Pushy DVC Sales People for Add Ons

I bought DVC 2 years ago directly from Disney off one of the tours and the lady we worked with was great. Then last year we decided to consider adding on so I contacted DVC trying to get my original lady but somehow ended up getting someone else. We decided not to add on as we were saving for our Disney Wedding and had enough points for the entire honeymoon. Now a year later, we're out of points and need more for our vacations and since we're not saving for anything, we can allocate our funds. I contacted our contact from last year and he seems really pushy, like you must buy now. We're still deciding how many points we want and we're actually considering a sizable add on and need a month or so to gather the necessary funds (between cash an a small personal loan through my employer - i work at a bank and get preferred rates). My contact keeps calling me pushing me to do the add on now and I really don't want to. My original lady was so carefree and not pushy and this is really frustrating. Has anyone experienced this? Can I request a new agent.

PS - We decided against the resale market for a variety of reasons, so please don't recommend that!

Thanks in advance everyone!

I actually just posted a response to a similar question in a different thread.

My first guide pushed Old Key West and, after several phone calls, I actually gave in. She kept emphasizing the value, extension and features that made this resort a standout. Moreover, she presented it as though it was the only option at the time. Fortunately, when the documents arrived, I came to my senses and realized an OKW purchase would not be fitting for my needs. I called Disney Quality Assurance and was reassigned to someone else, who reviewed my family's vacation history and "encouraged" a VWL purchase.

As awful as it may sound, DVC wants your business and money. Quality Assurance will do whatever is reasonably necessary to earn your business. They will reassign you if you request it.

It's your money and your vacation time. You should be working with someone who understands you and your needs.

The next time he calls, just ask him not to call you again as you are not ready to actually purchase. Tell him that you will call him when you are ready.

If he continues to call, then do as the pp suggests.

Part of the rush may be that DVC will be raising the prices on many (most? all? I am not sure) of the resorts on March 20th. But yes, they want your business, and letting you off the phone gives you more time & opportunity to research resales. LOL

I wanted to change my guide last fall, and I just had to request it in writing. It wasn't for any bad reasons, but I had never met the quide I had been assigned when I did my first phone tour. When I did my first DVC tour at WDW, my guide that day was great (unbelievable, but actually admitted resale was probably the best choice for me as long as I understood its limitations). So I just asked if I could switch. It was no problem.

You called to inquire about buying, seems reasonable they would try to get you to follow through since that's their job. This is part of the risk of going retail. You can certainly request a new guide and you likely should if you're uncomfortable with your current one.

If you are thinking to purchase in a month at one of resorts that is increasing, I would buy by March 20, or go into a contract before then.

Remember, even though it will take a month to get your finances together, they still have to send you the paperwork for you to look over, sign and send back, by then it will be a month out and you will lock in at prices before the increase.

Our guide that we did the tour with was great but left DVC within a year of us buying at BLT. The one we were assigned to after that was horrible. I tried to contact him a couple times about adding on points and always felt that I was bothering him. I suspected it was because I wanted to add-on and not do a new purchase. I called and asked to be reassigned. It was no problem. Received a call the next day and completed the add-on within the week. His name is Don Deal. He is very informative, patient and willing to go that extra mile for you.
