WISH Away The Pounds - Marvelous March Challenge ~~ All are WELCOME!

Happy Tuesday all!

QOTD for Tuesday, March 5, 2013:

Do you believe that changing your OUTSIDE will change your INSIDE? Physically? Mentally? In what ways? If not, why not?

If you are at or near your goal weight, do you feel that your weight loss has changed you?

Just jumping in here with today's QOTD as I haven't had much time to be on here. I think my OUTSIDE impacts my INSIDE by how I feel about myself. I am currently not happy with myself in many ways....I have been under a huge amount of stress for just at 2 years now (God...please give me a break) and I can see it impacting how I respond to my children....I have no patience to speak of....and how I respond to my husband. Also....just disappointment with myself in general for allowing my weight to get THIS out of hand. I'm hoping that by working on this area that I do have absolute control over it will help me better deal with those things I don't. That's the mental part of it....the physical part of it will be being more comfortable in general and being more willing to run and play with my kids because it doesn't feel like I'm about to collapse immediately.

I'm doing really well following my diet this week. I have not started exercising yet....but I'm taking it in baby steps.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Good afternoon all!!! Busy morning here in the household followed up with a visit to ANOTHER podiatrist. More on that after the QOTD.

Absolutely changing my outside changes my insides. :thumbsup2

1) I have energy!!! I will admit that my diet was garbage which made me feel like garbage. Plus my digestive system was awful, from reflux and beyond.

2) Mentally, it is better for me. Not only do I know that I am caring for my health but clothes fit better which makes me feel and look better.

3) Weight loss has changed me in a sense of feeling better about myself which is a good change.:goodvibes

Now for the foot saga update....

OK, so I decided to get another opinion with my foot issue since the "minimalist shoes" were not helping and going barefoot resulted in me limping more.:rolleyes2

This podiatrist of course was against what the other podiatrist prescribed. This is her treatment plan....

1) She actually addressed the pain in my toes and said she thinks that I have nerve inflammation.

2) Do not wear minimalist and do not go barefoot. Instead she sold me orthotic inserts at 40 bucks and said to wear these always until the inflammation is gone.

3) She has prescribed me anti inflammatories for 30 days.

4) I am going to go to PT starting Thursday.

I asked her about the cold laser and reflexology and she said she did not think any of it would help since she believes it is a nerve issue.

I am going to go with her treatment plan over the other podiatrist since I believe the other podiatrist did not properly diagnose me.

And the saga continues.....Let's hope this works.:badpc:

I hope it works for you, too! :flower3: My PF was helped by never going barefoot and wearing orthotics so I hope it works for you. pixiedust: that you will be putting your foot problems behind you for good soon!

I have decided I want to lose 2 pounds in March. For exercise I will be focusing on my physical therapy and low impact cardio, so I'm counting on building muscle and not burning quite as many calories as when I'm running.

Yes and no. I have been maintaining or a few pounds above my goal weight for three years now. My confidence and comfort in my own body has certainly increased. And I know being active needs to be a part of my life. I found running/walking races and got my DH into it too. But on the other hand, losing weight was not a magic fix for every issue in my life, kwim?

Nicole, I'm glad that your recovery is going well! :flower3: How does your DD like her new school? I'm looking forward to seeing you in August. :dumbo:

MM--And I will add, I go barefoot now and haven't worn my orthotics in probably close to a month, BUT it took me a long time (over a year) to get to that point. I had to ween myself off the orthotics, and I still wear my merrell sandals if my feet are sore. It is not something that goes away quickly (much like weight loss ;) ). I still get scar tissue in my foot, but I now know how to deal with it.

As for the nerve issues, I had nerve pain in my foot along with the fat pad issues, tendonitis, p-f, ankle sprain, etc and it eventually went away as well. I think the e-stim really helped with that.

I keep sharing this all with you, just so you know, it really is fixable. :) Everyones experience is different, but I want you to think positively. :)

What is the "e-stim"?

I appreciate the advice, believe me. I am very cautious with doctors because well, let's face it, a bad doctor can mess you up pretty wickedly.

I got bad vibes from the last doctor when he expected a reflexologist to fix me and I had to pay OOP for it. Hmmm.

I know it is fixable, I just want to EXERCISE NOW....lol.:yay:

I told my new podiatrist I am gardening this weekend no matter what. She told me how to do it safely. Use a stool and not to bend my toes.

I have my fingers crossed for the PT on Thur. Thanks again!

QOTD for Tuesday, March 5, 2013:

Do you believe that changing your OUTSIDE will change your INSIDE? Physically? Mentally? In what ways? If not, why not?

If you are at or near your goal weight, do you feel that your weight loss has changed you?

I do think changing my outside will change my inside, in much the way others have already stated... If I am doing the work to get healthy, I will feel proud of myself, in control of my life (at least in that aspect). And if I lose weight I know I will like my appearance more and, again, feel proud of all the work I have done! I don't think it will be a magic ticket to a better life, but I do think I will be a generally happier person and that goes a long way toward a better life :)

*****************************

Speaking of feeling proud, I am proud that I did a workout today. I wasn't going to... I have not been sleeping well and I was just going to take the day off (except for the 15 mins of climbing the stairs at work I did on my lunch break) and go to bed because I was sooo tired. But I knew I was going to fall just short of my target calorie burn for the day so I decided to walk/run on the treadmill for 20 mins! :yay: So, I have a LONG way to go to catch up to you runners out there... it took me 16:45 to do a mile! BUT I did it, and I had said I would run at least 5 mins of that mile, which I did. Downside... now I am not tired and I think I may have trouble sleepng again tonight :upsidedow

Hello! Busy couple of days - now I'm up late (argh, as usual) watching the snow come down and hoping like mad for a snow day tomorrow. I'm not a winter fan, and this last blast is not making me happy at all...the least it can do is give me a day off! Right? ;)

QOTD for Monday, March 4, 2013:

Today is a NEW DAY! A new week, in a new Month! How are YOU going to make this your BEST MARCH EVER? Meal planning? New exercise routine? New recipes? Committing to weighing/measuring food portions? Strict food journaling?? How are you going to make sure that your choices are taking you in the direction in which you want to go??

This time last March, I was on my way to getting rid of the extra pounds I'd been carrying around since having DD6 (then DD5). I was starting to feel stronger and more confident, but that doesn't compare to how great it feels to be back in non-paying lifetime status at WW, maintaining at goal weight, and running my heart out. My plan to make this the best March ever is basically just to keep doing the stuff I've been doing! March is a weird month for me...not quite warm enough to get psyched for spring, but I love getting the later daylight back, and spring break is a welcome break in the routine. So I'm just going to keep running and taking care of myself - and then let it all slide just a teeny bit when DH and I go away while the kids are on break at Grandma's!

QOTD for Tuesday, March 5, 2013:

Do you believe that changing your OUTSIDE will change your INSIDE? Physically? Mentally? In what ways? If not, why not?

If you are at or near your goal weight, do you feel that your weight loss has changed you?

I do think getting back to goal and maintaining that loss has changed me. Losing weight gave me the confidence to try something new (running) that I never in a million years thought I'd do, let alone enjoy. It took a while, though. The outside changes came well before any inside changes when I first made WW lifetime back in 2002. I was wearing smaller clothes, and people were noticing the changes, and I could see that I was thinner, but...somehow I still had the larger me inside second-guessing my successes and making me feel like it was all just temporary. Then I had my 2 DDs (now 8 and 6). I carried a good 25-30 pounds from those pregnancies all the way until last spring, but when I finally decided to make the effort to get rid of those pounds once and for all, I realized that I had a conviction I was lacking before - two beautiful little reasons to get the weight off and be healthy, yes, but also the knowledge that I'd done this before, so there was no reason I couldn't do it again.

Last night I finally bit the bullet and served straight up tofu to the kids without really disguising it (I put silken tofu in DS's smoothies, so he isn't totally opposed). I made my healthy fried rice, but didn't have a protein ready for it...but I had light firm organic tofu (that I bought for myself) in the fridge. I diced it and gave it a sautée before adding it to the rice. BOTH of the kids ate it without complaint and didn't pick around it! Success! A fully VEGAN meal for the three of us...and DH had salmon and broccoli, so vegetarian night for him. We stuck true to my commitment to Meatless Monday for a change! Now to work on making it a more "local" meal.;). That will be easier when the weather improves.

Ooh, I did a tofu stir-fry on Monday night! I drained, cubed, and patted down a package of extra-firm tofu, and then pre-sauteed it before doing the veggies, which seemed to keep the tofu texture more solid. I used baby bok choy, carrots, ginger, garlic, and snow peas and made a sauce with soy sauce, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce. It was really good, and DD8 ate the whole thing. DD6, our picky eater, proclaimed it decidedly "eh," but that beat a lot of her reactions to dinners at home. :/ I had leftovers for lunch yesterday, and the tofu stayed nice and firm. I would make it again, definitely.

Tomorrow, if we have a snow day, I'm making pancakes for the girls...and I have plans for a Cooking Light lasagna recipe for dinner. Om nom nom. :) Tomorrow is also a big baking day - I volunteered to make a bunch of stuff for the school/PTA carnival on Saturday - bake sale goodies and a cake for the cake walk. This weekend is so busy - I'm not sure what I was thinking! At least I can knock this part out tomorrow and then drop them off on Friday afternoon (have to commute on Thursday, so that day is shot for baking). If we have a full-on snow day, it'll be perfect for all that baking/packaging because I can enlist DDs to help!

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Hmmm...my best March ever? I love trying new recipes so I know I'll be trying at least one a week. Gotta love Pinterest :) I also recommitted last week to tracking my WW points, so I plan to continue that. And, I restarted my Jeff Galloway 5k app and hopefully will find a 5k to sign up for.

Sounds like you are off to a great start for March! :thumbsup2 Hope you are feeling better! :flower3:

Hey gang :)

Sorry I have been MIA ..... Really have been struggling this past month with my arm. Bone has healed well however I have excessive swelling to hand and fingers making it hard to regain movement. Wrist is swollen as well and I have minimal movement as well.....doc is at a loss as to what is going on. Spend 6-8 hours a week in therapy with some improvement in my fingers but that is about it. I just want to get back to being capable of taking care of my house, family and myself!!!!!!!

Jen, I'm so sorry that your arm is taking longer to heal than you would like. :hugs: I'm sure it is incredibly frustrating to have it take so long and not be able to do things for your family. pixiedust: that the healing speeds up! :flower3:

This made me :lmao: I feel the same way :) I have been going to zumba but once a week for a few weeks now and still totally lost but having tons of fun!

Having fun is what it's all about! ::yes::

Misty's football tummy is becoming a basketball. I think at some point she will simply explode kittens like popcorn! Lol.

Sounds like you will have some kittens at your house soon. And this will be the first time in a long time that the kittens will have another momma besides you to feed them. :cool2:

Happy Tuesday all!

QOTD for Tuesday, March 5, 2013:

Do you believe that changing your OUTSIDE will change your INSIDE? Physically? Mentally? In what ways? If not, why not?

If you are at or near your goal weight, do you feel that your weight loss has changed you?

I have learned that I feel the same no matter how much I weigh, how old I am, what my job is, etc. I think it important to live the life I want now and not wait for some event since you never know what could happen. :hippie:

I have now finished exactly 15 days of the 30 DS, so I am at the halfway point. At the moment I am a little bit frustrated with it as I seem to find the exercises harder and harder every day. But I also realise that this is due to the fact that I am doing them in better form, so I guess that's why they are more challenging. But I am glad that I have already half of level 2 behind me and can look forward to trying new things soon! I am not frustrated with the results I am seeing, so that is something else that keeps me motivated!

You are doing great keeping up with the Shred! :thumbsup2 It is a challenging workout and you are on the downhill slops now! :cool1:

Yes, yes and yes! ::yes:: Physically-is obvious in how my clothes fit; Mentally-I have so much more stamina than I used to and no longer fear taking on bigger physical challenges than I used to, i.e., longer distances, longer times, different activities, etc. :cool1:

That is a good point about having better stamina physically. :thumbsup2

I'm doing really well following my diet this week. I have not started exercising yet....but I'm taking it in baby steps.

Every step you take will get you closer to your goals! ::yes::

Hello! Busy couple of days - now I'm up late (argh, as usual) watching the snow come down and hoping like mad for a snow day tomorrow. I'm not a winter fan, and this last blast is not making me happy at all...the least it can do is give me a day off! Right? ;)

Hope you have a snow day today. It would be nice to have some rest! :goodvibes

Like many of us it seems to be a busy March here. I am reading and replying when I can. Keep up the good work all! :thumbsup2

PS Neener, neener poof fairy! :wave2:

Lisa, thanks for the encouragement! I really need it as I am starting to feel seriously exhausted and everything hurts. I finished 6 days of level 2 now and I remember that around this time in level 1 I was feeling horrible as well, and then it got better towards the end. So I just try to talk myself into staying motivated.

Also, I do have problems eating within my calories at the moment. I just am soooo hungry all the time. I think I need to try to get more protein, but that's not always easy.

Will treat myself today as I have an appointment to get my eye brows into shape. I hate doing that to myself and I am going to try out the "Benefit Brow Bar" at a cosmetics shop in town for the first time. It's rather pricey, but I decided that I needed to do something nice for me. Well, I don't expect the procedure to be nice, but I know that I will love the look afterwards!

Good morning all! Today's QOTD is pulled from the BL QOTD archive. Wish I could give credit, but here goes........

QOTD for Wednesday, March 6, 2013:

It's Woo Hoo :woohoo: Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did today to help you with your goals!!

Hi! I am a newer member of the DIS. I joined the February challenge (late) but wasn't a participant in the thread. I'm hoping to be more active this month, and going forward, as I could definitely use some inspiration & motivation! :)

I started trying to make healthier choices in January - I've given up soda (even diet! yikes!) and have started tracking my food choices on MyFitnessPal. Last month I got a FitBit One to help me track my steps, etc. I have a desk job and a 90 minute (each way) commute so am out of the house, sedentary, for about 13 hours per day. We have 2 little ones - DD1 and DS4 - so not much "free" time for working out. I've been making it a priority to walk during my work day and steal extra steps wherever I can to make my 10,000 step/day goal. So far, I make it there about 80% of the time and am hitting at least 7-8K every day :) I'm down 14.5 pounds since January. We are heading to WDW on 5/5/13 to surprise DS for his 5th birthday. My goal is to make it to 25 pounds and be PROUD to be in as many pictures as we can take. It may sound vain, but as the mom, I am the taker of most pictures and when it's time to take my picture, I'm usually feeling less-than-camera ready and shy away. I don't want my kids to look back and wonder why mom isn't in any pictures!

To motivate myself, I've already pre-purchased the PhotoPass+ CD for our trip! No matter what my progress is by departure date, I think the mindset change, that being healthy and happy and IN THE PICTURES is my priority, is a huge shift for the better. :)

Ugh I've not posted because I've been in a funk and just p!ssed at myself. I work hard last month and lost 4.5 lbs and after one weekend I was up 4. My father in law came over and brought a full BBQ spread. I chose the chicken and peeled of the skin but then I put a dab of potato salad on my plate. Omg it was sent from heaven (or maybe hell :) ). I went back for more and added the Mac and cheese. And then I spied the brown bag that was all soaked on the bottom - soaked w butter. The rolls! Had 1, 2, ok 3 :( They were small but still bad choice!!

Next day was a hockey game. I hadn't had "junk" food in a long time. I had my own order of nachos and a ton of popcorn. Then I ate the leftover BBQ. I just thought I might as well eat it all to get rid of it. Doh! It's ok to throw food away!!

I've eaten perfectly clean the last 2 days and working out like crazy. Just makes me mad that all this work I'm doing is to just get back to where I was and not losing. I need to work on the willpower.

Well it's hard to type hiking uphill on the treadmill.

Stay focused!!!

:welcome:

If it makes you feel any better, I've been fighting with my weight loss since last January!! It's taken me ALL this time to lose 17 pounds. I think I'm just the plateau queen!:furious:

I know what you mean about the pictures. The majority of mine are of either the DH or the dog. (Granted both are pretty darn cute :goodvibes). Every time I see myself in a shot, the look goes right to the thighs, followed by a very audible UGH!:crazy2: However, you have found an awesome group of peeps here who will keep you motivated and in good spirits!

