So NOW My Direct Points Waitlist Comes Through!

So...as some of you know..after waiting nearly a year for a direct add on at VGC, I caved and put in a bid for a resale...I haven't heard back from ROFR yet, but at my price point (108), pretty sure it will go through. So TODAY my guide calls and YES I have my direct points finally. So...what to do? Have a boatload of points I guess :) Direct add on, 65, resale 125..currently own, 225, so almost doubling my membership in one fell swoop..holy cow..415 points??!

I'm worrying about the same thing.

After an unsuccessful search for a smaller HHI contract that matches my current UY (I already own 420 points there and wanted everything the same) I went on the direct waitlist.

Of course, my distaste for paying full price made me look at what I could get with the same outlay of cash on the resale market.

Offered (and was excepted) $41 PP on a larger contract that I'd considered and now I'm in ROFR.

I keep *waiting* to hear my WL has cleared. But, I'll have to cancel if it does.

What I really think will happen is Disney will ROFR my $41 offer and then offer me the points at twice the cost... when my WL finally comes through.

OMG!! It took a whole year for your wait list to come through? That's a crazy amount of time!

Based on price, you should pass. BUT given the obvious dearth of points for you UY you never know if Disney will be desperate enough to pick up your resale to move some others off the wait list.

We just added on at VGC via resale and we now have 325 points there plus another 230 at OKW from forever ago. With the points charts being so high at VGC if you can afford the MF, I'd say take the direct points and if the resale goes through you could always rent out whatever you can't use.

I'm the the previous poster, I'd take the direct points now and enjoy the extra ones if the resale goes through. After watching the webcast this morning I'm having a hard time resisting doing a add-on at Aulani instead of waiting for our VGC waitlist to come through.

Depends on where you will use the points more often. We had bought Aulani a couple of years ago, then realized we go to DLR all the time, so we sold Aulani (actually back to Disney and made a profit! - long story) and have bought a couple of add ons at VGC. We figured we MIGHT go to Aulani once or twice, but we go that often each year to DLR and wanted the luxury of a 1 bedroom more often - hence the add ons there made more sense for us than at Aulani.

I'm kicking myself for not buying Aulani early on to have the subsidized dues. We've already been to Aulani twice, Jan and Dec 2012 and are planning a June 2014 trip which is why I'm thinking about a 100 point add-on. I already have 280 VGC points for our usage there plus 100 AKV for WDW and I'm not picky where we stay at WDW.

I corrected the price I'm paying for the resale..it is 108 and I had typed 103 (wishful thinking?) We'll keep all the points..if needed, as mentioned, we can rent some, but for now we can afford to buy all with cash and can also afford MF..with small points cost at older resorts (one thing about being a VGC person is being used to those HIGH per night points) we can easily do a couple weeks at WDW and a couple weeks at Vero Beach yearly IF we ever get to retire and have the time. It's just so predictable that as soon as I go resale my direct waitlist come in :)

:cool1: Yay for getting all the VGC points! :cheer2:

Never enough points!

We had the subsidized points, but when we learned how it was going to work going forward, we sold the contract back to Disney. It didn't seem like that great a deal after a few years of MF increases.

I was on the wait list since July 2012 and I got the call today. Did you have a March use year? I added 50 points. I wish I could add more but I am leaving for WDW and DCL cruise in three weeks and too much expenses coming up. Congrats on getting your VGC points!!!

I think it's curious both you and Nunzia got your points right after the March UY started. Makes me wonder if Disney had some March VGC contract w/o any 2012 points, and once the calendar flipped to 2013 they could sell them to you.

Anyway, congrats for being so patient!

Congrats to both Disney 24/7 and Nunzia on the VGC points!

Breyean, you do make a good point, it is interesting on the timing.
