Need some advice.

We are finally entering the modern communications era and getting I-Phones. The problem is the current provider T-mobile will support it but I have to pay full pop for the phone. Choices are ATT, Verizon or Sprint. I hardly ever use mine, she is on it some but mostly is a texting fiend. Data would be probably be average usage. But I could see myself using it a lot more with a phone that could actually do data.

Which one do you guys use and would suggest?

We use Verizon because the coverage is better. It certainly isn't cheap. I have been to Disney with Verizon and ATT. Most recently Verizon. I found Verizon to be more reliable and faster. Not sure if that would be the same in Miami and ATT may have upgraded the system since.

I only have the 4S, which is a 3G phone. I can't answer the 4G data download question.

Of course, if your still dialing on a rotary phone anything could be an improvement.:thumbsup2

What is a raise? :confused3

A raise is when they pay you more money to do the same job your doing now without any additional expectations. I'm not sure they still give those out.:confused3 I know every time I get a little more money in my check they add at least 10 more things for me to do.:headache: Of course my review date was 2/11 so maybe they decided not to add more responsibilities this year.:lmao::lmao:

CT Sandy Hook Runners- Hope your training is going well... less than 20 days!!! I guess I need to get a little training under my belt. I hope to get back to the gym this week. I've been cleared by my doctor to start light training.

I've been training by running every saturday morning with a splitting headache and nausea. That count??? :confused3 Trying to replicate the race after a disdads night out as much as possible... :thumbsup2

I'd go with Verizon. Better coverage overall, and their spectrum is being updated to 4G and LTE all over the country much quicker than ATT/Sprint. The inability to talk and surf the web at the same time has never bugged me, but I'm not as big of a multitask-er as my nemesis I guess. ;)

Thanks guys on the advice on phone service providers. Have a game plan now.

I'll probably see the Star Wars live action TV series first.

They never add money to my check they just add responsibilities every couple months. Are you sure they are supposed to add money? :scratchin i think you are confused. :confused3

What's a pension?

Something that makes up for the lack of salary or these things called "raises" other people talk about.

Yeah, my pension/ retirement is all I got left at this point.

They just give me additional duties without additional money. I stop doing the first duties they gave me. That'll show 'em.

We have AT&T because they are the largest provider here in KY. I can't stand dealing with them though.

I think all airports should be required to put a DQ at the airports to entertain delayed passengers.:rolleyes1

Hey Norm.....A new business idea!

I'm in. You get it set-up and I'll accept royalties for your idea.

Well then,,,

Hey Chris!

Happy Birthday Chris.

Now to accelerate all of our plans by 6 hours, including cutting into my beauty sleep for the 3am wake up call to make the drive to the airport.

You should plan on getting way more sleep there, Beauty.

Please tell me the light at the end of this tunnel is not an oncoming train!!:headache:

Do not go into the light.

Remember that promotion I interviewed for? I got rejected this morning. So I have no such information to disprove your claim. :(

Sorry to hear it.

Howdy fellow dads, hope all is well, been away from the DIS for a few months (prob missed 20 threads lol) everything is good here, hope everything is good with all dads. Just got back from our crazy weekend WDW trip, it was great, and thank you to all the guys for your suggestions, esp on dining o'hana dinner was amazing. I honestly didn't take alot of pictures so my trip report will be alittle bland so it won't hurt my feelings if no one reads it. I also planned on taking a break from planning our Oct DL trip but as luck has it southwest opened up the flight dates this morning so hotel and air are now booked. Also welcome to all new Disdads that I missed while away and prayers for those family's who need them.

Glad you had a great trip. Sorry to hear they didn't do the coconut roll at Ohana, but the food is still good.

You really don't want to get 3 full trips behind on TR writing, do you??? :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

We might have to start calling you Don.

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I've been off the radar for a week or so... Been painting and installing new tile in my basement. I have another few hours of painting today and I should be done. We have new carpet coming in a few weeks. We need to make room for our new addition coming in about 2 months. We are turning our dining room into the baby's room, our living room into the dining room, and downstairs will be the new living room. We were thinking about doing some remodeling, but the quotes we got were way out of our budget right now. Basically 80-90K to add a dining room off our family room, expand our kitchen by 8x12, add central air, and put hardwood in the baby's room. I guess we will live with our new configuration for now.
.

Sounds like you've been busy. I think that is the amount left we have to pay off our mortgage. I might have a heart attack if DW said she was pregnant.

Morning guys!

DD's keep reminding us that we have a month until another epic Disdads meet in Louisville :cool1:

Did you all ever decide on what you wanted to do Saturday? Or, were you talking about a different epic meet?