Just wanted to say I'm still here, just busy. DD was drafted to play a mouse in Cinderella and we had one weeks notice from the date she was asked to curtain! I've been working like mad to get mouse ears done for all 4 girls, and they are soo cute!
DS12 starts bowling this week, DS16 starts track next week, DS11 is still playing Basketball 2 days a week. So so much driving to do.

If anyone has any great low fat, low sauce, low calorie recipes for the crock pot it would be much appreciated!!

Lisa, thanks for the encouragement! I really need it as I am starting to feel seriously exhausted and everything hurts. I finished 6 days of level 2 now and I remember that around this time in level 1 I was feeling horrible as well, and then it got better towards the end. Just keep moving! Even if you aren't doing all of the exercises exactly like JM, just moving along with them is great! And there is NO FAILURE in taking a short break!

Also, I do have problems eating within my calories at the moment. I just am soooo hungry all the time. I think I need to try to get more protein, but that's not always easy.

I will have to admit, I am hungry frequently myself.... but I have gotten used to it. I'm SURE that someone at WW would have something to say about this....that I am not eating the right calories or enough protein or something like that. But I believe that I eat really healthy and really well and definitely get enough protein most days (although I rarely use all of my FlexPoints) and YES, I am still hungry quite frequently. Baby carrots and green tea go a long way in keeping my belly from growling though.

I've never had my eyebrows down (looks painful!) but DD likes to have it done and she is overdue right now. I'll have to offer to make her an appointment when she has a free day. But good of you to take care of yourself!

I have learned that I feel the same no matter how much I weigh, how old I am, what my job is, etc. I think it important to live the life I want now and not wait for some event since you never know what could happen. :hippie:

Well said!!

Hope you have a snow day today. It would be nice to have some rest! :goodvibes

Like many of us it seems to be a busy March here. I am reading and replying when I can. Keep up the good work all! :thumbsup2

PS Neener, neener poof fairy! :wave2:

Who knew that MARCH would be so crazy??

Hello! Busy couple of days - now I'm up late (argh, as usual) watching the snow come down and hoping like mad for a snow day tomorrow. I'm not a winter fan, and this last blast is not making me happy at all...the least it can do is give me a day off! Right? ;)

Did you get your snow day???

This time last March, I was on my way to getting rid of the extra pounds I'd been carrying around since having DD6 (then DD5). I was starting to feel stronger and more confident, but that doesn't compare to how great it feels to be back in non-paying lifetime status at WW, maintaining at goal weight, and running my heart out. My plan to make this the best March ever is basically just to keep doing the stuff I've been doing! March is a weird month for me...not quite warm enough to get psyched for spring, but I love getting the later daylight back, and spring break is a welcome break in the routine. WOOHOO on being a "WW lifer"!! Where are you going with DH?? Somewhere warm and tropical??

I do think getting back to goal and maintaining that loss has changed me. Losing weight gave me the confidence to try something new (running) that I never in a million years thought I'd do, let alone enjoy. It took a while, though. The outside changes came well before any inside changes when I first made WW lifetime back in 2002. I was wearing smaller clothes, and people were noticing the changes, and I could see that I was thinner, but...somehow I still had the larger me inside second-guessing my successes and making me feel like it was all just temporary. DD and I were talking about it last night and she said even though she ate it, she didn't love it. She thinks that next time I should kind of scramble the tofu, rather than keep it in a diced state. I did the same as you.... drained and such, diced, and then sauteed in a nonstick pan before adding it to the nearly-finished fried rice.

Tomorrow, if we have a snow day, I'm making pancakes for the girls...and I have plans for a Cooking Light lasagna recipe for dinner.

Three OUTSTANDING things!!

Best of luck with the new plan. My Mom has foot issues and literally cannot LIVE without her orthotics. She puts her sneakers on with her pajamas first thing in the morning! It isn't always fun, but it has helped her maintain a decent activity level that she wouldn't have been able to without the orthotics.

