3 cruises, 3 visits to CC

two were in july - no problem
one at the end of october (i think oct 23) and we were very lucky...
we made it into CC and had a gorgeous day
the cruise after ours didn't get too CC and didn't get to nassau...
it was a crusie to nowhere - basically a cruise that was constantly on the run from hurricane sandy..

but our cruise made it into CC and it was wonderful :)

We have been lucky.

6 cruises and 8 stops at Castaway Cay (two double dips) We have sailed in April (1),May(1), July(1), August (2) and October(1)

We cruised twice in January and never missed CC. Out of 11 cruses we missed it once and it was February.:thumbsup2

We had much better weather on our jan cc day than in july

We had beautiful weather on CC this Jan 10th..but the ocean water was not warm enough for me to swim. Enjoyed the pools on board!

Out of 10 cruises since 2004 we missed CC twice....in Sept. 2010 for two days could not dock at CC on the Wonder. In April 2012 on the Magic, weather was so cool and rainee, we did not even leave the ship along with 99 % of the other crusers. That 1 % went out there on the beach....I guess to say they where there.

I thought I'd weigh in -

Been on 7 cruises & have been to CC 9 times (2 were double dips to CC). Cruised in Jan, Feb, June x2, August, Oct & Dec. We have yet to miss CC. We came close once, but Capt John ended up getting us docked. We've had to leave early twice due to incoming storms (both time all aboard at 3:45 & departure at 4pm).

On a 4 day sailing do they try to dock on the 'sea' day if they miss CC on scheduled day?

We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow! I sure am hoping that the majority of those January misses are the beginning of January and not the end!I would hate to miss CC, but I understand it can happen. After six cruises with DCL and two of those double dips, I am 8 and 0 at CC! Meaning, I have never missed it and we have cruised Nov, Dec, Feb, and May! sure hoping this cruise doesn't dash those stats! :goodvibes

hmm, wonder if it does make a difference. Can those who posted here as to missing CC in January, come back & state what week they sailed?;)

If you look at the link below it is quite windy in the Winter months.

http://www.windfinder.com/windstats/windstatistic_freeport_grand_bahama.htm

perhaps my brain isn't working after a very long day but wind speed looks fairly consistent with January having 10 mph vs 12 in Feb, March & April

and wind probability for January is 32 vs 42, 45 & 42 for Feb, March & April.

the table seems to indicate that Feb, March & April would be worse than January:confused3

throw me a lifeline if i'm reading it wrong lol

we've done Dec several times and were fine but wear rash guard shirts, that help to keep warm in water, and pray for a sunny day.:)

Trying to settle upon a week next January that will be best for GD's first cruise.:goodvibes Was going with one on 1/6 but it dawned on me we'll be running into NYE guests pre and marathoners afterwards at WDW.

MLK week is out, prices too high. Leaves me with 2nd or 4th week of the month, guess i'll flip a coin.

That would be an option that might be helpful

I think I was looking at the poll and matching it with the Beaufort scale, which is wind intensity just above the sea and then interpolating what matched with the poll.

When our kids were in elementary school we would take them out of school for those weeks, cheaper flights and cruises. Now that they're in High School it makes it more difficult so we bite the bullet and go on school vacations.

Have cruised 3 times in various parts of Feb and have made CC each time. Have actually had good weather each time and have been in the sea each time.

This May will be our 5th cruise and we have never once missed it. Super glad about it too! Its so pretty and would be a shame to!

We missed Dec. 19th 2012, read my story on my profile!

If you sailed on Mar 1st from Galveston on Magic, besure to get your 15 dollar port tax for each person in your party for the Castaway Cay missed port. Just email Disney Cruise Line at dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise dot com and state that you want this credited back to your account. Your welcome.

I picked March but I don't know if that was truly because of the weather. They said the currents were to strong to dock that day. It was also fairly cool and windy out so it might nor have been great beach weather anyway.

It doesn't take much wind to overwhelm the side thrusters on the ships because of the large surface area that acts like a giant sail.

We missed due to hurricane Irene. Even the cast members said that was worst storm they ever sailed through