Thought about Lasik and have been told I'm a good candidate. I know the risks are low, but just can't seem to risk it. I know 3 people that have had it done and the swear it is easy and no side effects. Good luck if you decide to go forward..

DW said that her doctor told her she was a good candidate, but she is still afraid to do it.

I could take one or two for breakfast. The family hasn't driven me nuts yet, but I was taking with a colleague at another farm and he was telling me how he dug 2 chainsaws and a $60 tractor seat out of the dumpster this morning. They have money to waste like that and I lost 80% of my labor help in the last year. :furious:

It is nice to have funding. Our administration still sends out weekly emails reminders of the pending layoffs to give raises. Motivation Monday - you're soon to be fired so that the Dean can wipe his butt with your paycheck.

Not much to report. Still running and looking forward to the 5k this month. I've picked out a 10k in May to run in as well. !

Excellent work. Keep up the training. I drank two beers tonight to keep up.

Proud DIS Dad moment for me today...

Got home from Church and was making my girls brunch
Youngest say no to brunch and want PB&J. Cool.
I wanted eggs and asked my other daughter if she wants them.
My oldest opted for an omelette.
So I asked, "Bacon or sausage?" Her response, "Can I have both?"
Such a little carnivore.

Very proud moment. :thumbsup2

Some of you already know but tonight my son was tested and received his pre Black Belt in karate, by The Grand Master himself, usually a instructor or Master does it, so having A Grand Master do it is quite a honor:thumbsup2

Bummer, dude. But keep your head up and continue to work hard. I've been there and have gone through the range of emotions.

Verizon. I have had them forever. I've also had various other carriers through work. VZ has great coverage. I'm also a fan of the shared data plan. Works well for my wife and me.

No Disney reservations yet (I can book our resort on next Tuesday) but bought our airfare today.
Southwest\AirTran.
Leave Pittsburgh at 8:45 AM ET and arrive at 11:05 AM ET on 10\12\2013 and leave the following Saturday 4:55 PM ET and get home 7:05 PM ET
I was totally caught off guard. I was responding to a friend's email re: their Disney trip and she said...and Southwest has their fares out for October."
I stopped reading right there, stiff armed a small child and knocked down an old lady to get back to my desk so I could call my wife and confirm the times and book.

Congrats. We might be there at the same time. DW and I are still trying to decide if we should push our trip back a week.

Thanks Norm, DD was kindof in a "pout because we are leaving Disney" mood so she prob would not of participated anyways, the food was amazing, I almost had to roll myself on the Monorail, best food we had all weekend, and it beat all the food from the last trip too. Besides the DVC discount I was happy that I was able to buy the DVC 4 resort pin set with SSR, BLT, AKV and OKW, the first one I got, I'm glad I looked before we left but it had 2 BLT ones and no SSR so I exchanged it. And thank you again for the heads up on TOTWL, We all loved it and DD was so proud that she spotted the hidden Mickey on the 16th floor on the ceiling

This is where I guess I would say Tim had a good idea, but Bambi called me before I read Tim's post, so the credit for the good idea goes to Bambi. Better luck next time, buddy. :thumbsup2

Anyway, the Winter Storm Warning starts tomorrow morning at 6am. I called Southwest and got on an earlier flight, leaving at 6:15. It's a connecting flight in Kansas City instead of a direct flight, but if we can get out of Wisconsin before the storm hits I can deal with that.

Now to accelerate all of our plans by 6 hours, including cutting into my beauty sleep for the 3am wake up call to make the drive to the airport.

Sorry to hear that your sleep will be cut short, but better to be out ahead of the storm! Besides, sleep is overrated. At least that is what I think I heard. I was too busy napping to really pay attention though.

I have verizon. Love the service, but hate that I feel like I've been mugged every month when they take my money.

first off I'd talk to some people near you to figure out what carrier they have and whether or not it sucks. I've travelled for work using both ATT and Verizon phones and in general Verizon has had better coverage. That being said with an AT&T iphone you can talk and surf the web or check your email at the same time. You can't with Verizon. That's a pretty big handicap in my book. I have an AT&T phone now, but I'd look to see who's got the best coverage around your house and where the pirate princess roams before I made a decision.

I have verizon and I was just surfing the web while on a phone call. Is that only with the Iphone?? I have a droid OS.

What is a raise? :confused3

not sure. I was told I had one recently, but still haven't actually seen it.

Excellent work. Keep up the training. I drank two beers tonight to keep up.

Good to see I'm not the only one working hard!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Congrats on booking the airfare! Always good to get that out of the way. I especially like that you booked a flight home. We didn't do that last time. :rotfl2:
