Can you use DDP and TIW together?

We are DVC and just purchased the Premium annual passes offered through DVC. We are going on a large extended family trip in June - with 10 family members. We decided as a group to do the dining plan for ease of not having to split up bills and making sure everything is covered. The family we are traveling would like to have everything paid in advance. We are fine with this plan.

We have been many times but the other family members coming with us this is more of a less frequent trip. We will have 5 kids under 6 and will be doing a lot of character meals.

We are staying offsite for one week and at BLT for one week. My family of 4 will probably return 1-2 times within a year since we have AP's this year.

We are considering purchasing a TIW card since we would not do the DDP on future trips. We would use the card for any meals at Disney prior to our arrival at BLT.

Can we use the TIW card at the same meal as the DDP to cover things not on the plan - ie appitizers, adult beverages?

Just curious if this is possible.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can use TIW and DDP. The TIW discount can be applied to all the extras you purchase including appetizers & adult beverages. One cautionary note...when you use the TIW card, the tip will automatically be added (18% gratuity is charged on bill whenever you use TIW) so do make sure you're not double-paying a tip (unless of course you mean to double-tip,:thumbsup2)

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that our tip will probably be added anyway regardless because we will be a large party at most meals.

I will be sure to watch out for the tip so we dont double tip (surely service wont be that good that we need to :) )

One more question - does it matter whose name the TWI card is in? My husband and I will both have AP's - can it be in both of our names or just one? Just curious because the boys are going to have a meal on day on their own and would he not be able to use it if is in my name?

you only get one card per AP (with one name on it. So if you use your AP to get a TIW, the TIW card will have your name on it.) ...if you want a 2nd card, you pay extra for that. The person named on the TIW must be the one paying the bill, so your sons or husband will not be allowed to use your TIW card to get a discount.

Thank you - that is what I was thinking. I appreciate you confirming it for me. :)
