"I'M STUCK IN DISNEY!!!!!!!!" A Delightfully Unliveable TR ~ NEW TR 9/27!!!!!!!!!!!

The lions are AMAZING at Animal Kingdom! We'd never been on the safari before last Wednesday but there was the lion with THREE lionesses, all of which were having nothing to do with him. (More drama for your TRLOTAK?) He was roaring up a storm at us, too! So cool. Where are the vultures at? We didn't see any of those.

This update is reason 785678657854347576546 why Animal Kingdom is awesome. I would have DIED seeing a lion roar. I mean, I DIE when I see a lion anyways, but one ROARING?! omg. omg.

Woah, what an awesome safari! I absolutely think your version of events is what was going on there. I know you want to be a dancing zebra in Festival of the Lion King, but I really think that being a safari driving is your true calling.

"YEAH HE WAS ROARING. I FELL OVER AND DIED."

As many times as I have been on this Safari I have never seen the lion standing much less roaring! How cool is that.

BTW I am Loving your trip report and all of the 90s throwback references! :rotfl2:

Ahhh the photos of you guys and dug and Russell are the cutest!!!
That movie ruined me emotionally too... I made the mistake of watching it on a plane...on my own. Emotional mess!!

That guitar playing guy is great!

I would totally quit my life to be a dancing zebra. Would clearly be the best life choice.

I love that the pizza made you cringe. You really crack me up :rotfl:

Holy lions! You have THE BEST animal luck ever!
I can't believe you got to experience that whole drama! LUCKY!
I would watch Real Lionesses if it was a show. Love that drama!

Have you decided what to do for your birthday yet?

Oh wow yeah I would NOT be able to watch Up in public like that. People around me would probably assume I had just received word that a family member died.

I know! I loved him!

So would I!

hahaha our pizza is just so good here it does not even begin to compare. It's not even in the same universe as our pizza! You will have to have some when you visit NYC.

I really do have all the luck with the animals! I don't know why it always happens to me, but I am very thankful.

Well, Green Day is doing a show in NYC the night before my birthday, so I'll probably go to that even though the tickets are sold out and I'll have to get an overpriced ticket from StubHub. But I still don't know what to do ON my actual birthday! Le sigh.

Those are some awesome pics! The last time we went the male lion was just laying down like "yeah I know I'm a lion and obviously you want to look at me but get it over with and move along!"

Thank you! The last few times I've seen the lion he's been up and about but I know what you mean. For a long time I never saw them up.

Those are some of the best photos of the lions at AK I have ever seen! How great that you got to see them up and moving around so much, although it was obviously a domestic dispute about to erupt. :lmao:

Thank you! I felt so lucky to have witnessed such a thing!

WOW, four lions all together this time? That's crazy. I wonder if there have always been 4 and I just never saw them all together. I can't wait to see them again!

The vultures are at the beginning of the safari, but they are usually down by the waterhole, not standing in a line with their wings open ready to kill everyone.

This update is reason 785678657854347576546 why Animal Kingdom is awesome. I would have DIED seeing a lion roar. I mean, I DIE when I see a lion anyways, but one ROARING?! omg. omg.

Yes, AK is so underrated! You're right, seeing a lion in general sends me into a frenzy but witnessing a roar like that was just so surreal!

Woah, what an awesome safari! I absolutely think your version of events is what was going on there. I know you want to be a dancing zebra in Festival of the Lion King, but I really think that being a safari driving is your true calling.

hahaha I would never be able to do that job! I would get too excited over the animals and drive into a tree or something!

"YEAH HE WAS ROARING. I FELL OVER AND DIED."

As many times as I have been on this Safari I have never seen the lion standing much less roaring! How cool is that.

BTW I am Loving your trip report and all of the 90s throwback references! :rotfl2:

For years I didn't see the lion standing, so I'm sure one day you will!!

Thank you! I love when people understand my throwbacks!!

OCTOBER 23, 2012
Day 3, Part 5 In Which I'm Engulfed In An African Dance Party

Whew. Who's still reeling from that two-timing lion?

I know I am.

This is just one of the reasons I love Animal Kingdom so much. It is rare that Disney is so unpredictable. As great as Splash Mountain is, it's the same every time. And that's wonderful and comforting, but there's a level of excitement that Animal Kingdom possesses that the other parks don't.

The experience is different every single trip. You don't know how the animals are going to be feeling and acting. Yes, sometimes they're just laying around, but even that's great, and the possibility of them doing something like what we witnessed that day on the safari is just so exciting. Who knows we would see next!

8423388995_1551a2f75c_z.jpg

WARTHOGS! Timon wanted his photo taken with Pumbaa's cousins. Another handsome shot of HT!

Hey look, another Ostrich! They're just roamin' all over this savannah.

8423388757_e651843bc9_z.jpg

Way to not look at my camera. Ugh, you will never work in Hollywood.

Look again! It's the curly horned guy!

8423388477_f8a7162c61_z.jpg

I can't remember his name. As you can see, he has curly... well, really more WAVY horns. He didn't spray his horn BEFORE curling it with the curling iron. That's the secret to a tighter curl. Everyone knows that.

And that was our safari! I was so happy Lee-Anne got to experience a beyond exciting one!

When I told her about my pre-safari worries that there'd be less animal action, she said, "It's fine, I called Mufasa ahead of time." LOL.

I wanted to head down the Pangani Trail next, but first I had to use the restroom, so Lee-Anne waited near the safari exit while I walked over to the bathrooms in Harambe.

As I exited the bathroom, I saw that the band was playing again.

8424479536_efd4b26f42_z.jpg

They were REALLY rocking out.

Of course, there was another Disney dance party going on. As I said in a prior update, dance parties are a huge deal at Disney right now, or at least they were in October.

I mean, look at all these dancers! This was serious.

8423387705_13cb30d3d5_z.jpg

Because it's my life, I was instantly pulled into this dance party right after taking this picture:

8423387957_c57949487f_z.jpg

It was one of those things where you hardly even know what's going on and then suddenly you're in the thick of it. Like when you see a bunch of drunk, unruly idiots at a wedding and you scoff at them while enjoying your free food and ranking the groomsmen from most to least marriage material. Then, before you know it, you're doing the Electric Slide with the bride's 4th cousin and ordering another Jolly Rancher from the bar.

I'm sure you've all been there.

I just wanted to let go and enjoy the magical African street party, but Lee-Anne was just standing & waiting somewhere near the safari probably wondering if Jafar kidnapped me and made me wear a creepy red outfit with a high ponytail that is totally not as cool as my normal low ponytail with the two bumps in it. SO after shaking my thang a few times because, hey, I couldn't let my fans down... I excused myself and headed back to my friend!

Once I got back to Lee-Anne, I apologized for being gone long and explained the ridiculous situation. She laughed and told me that she saw one of Hanson's back-up guitarists walking out of the safari.

See? It's not just Hanson that stalks us, it's everyone involved with them! God!

With that, we were off to see my beloved gorillas on the Pangani Trail.

First we checked out all the little creatures in that random room they have in the middle of the trail, where I spotted my favorite flat tortoise!!!

8494966098_5aa4908cd8_z.jpg

And then we saw this pretty bird which was just sitting nicely. Very appreciated, little bird!

8494966226_6f4ba40176_z.jpg

Timon kept RUNNING ahead of us because he knew that more members of his family were up ahead! I didn't make him slow down because hey, it's Disney. LET EVERYONE RUN FREE!!!

8493867965_e6ed6749f3_z.jpg

OMG!!!!!!!!!! TIMON'S COUSIN Henry!

He was so excited! He kept pointing out all his family members to us.

Here's Timon with his Aunt Celeste!

8493867681_958fd98f78_z.jpg

Here's a little one peeking up to see what all the fuss is about!

8494966850_f0e2eb822b_z.jpg

Here we have Timon posing before leaping into the exhibit and playing with his family!

8493867845_11a35e5cb7_z.jpg

I decided to let him stay and hang with them for a bit while we went on to see the gorillas. Timon is not the biggest fan of animals that could eat him in one gulp anyway!

We made plans to meet up with him later and walked on to see the gorillas. These guys are always incredible to visit, but I hoped that they would be especially cool this time for Lee-Anne, like when I saw the mom with the new baby, and them climbing trees, making scary grumbly noises, etc!

What was in store for us I could never have imagined.

But first we came across this lady.

8493868225_e28d4f19fa_z.jpg

OUT COLD.

There wasn't much going on in that first section where you see them behind the glass, so we continued on to find KERCHAK!

8493868563_968ae29299_z.jpg

As I mentioned in my last TR, this guy looks exactly like Kerchak from Tarzan, which proves he is ACTUALLY alive and well.

8493868683_e03ae757c8_z.jpg

This one is my FAVE though. Cause he's super chubby and doesn't care and just keeps eating b/c he is an EFFING GORILLA IN DISNEY WORLD AND HE'S GONNA DO WHATEVER THE EFF HE WANTS AND YOU CAN GET THE EFF OUT OF HERE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, OKAY!?!?!

8494967550_58f6c844f6_z.jpg

One of the other gorillas started walking toward my chubby friend.

All seemed well. They were acting pretty mellow.

That was NOT the case a few minutes later.

My chubby friend and this other gorilla were obviously having some kind of problem between them. I am not sure what it was, but it was bad.

For the case of this story, I'm gonna call that other gorilla Navid. (Pronounced Nah-VEED) because it's a cool African name and I like cool African names.

So Navid comes walking over and is standing in the foreground, with my chubby friend in the back.

8494967718_a35f87c1cd_z.jpg

Hmm. Navid looks pensive. What will he do?

8493869011_4d67775881_z.jpg

HE JUMPED DOWN OFF THE HILL.

8494967938_06ab833aeb_z.jpg

HE WAS VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY CLOSE TO US. LIKE... I DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS SAFE BUT I TRUST YOU DISNEY.

8493869217_7797ab50a1_z.jpg

And if I get eaten by a gorilla in Disney, I mean, whatever. There are way less cool ways to die.

8493869407_5d93f42dac_z.jpg

I don't know what he was looking for down there. My THEORY is that my chubby friend maybe hid something down there, I'm thinking food, and Navid was all, "Dude, share the wealth." which my friend didn't like at all.

Did you ever seen on MTV's Fat Camp how they would hide all their illegal candy bars in a metal lock box under their beds? I think it was like that but instead it was with banana leaves and stuff, and my friend was hoarding them for himself, which really wasn't cool to do to Navid. Kerchak doesn't care because he's Kerchak.

8494968182_b1ca69e57e_z.jpg

Eventually he climbed back up and this happened.

8494970102_270c8530a6_z.jpg

I love it cause he's like GURL. That's honestly one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken in my life.

Up Next: Continued in the next post!

OCTOBER 23, 2012
Day 3, Part 6 In Which You Can Cut The Gorilla Tension With A Knife

The gorillas were doing this AMAZING sneaky fighting thing where they weren't even LOOKING at each other but one would grunt, and then the other would, and the other would loudly, back and forth and on and on and on. I'm sorry neither of us took any video of this... I think we were in a stunned, shocked silence because it was FASCINATING to watch.

8493871713_d58e586820_z.jpg

Gettin' real tired of your crap Navid

8494969968_eddebe7284_z.jpg

They both kept moving JUST A LITTLE BIT. It was kind of like when someone is about to hit you and they fake you out first.

8493871051_428a9ef0a5_z.jpg

Every once in awhile Navid would walk away and come back..

8494969366_02f40d506f_z.jpg

8493870761_794693f440_z.jpg

My friend acted like he didn't care but you could tell he really did.

8493870881_e9eb6ee4b2_z.jpg

It was just insane. There was SO MUCH TENSION, it was the same as when two humans are obviously not getting along around you and you can just feel it about to come to a head.

They kept grunting, and slowly making movements, and it was building and building, and you could just tell something was gonna happen... and then it did.

At one point after walking away, Navid CHARGED back at my chubby friend, pounding his chest and GROWLING the way that they do in movies. Literally.

Everyone watching GASPED. It was so scary because he was just SO close to all of us and it was silent and then all of a sudden he was running and pounding and making a RRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGRRROOOOOOAAAAARRRRRR sound.

It was shocking, even moreso than when I saw the female pound her chest on my 2011 trip.

Hell hath no fury like a gorilla who finds out another gorilla has been hoarding food.

Maybe.

I don't know. I wish I knew what the real problem between them was. But whatever happened, it was UNBELIEVABLE to watch.

I just had one of those "I am so lucky I get to come here, this place is THE BEST" Disney moments. It was just out of this world.

What was the other female doing during this mess? Same thing women always do when men are carrying on like babies.

Chillin'.

8493870399_8fc0b064d5_z.jpg

And looking at them like "Boys, please. *EYEROLL*"

Gorillas, man.

CRAZY.

I was so happy because yet again I wanted a spectacular animal experience for Lee-Anne and it happened! I could only hope the same thing would happen with the tigers.

Look who we found!

8494967126_1e1a3767b3_z.jpg

HT had a great time with his family and was ready to jump back into my backpack and explore more of the kingdom!!

MONKEYS!!

8494970636_6fed56a3b8_z.jpg

I was excited to see them since on my previous trip they were doing refurb, so the monkeys went on vacation. They are so cute!

8494970766_ddbbbdafe7_z.jpg

Hula Timon and I really wanted a Zebra/Safari/Zebra cupcake. I think I should call it the Safebra cupcake from now on just to keep up with Disney's changing of the name.

It was perfect timing cause we were all getting a bit tired. So we sat down on a bench and enjoyed this delicious treat!!

8493872017_2bb3ae52b0_z.jpg

Unfortunately... they changed the cupcake again! This time not the name, but the chocolate! They only put four pieces on top of it (in 2011 there were a ton!) and they were a lot thinner. I also think they changed the recipe slightly because the whole thing didn't taste AS good. Sigh.

It has now been downgraded from "MUST GET IT EVERY TIME I'M IN DISNEY" to "I'll get it if I'm in the mood." Still a great cupcake though!

After our little break, we made our way back through Africa... where of course ANOTHER dance party was going on!

8494970968_dabc537bdf_z.jpg

Please check out that rockin' couple with matching lanyards, buttons, and Crocs. Now if that isn't a match made in Heaven, nothing is.

8493872235_9a73b6abb4_z.jpg

I love taking closeups of the amazing carvings in the Tree!

8493872389_d644343de7_z.jpg

This next one is awesome because not only are a lot of little animals carved in, there's a large elephant face!

8493872517_e8d5be4bf1_z.jpg

AHH I LOVE IT.

8494971546_18ab438393_z.jpg

Once we got to Asia, we stumbled on *another* dance party. Like. This is an epidemic, people.

8494971814_6a74bd28c7_z.jpg

@babybritney: CRACKING UP bc there is literally a dance party going on in front of Yak + Yeti, complete with a DJ with his laptop open in front of him.

8493872759_4c25d6dcda_z.jpg

That DJ was like really GETTING DOWN. He loves his life, you can tell.

Even though I knew Lee-Anne would never ride Everest, I wanted to take her over there because it's just such an elaborately decorated piece of brilliance! Any other place would have just built some rides, but Disney created the village of Anandapur!

8494972048_101ae0f2ab_z.jpg

This is one of my FAVORITE pictures of Lee-Anne! She looks so pretty and happy and her dress matches the clouds and snow on the mountain so well!

8494972168_99b8cfefd1_z.jpg

8493873387_84e47f918a_z.jpg

When we were near the mountain, I said, "There aren't any other attractions back here, I just wanted you to see it, because..." and she was like "Because it looks like this? Yeah." She got it. I was so happy she loved it! It's great to go with someone who isn't like HEY NEXT ATTRACTION NOW LET'S GO and can appreciate all the beautiful details.

UP NEXT: One more awesome animal experience to end our day at AK, and then it's time for more HANSON!!!! and FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am all caught up again! YAY! I hate getting behind, it makes me feel really sad.

Oh em gee though. Your safari was incredible!! It reminded me of the best one we ever saw; one of the female lions actually CHASED/FOLLOWED our vehicle as we went past it. I think she might have been hungry and thought one of the children looked tasty. It was equally fascinating and terrifying knowing what would happen if they were in their own enclosure.

That photo of the lion roaring though? AMAZING!

That whole gorilla scene both cracked me up and was also fascinating! They are amazing creatures, seriously.

That photo of LeeAnn is wonderful!

I love when people GET Disney and understand the amazingness of the details that surround you. Your day at AK seemed absolutely fabulous!

Hahaha the gorilla tension sounds pretty dramatic! And I love how the women gorillas were just ignoring them :rotfl:.

Too bad about the cupcake disappointment! I hate when a food item you dream about changes!

I am I am! That naughty lion!!

Awh Timon and Pumbaa reunited!!!...(and it feels so good!)

Ostriches always take me straight to that scene in Dude Wheres My Car too!

Ahhh so that's how they get curly horns, the mystery is solved!

STREET PARTY TODAY!! I need that sign in my street...today....

I hate when Jafar does that, he loves that red outfit with the high pony wayyy to much.:confused3

AHHHHH MEERKATS!!!!!!
Seriously they are perfect in every single way! Awwwhhh he looks like a Henry!!!

Gahhh I hate when Disney mess with an already perfect food!

Ah that croc/lanyard couple are adorable!! I love them so much!
And they are wearing crocs with socks! So cute!!

Wow dance party galore! This must be some sort of record!

How could that DJ NOT love his life?? Look at where he is and what he is doing! I mean I love his life!!

That is a gorgeous picture of Lee Anne! That spot is so flippn gorgeous!!

Have I mentioned you make me want to get twitter just so I can get your witty tweets regulary, well it's true!

I absolutely love your trip reports! Hula Tiimon is the best. I wish I could do that with one of my disney stuffed animals but it might.look a bit strange seeing as I'll b solo lol. Looking forward to reading the next instalment.

Ahhh I'm joining in and all caught up. I can't believe all of the shenanigans that have already occurred. Can't wait to read more!

Hi Lia!:wave2:

Until Disney recognizes your awesomeness and you become a princess, pleeeeease consider narrating the safari and the jungle cruise for that matter. :mic: I don't even want to go on another safari or jungle cruise unless you are narrating. O.K., that's not entirely true, I'm going anyway. :lmao: But you've raised the bar - now I want the ultimate safari/cruise experience. If you can't do it while you're being all princessy around the World, just forward the CMs a script. Guaranteed - a slammin ride every time!::yes::

Lee-Anne's photo is beautiful and it's so nice that she really gets it when you point out all of the amazing details the imagineers surround us with!

So glad HT got to see the cousins. Family first!:grouphug:

Thanks for the fantastic updates.:cool1:

Oh AK. You are so right. The park is SO underrated cause you know, YOU GET TO GO ON AN AFRICAN SAFARI AND THAT IS SO NOT AMAZING.

Disney dance parties>>>>all other dance parties

THE MEERKATS. They are so awesome. But not as awesome as Hula Timon! DUH!

Seriously, the BEST things happen to you with animals at AK. When I visit Navid and your chubby friend, they just sleep. That’s it. Not fun. But I mean, they are really cute, so I guess that makes up for it.

Now THIS is why I love AK. Disney just transports you to Anandapur and I JUST LOVE THEM BECAUSE OF THAT GAHHH. AND DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS. MY FAVORITE.

Yay!

WOW THAT IS THE COOLEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD. Omg.

They really are. I always heard that out of all animals their behavior is closest to humans, and I can definitely see that now after spending so much time with them!

Me too! I would have been disappointed if she was just like, "Woo! Disney is fun!" instead of "EVERY LITTLE DETAIL OF THIS PLACE IS PERFECT AND I'M GOING TO DIE." haha

Hahaha the gorilla tension sounds pretty dramatic! And I love how the women gorillas were just ignoring them :rotfl:.

Too bad about the cupcake disappointment! I hate when a food item you dream about changes!

I love it too. As women we know that sometimes they just have to be ignored.

ME TOO!!! Oh well. It's not like there aren't 39803298 other things I need to eat again/try for the first time!

I am I am! That naughty lion!!

Glad I'm not the only one!

I'm glad I could shed some light on The Mystery of the Curly Horns! (That would have been a great Nancy Drew book. Missed opportunity.)

Yeah Jafar is gross. A LITTLE TOO UNCOMFORTABLE FOR A KID'S MOVIE I GOTTA SAY. Perv.

I LOVE THAT COUPLE. I WANT TO BE THEM.

I really do not know what was going on with the dance parties. I mean, as if there isn't enough to do in Disney. LOL.

I love his life too!

Thank you!!! It's like my favorite photo of her. When she saw it she said, "It looks like I'm in Tibet or something!" haha

Well I want you to get Twitter so I can read YOUR tweets, which I'm sure would be hilarious and also interesting b/c of your exciting life!! I hope The Wedding Singer is going well for you!

I absolutely love your trip reports! Hula Tiimon is the best. I wish I could do that with one of my disney stuffed animals but it might.look a bit strange seeing as I'll b solo lol. Looking forward to reading the next instalment.

Thank you so much!

Who cares if it looks strange? Life is too short to NOT carry stuffed animals around as an adult. :lmao: I say go for it! :yay:

Ahhh I'm joining in and all caught up. I can't believe all of the shenanigans that have already occurred. Can't wait to read more!

Yay, thanks for catching up & being here with us! I could hardly believe it myself. haha. But this thing isn't even close to being half over, so there is SO much more to come!

Hi! Omg I would love both of those jobs. Though like I said before, I would probably get too excited about the animals and accidentally crash the vehicle. Thank you so much for your compliments though, you're so sweet!

I agree :) It makes me so happy that she appreciates the details! I figured she would, but you never know!

Thanks for reading!!

Oh AK. You are so right. The park is SO underrated cause you know, YOU GET TO GO ON AN AFRICAN SAFARI AND THAT IS SO NOT AMAZING.

AHH I KNOW. Someone I follow on Twitter said AK sucked the other day and I was just like *blinks*. I mean, I don't know how anybody could think that.

Agreed!

Yes, Hula Timon is the BEST! I'll tell him you said so. He'll love that!

Aww, really? I've never seen them sleeping except that one female in the update! That's unfortunate. Don't give up though, keep visiting them! I'm sure you'll see some drama one of these days.

Details are my favorite as well! <3

The safebra cupcake, hahah!

Crocs and socks?! That couple has staying power!

I'm with Lee-Anne and Everest. I rode it with my goddaughter over and over and over again and I couldn't stomach much of it after... Maybe since it'll be 1 and 1/2 years in between, I'll be ok?

Love your AK updates!

Great updates!! Loved the lion and gorilla interaction. I laughed out loud at your comment about Jafar and the not-as-cool high ponytail!! Epic!

Thank you so much!

Who cares if it looks strange? Life is too short to NOT carry stuffed animals around as an adult. :lmao: I say go for it! :yay:

No problem! Ok then, I think I will. It could also be an excuse (not that I need one really) to get another Disney stuffed animal :scratchin

I just know they're gonna steal my idea and that will be the new name.

AGREED! I refuse to marry anyone who won't match my crocs in Disney!!!

AHH but at least you tried it! I think she would love all thrill rides if she tried them. Sigh.

Thank you!

WHAT?!?!?!?! :sad2: :furious:

I know. It's disturbing. If you don't like Animal Kingdom, you're completely missing it. It's very sad!