Losing weight sort of brought back the predator (men) in me that I used to be and it threw me--but I'm at peace with it now. I thought I had her buried but she'll always be there I realize now. I really enjoy being strong and have a lot of physical ability I appreciate.
Having more energy is a reality by product of weight loss.
Weighed myself this morning and I'm down 3 pounds so far this week. I know this is is a lot of water weight due to finally starting my period but it nice anyway!

Having "parts" of us that we want to work on changing is hard.... and sometimes those parts are never full gone.... but just in remission of sorts. Everyone has things about their personalities that they would like to change... and that is often harder than changing the OUTSIDE appearance. Great job on burying a part that wasn't beneficial to your life and being PROUD of being a strong energetic person!!

Pam-- I really like my 2 new supplements--the L-arginine I take 500mg's twice daily and 2 of the cayenne pepper (600mg's) tabs at night--I think it helps counteract the metabolism effects of the prozac I take at night and the alcohol. I've really cut down on the drinking too and made an excellent batch of ceviche at work I've been eating for my night snack.

Glad you have cut back on the alcohol. Glad you found some natural help with the supplements!

I think I'll be happier an healthier once I drop the extra weight. I go through bouts of liking and hating my body, and I go through bouts of serious depression sometimes linked to my body image. -shrugs- I wanna be happier, and maybe this will work. Working out does make me feel good, even if I am awkward.

I am nowhere near my goal weight. 2 months in and I'm not even at 10 pounds yet. (Almost there though.). I'm hoping that by cutting out the soda (for the most part) I can get there.

Cutting out soda (regular and diet) will definitely help BIG TIME!!

Body image issues may continue, despite losing weight. That might be something you need to really think about and possibly seek help for. I have RARELY met a person who has lost significant weight who hasn't experienced some sort of body dysmorphic syndrome, to one degree or another. I have to work hard to counteract that voice in my head nearly daily that is trying to tell me that I have NO BUSINESS walking around the gym in yoga pants and a workout jersey because I just look plain GROSS with my BIG BELLY sticking out! But honestly.... I KNOW, deep in my head, that I look just fine in my workout gear (as long as I'm not trying to go to the mall in it ;) ) and my belly, while not perfect, is not really "big".... and that NO ONE is staring at me wondering why I am so fat!! And even if they were SO WHAT?????

It is so hard to let go of that former fat girl mentality! I strive to see myself as STRONG and HEALTHY rather than just "slim". It seems to help and makes me want to look STRONGER. In fact, there was a woman at the Y last night.... probably at least 55 or 60 years old, wearing formfitting black "LiveStrong" workout gear, pumping iron and looking TOTALLY B.A. !! I was SO impressed. I want to be HER!! Strong is the new sexy, right??

Stick with the weight loss AND the exercise, as exercise can help with depression issues as well.

Hello all! I had my leftover fried rice with tofu for breakfast and may I say it was YUMMY! I figured, why not?? It had protein (light organic tofu), healthy carbs (brown rice), and veggies (bok choy, red bell peppers, eggplant, celery, onion). It covered all of the bases, even if it wasn't originally intended for breakfast! And I have one breakfast point left over for a mid-morning fruit snack. Anyone else ever eat very "nontraditional" breakfast foods??

Sorry I didn't get to pop on last night. I was at the Y and their STUPID wifi was not working AGAIN! I am so disgusted with that facility. We regularly visit 3 different YMCAs. This is the biggest, newest, and fanciest.... and I like it the LEAST. It is very busy (especially since the new year started) and sometimes it is hard to get a machine. There is no dedicated spot for stretching after your workout, so I find I either skip it (I know I shouldn't) or I end up feeling really awkward and doing it where folks might want to walk, or I get asked to move while I'm doing it. So frustrating! And they don't enforce the rules on the track and it is really hard to run or walk fast when it is busy because folks don't stay in the appropriate lane or they walk like snails while they are talking on their phones, or they just plain STOP to chat!! :headache:

Okay.... rant over! :rotfl:

Yesterday was a GREAT day here! DD got a phone call from the swim coach at her top choice college (the one we visited last Sunday) and ..... BIG NEWS.... SHE GOT A :thumbsup2 for being on the swim team next year!! She is on the team!! He wants her to come for (another) campus visit and do an overnight with some of the girls on the team! :woohoo:

We also got an email from her current club coach inviting her to be on a relay team for the YMCA New Englands meet coming up. There was a paperwork glitch between her old team and her new team and the qualifying time she needed to attend this event (which is one of her FAVORITES) didn't come through, so she assumed she out of luck. This is ON TOP OF being invited to participate in a relay this upcoming weekend (at Harvard)at AGE GROUPS (another event with fast qualifying times). She is really going to be ending her Senior year with a BANG! Life is good for DD right now!

I PROMISED myself I would finish up my online training for my new job this week, so I need to dash for now! TTYL....................P

I had a very healthy, but nontraditional breakfast that will hopefully keep me full throughout the morning!

Hi! I am a newer member of the DIS. I joined the February challenge (late) but wasn't a participant in the thread. I'm hoping to be more active this month, and going forward, as I could definitely use some inspiration & motivation! :)

Glad to have you here and happy to have you participating more in March!!

Good for you!!!

To motivate myself, I've already pre-purchased the PhotoPass+ CD for our trip! No matter what my progress is by departure date, I think the mindset change, that being healthy and happy and IN THE PICTURES is my priority, is a huge shift for the better. :)

Love, love, LOVE Photopass!!!!!!!

First of all..... Sorry you have been struggling so much.

Second of all... great job getting back on track for two days (and counting) and getting moving again.

Third..... I have found, personally, that when I gain a big amount in a short time (like 5 pounds in 4 days at Disney :rolleyes1) that it also COMES OFF QUICKLY, once I get right back OP. So you may find that those 4 pounds are gone in a few weeks. Frustrating to be backpedaling, but not unforgiveable.

WOOHOO on the mouse part!! How absolutely adorable!! And of course, you and your kiddos are CRAZY busy! I can totally sympathize with the driving!

I'll double check for a few recipes, but as I recall you have a couple of really picky eaters. Wanna throw out some "absolutely not eating it" ingredient ideas, so I know where to work from???

Miss hearing from you more often, but I know you're busy.

ETA: Here is one recipe from the BL recipe thread for a whole chicken. With your big group it would probably be good, as it would feed plenty of folks.

And on that same page, post #35 has a good hamburg soup recipe and Lisa has a crockpot pork recipe in post #37 that I haven't tried, but it sounds yummy.

And here is page 5, post #75, with a link to one of my FAVORITE recipes that I got over on the Budget Board!

It took me a long time to realise that many of my skinny friends have body issues, too. I think it is just human - or maybe a sign of our society? Once I understood that even friends who I thought had beautiful bodies were unhappy with certain things - and that they were sincere about that not just trying to cheer me up or trying to put themselves down in order to get compliments, I found it much easier to accept my body as it. At least when I am within a healthy weight range. I figure that if my BMI is considered as not overweight I have no reason to be unhappy with myself. Of course I do see room for improvement, but I refuse to be emberassed about my looks. However, since I was a fat child and teenager it took me years after my first substantial weight loss in college to get to that point. And maybe I am also lucky that I can't look back at pictures of me when I was 16 and skinny. I am better looking now at 41 then I was back then.

Pamela, I also love your non-traditional breakfast! I know that in Asia people do eat rice for breakfast, so you could say you just had "Asian breakfast". I think I might have to consider looking for more non-traditional breakfasts myself, I still struggle with good breakfasts as so many traditional breakfast foods seem to have so many calories.

And congratulations to your DD for all her swimming success. I am happy that the year ends on a much better note than how it started!!

It's Woo Hoo :woohoo: Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did today to help you with your goals!!

Nothing like having a nice long response ready to go and your computer flips out on you. Ugh!

Anyways, for the last two days I've actually been eating oatmeal! :cool1: I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but I've always hated the texture of it and just couldn't bring myself to eat it. Since I didn't know what I was doing, my first attempt turned it into some watery, soupy-like substance. A fellow Disney Dork took pity on me and gave me some of hers and it was pretty yummy!:thumbsup2 She fed me some more today with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice and it was good stuff!::yes:: So I'm going to attempt to cook some steel cut oats this weekend (read they are the best quality) and throw in a cinnamon stick. I've never done this before so any advice will be appreciated! I did find I like it more on the thicker side...
