I feel your pain! ;)

I swear you just read my mind. I'm also "Disney-sick"!!! I spend at least an hour every day on the DISboards :rotfl2: and I'm constantly on YouTube. :cool1: The biggest advice I can give you is to explore! Explore the internet, searching for new restaurants you might want to go to next time and research the hotels! Maybe you will find a hotel you've never stayed at before and love it!!! :woohoo:

My last trip was a sort-of last minute trip in Oct 2012. My next trip is hopefully 2015. I spend my time reading all about the other resorts only bc I am not very familiar with all of them. I have made a Disney bucket list. I have planned out "dream" trips and priced out various packages. I have read easywdw for some entertainment :rotfl: I have read the Universal boards bc I am planning on going there as well. (I know- the dark side!)

Good luck!

I listen to WDW cd's in the car (Wishes, Illuminations, Songs from the Parks, etc.). I also go through my F&W cookbooks or Cooking with Mickey cookbooks and find something that I can make. Go on Disboards. I also DVR the Christmas parade, when the History Channel had a documentary on Walt, Samantha Brown's tv shows. I also wear something Disney every day (earrings, watch, sweatshirt, etc).

It may not make time go faster but it's a band aid for now!

I am turning 30 this summer and I wanted nothing more then to spend my birthday in Disney. I remember going once in August and it was really hot and humid but I don't remember it being too crowded. All the websites say its a bad time to go and its extremely crowded. Anyone ever been there the first or second week in August??

Gus I've never been there before in August and we had considered it this year, but after research we decided against it. I think we will hit it over Spring Break 2014. Still super busy but hopefully a little better weather! But if that was the only time we could go we would just go and still have a good time.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I think I'm going to spend this year learning, planning, and saving. Hopefully that will scratch the itch haha!

Ok thank you! I don't mind the heat and crowds, it's my husband but since its my birthday I guess he will have to deal with it!

It's WDW so you're going to have fun anyway right!!!!! Enjoy your Birthday there and make sure to get a Birthday button as it makes it even more special. :)

I know this can get kind of expensive but sometimes I go to ebay or disney store and find things on sale. Maybe a 99 cent trinket or a t shirt. It gives me something to look forward to in the mail. Don't go crazy though. Don't want to encourage a hoarding situation :).

Feelin' ya!

Not only do we have about 9 months till our WDW trip it's also going to be a surprise so I can't say anything to my kids about it. :joker:

AYE!

I'm going to get the "four parks one world" CD for my birthday.

Keep checking the boards and the Disney World site.

As well as keeping track of airfare prices.

I REALLY want to fly, but if the price isn't good enough we may end up having to drive. And if we drive :drive: we may have to take a few extra days off.

Well- something to keep me occupied till then!

Here's to a great group of people here on the Disboards to make the Disney pixey dust last and last no matter what our trip status may be!

:cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2:

I LOVE THIS THREAD!! Now I know I'm not alone. My DH thinks I'm Dis obsessed, which, well, I AM!! :rotfl2:

I get e-mail updates and weekly news letters from other websites like Mouseforless and Undercover Tourist. :surfweb:

And yes, this is THE BEST place to get my Dis fix. I can read for hours and chat with other enthusiasts.
:grouphug:

PS-sorry for all the shouty caps

Thd only thing that differs in August is the crowds, and significantly too. Heat, you can't change from week to week, but going to WDW in those: 1st 2 weeks will be busy. Southern schools getting their last disney fix in before the start of school. It changes by the 3 week & drastically by the 4 th... Its mostly people from the Northeast and crowds are fine. HtH...Enjoy and Happy early Bday.;:wizard:
