Hey, Joanne! It's Amy Albers!

Hey girl! I know you!

You know I've got it bad when it's a year out and I'm already planning the next one!

I did the PHM last weekend....and have been suffering withdrawals ever since. In Jan I fell and broke my left thumb and actually did the race in a brace. When I fell I 'pulled' something in my right shoulder. Well after the race, the only part of me that was sore was my shoulder. Went to the doc this week and they did MRI. Looks to be a torn rotator cuff and I have been referred to ortho doc. I am signed up for a 5 K in APril and a 10 K in May. I really do not want to be in Corral H again.

Question is.....any one ever have this type of injury and how will it affect my training?

And....who would have ever thought bowling was dangerous? :rotfl::rotfl:

Does that include hotel?

Oh no... The 280.00 is entry fee and a one day park ticket...hotel is definitely more than WDW and no military or airline discount so impressive per night !

No real hills! Fl overpasses at end of race. I haaattteeee hills and find princess to be totally ok

Tx heat/ ugh. Yes. Doing dumbo and the training a going to suck. See a lot of tm in my future.

Crowds- before the half it's busy. After- its lovely. Mon and Tuesday were great for me in the parks!

Get travel had half and 10k race entries but no dumbo dare. My 10 yr old is going to do the 10k now!

Will I see you at the 1/2 at DL? :)

I'll be there! We are doing DDD! :thumbsup2:cool1::scared:

Distance: I use the MapMyRun app on my iPhone (Verizon) and it tracks my distances very accurately. In 2012 I ran over 14 miles for the PHM (I also spent all of Epcot wondering "Where the $%#& is the end?!?" that year) due to starting back in corral D and doing a lot of weaving, since we were running at a B-to-A pace. This year I only ran about 13.5 but we started in A and I made a concerted effort not to weave, especially at the beginning. (I gained over half a mile during the first 5K.)

Crowds: The whole week after Presidents' Day will be crowded, with the holiday on one end and PHM on the other, plus that week is always school vacation week up here in the Northeast. You are better off before Presidents' Day or the week after PHM. Last year the crowds dropped noticeably on Mon and Tues post-race. (This year we weren't fortunate enough to stay past race-day.)

Anyone else have an experience with deferrals for runDisney races? I'm still wondering about how a team registration would be affected if one team member need a medical deferral. (I would hope the whole team could defer...) Anyone have just one member of their group need a deferral but try to get the whole group deferred? TIA!

PS: Yay for all the DDD'ers! C2C here we come!

:rotfl2: All my pictures taken of me in Epcot I look so angry. I was having that same thought!!!

I'm in for 2014. I'm on the every other year plan. I ran 2012 with 2 of my other BRF(best running friend). I temporarily had a lapse in running judgement and was planning to do the Full in January! Decided, I do not want to train for a Full. So, I shall be back for the Princess!!!

I am sooo not worthy...you are rocking to do DDD !:worship:

How do you do your long runs in the august heat here in TX...I'm thinking it will be early morning or TM ? This is the first time we will have to really suffer in August to train for a Sep Half.

Yeaaahhhhh. About that. I usually avoid running in August over 2 miles. Lol. So this will be new territory. I have a treadmill and do train long on it when I need to so I imagine it will be more tm than normal.

And early sat mornings I'll get the outside runs in.

Not in Texas, but in a year-round 90 degrees and humid climate and I've finally accepted the idea that it just isn't safe to train outside in heat like this. Two-three miles, fine. Anything longer and it just gets too messy. I do almost all my runs on the treadmill but will plan some of the weekend long ones outside. I'm 1/3 of the way through training for my June HM :)

I have noticed an increase in treadmill running coincides with a new knee pain :/ I haven't decided what to do about it yet. I only really noticed this week.

My treadmill is usually results on me staying slower than I normally run outside. Just too easy to stay comfortable on tm for me. So I have to mix up with some hard intervals.

But yeah- so hot even at 5am here.

Just did my first 1/2 at this years Princess 1/2 Marathon...so much fun! Did the 5K with the kids the day before also.

I can't wait for 2014 Princess weekend....going to try to do a mom's only w/e;)

Oh, I see . Guess I will stash my cash for Cali trip next year.,

Count me in. I was undecided as to whether I would run again next year. I ran 2013 sick so I'm sure that colored my opinions some post race. Now that I've thought on it I want to try it healthy and have a good time. My goal for the next year is to get my times down to qualify for B. just talked DD into running with me again. Yea!

I'm (hopefully) in! I literally just started running today. I've been walking 2-3 miles, 3x a week for the past month in preparation. The PHM is what is motivating me to do this, so here I go! Right now I'm doing my own modified run/walk method, 30 sec. run, 1 min walk. Today I did that for 30 mins. with a 5 minute warm up and cool down. Any advice or encouragement is greatly appreciated!

I am in for Princess again next year. PHM this year was my first half and it was SO MUCH FUN. Grant it, if you had asked me the next day, I would have cursed it.

I'm trying to do every runDisney race for the end of this year (Already registered for Disneyland 1/2 and ToT, will register for Wine and Dine on the 12th) and Tink/PHM next year. I wanted to do the WDW 1/2 but I'd rather get the Tink medal.

You can do this! I couldn't run a quarter mile this time last year. I ran almost the entire phm... Minimal stops am only walked the last couple hills. I think 3 times a week and being committed to that will get you there! I did a c2-5k program- then c2-10k(skipped over the c2-5k part). After that I when to a 21k program (that one assumes a 10k starting point). It was slow progress over a year- but it happened!

You will be ready for 2014!

Just an FYI to all PHM 2013 finishers, the finisher certificates are ready to be printed! :)
