How many Disney Visa rewards points do you have?

Any other Disney Visa rewards savers out there? I am saving points for our April 2014 trip. I am hoping to have enough points to cover our food and our park tickets. I dont know if I will be able to have that many (we are a family of 4 'disney adults') but I am working on it. Right now I have $1,707.

Any tips for earning more? I have not seen a 5x rewards offer in forever! I do have the premier card...it has paid for itself several times over.

None. I have the card, but don't use it because the bonus offers are few and far between, and it's probably not one of the best out there for earning rewards.

Yes, we all love Disney rewards, but they are worth about 1 cent each. I prefer to use a card that I can earn double points on certain categories such as paying for air travel OR if you don't want to be bothered, just get a cashback card and put the reward in the vacation pile. The earnings are the same.

If you spend a lot on travel or dining out, right now the Chase Sapphire Preferred pays double points on those categories (worth 2 cents each) and will also get you 20% off travel you book with them using those points. This card costs $95 per year, and the Disney card is free, so it may not be worth it for you if you don't spend a lot each year.

I have the premier disney visa card - so it is 2% on gas, groceries, restaurants (includes walmart, target, etc). I have more 2% rewards at the end of each month than 1% rewards....and it is $49 per year. PLUS - we just find it fun to use and save this way!!

That's great. My big expense is the travel part - which includes tolls, parking lots, taxi rides, subways, commuter train tickets, in addition to the normal travel categories. Between that, and dining, which includes all types of restaurants including fast food, I rack up a lot of those double points each month.

But if you spend a lot in those categories, then the card works for you ^^

I still like the 20% off travel when I book using points via their website.

Since everyone spends differently, everyone needs to assess the rewards of the card their using to find the best one for them ^^

I don't usually have that many, but we have been going every year and I tend to use them every year. We typically have $200-$300 in rewards points (although, I think it'll be around $150 this year as we spent a lot more last year in home improvement projects). The problem is I also want to use our Southwest card for everything because we usually take two vacations a year that we like to fly for so I use this card first to get enough points for at least four roundtrip flights before I start using my Disney card.

I currently have $945. Based on past spending, we will probably have about $1,300 when we go. Should be enough to pay for food, MNSSHP, BBB and Pirates League...I hope.

Although there are cards that give more bang for your buck, we find the Disney card works for us. If I got $$$ back instead, I would be tempted to put it on other things. This way we're forced to save up and get a much cheaper vacation every few years. YMMV

I would also love any tips on earning more DD. We also have the Premier card and use it for everything I can think of (restaurants, gas, groceries, car insurance, phone/internet/tv bill, gas bill). Is there anything I'm missing???

The Disney Rewards Dollars are worth $1 each, not a penny. But I do agree that there are better rewards programs out there.

We currently have $244 which is from Nov. '12 to now. We also have the premier card, so we earn 2% on a lot of our purchases. We plan to use whatever rewards we have accumulated during our October WDW trip. :goodvibes

I took that to mean they are worth 1 cent per $1. spent - which is actually accurate for the 1% earned. And I agree with several pp that there are better reward programs.

Except you need 100 points to get that $1, so the points are worth a penny each or 1% back on each dollar you spend on the card.

Unlike many other rewards credit cards, here are no points. There are rewards dollars which are awarded at a standard rate of 1%.

I think we're talking around the same thing. You only earn 1% on your purchases unless you have the upgraded card. Other cards pay more and can be more flexible.

All I was saying is that I prefer to use other card(s) to earn more flexible and lucrative rewards than what Disney offers. In my book, the regular card offers some of the worst value rewards out there - and my reason is twofold - you can only spend them at Disney related businesses - and ti only return 1% on your purchases.

For some people, that may be fine. Or they may have upgraded. For my spending patterns there are better cards out there. I highlighted my reasons. Perhaps it will help someone with similar spending habits realize there are better, more lucrative options out there. They may not have Mickey Mouse on the front of the card, but in the end, what ends up in your wallet is what really matters.

we put EVERYTHING on our card! We've got the Premier visa, which I was totally reluctant to get because of the $49 fee, but my friend kind of showed me how many points she had, so we switched.
We have been saving our points since October 2010 for our trip this June. To give you an idea... we got the original offer for 200 Disney dollars per card (and we each got one) so that was $400 disney dollars to start. (this was the original chase card)Then we switched to the premier chase and the amount of points racked up REALLY quickly. In total, we put down $1500 in Disney rewards dollars on our trip.

We've since earned (as of yesterday) another $110 in Disney rewards dollars. So whatever is in there before we leave, I'll put on a rewards card and we'll use that for spending money and out of pocket meals, or souveniers. I'm hoping we'll be close to about $200 before we go. So you can see, the $49 fee per year was well worth it.

This is what we do: when Kroger ran their 4x fuel points on gift cards, I bought gift cards to get the 2000 fuel points. We took the money we saved from our vacation account, bought the gift cards w/ our Disney visa and then paid the disney visa from the vacation account. This also gave me 2% on the purchase (grocery). So we got the fuel discount as well as the Disney dollars. win/win. :yay: We turned right around and paid our vacation w/ the gift cards. Everytime our car insurance is due....disney visa. Comcast/ Directv / cell bill....disney visa. You will be amazed how it adds up. We actually do the Dave Ramsey plan w/ the envelopes. So what I do is, I have a Chase Visa envelope also. when I go food shopping and put it on the card, I then take the cash from my food shopping envelope and put it in the chase envelope and enter the amount on a piece of paper. Same w/ gas, movie money, out to eat, all the cash goes into the chase envelope. It's budgeted and accounted for, so I'm paying everything off a few times a month and we never run a balance. ( I know, we don't have to do that, but I feel ALOT better if I do) Oh, we also put the vet bills on there, home repairs....then we take the budgeted cash and put it in the envelope. We're basically using it like a checkbook, I guess.

But it's working and I'm thrilled with it. :goodvibes

We have $852 in reward $ that we've been saving up since 2009. Obviously we're not big spenders but we do use another card more regularly for the better rewards, but something towards our trip is better than nothing. I do like the 6 mos same as cash on the disney vacations.

We used $757 toward our air fare for our trip in June. It took us a little less than a year to save that amount up. We started with a zero balance 2 months ago and we now have 129. We hope to double that by our trip in June as it will pay for some of the character meals during our trip!

we have three cards total and maybe theres about 100 total.
We prefer using our Southwest cards for everything, so far we've had 8 round trips FREE for 3 of us and just short of another set of three ...till late march :cool1: its all good! No interest and FREE flights, cant beat it! pixiedust:

i dont have a premiere but i have a regular one. i figured it would not work out for me to pay the $49 fee but i wasn't aware transit was 2%. so i use a bus pass and metrocards monthly. do you mean i would get double rewards if i had the premiere with those?

I think Mary2e was talking about her Chase Sapphire card (which has a $95 fee) that she mention in this thread. The Disney Premier card does not include 2% rewards for travel other than Disney related travel.

I believe the poster came up with the value of .01 by dividing $100 by $1 meaning you have to spend $100 to get the $1 in rewards
