Do you have a Decorative Theme in your KITCHEN?

I need ideas for a new Kitchen theme.

I just took everything down from the walls and above the cabinets, prepping for a big painting project. then a chairail, possibly some wainscott.

I had a theme of APPLES everywhere. Lots of collecting the last 15 yrs or so.
I'm keeping the nice oak shelves, but I tossed all the crafty things. I also had 18 different Apple potholders hanging, all that is down, too. I'll keep the potholders since there is a functional use for them.

Suddenly the space seems larger and I'd like to keep it that way. So I'm not going to clutter it back up.

WHAT does everyone have in their kitchen right now?

I used to have an apple them in my kitchen too.

Then we did a partial renovation...kept our oak cabinets but got new appliances, granite counters...and the apple thing just didn't seem to "work" anymore.

Right now the kitchen doesn't have a theme....unless "cluttered mess" is a theme. ;)

Yes, Ugly is the current theme. Lol! I have no idea what the previous owners were thinking. The kitchen is next on our to-do list, yet I have no idea what I want to do yet. :rotfl:

Yes, "no clutter" is my theme. I like to keep the kitchen as clear as possible so there's always room for the next project/meal.

We are renting right now, so can't really do too much and the kitchen doesn't have much wall or counter space to hang/put things on.

DH loves to cook and has so many different utensils. I'd love if we had the space to have a kitchen island with a hanging rack over it. I think I'd decorate it kind of French Provincial color-wise and just keep it "functional" with the cookware.

I did buy him a Chalkboard wall planter from williams Sonoma that we haven't put up yet. It'll be colorful and functional.

This is how I like to keep my kitchen as well. The only decorations I like in my kitchen is fresh flowers or bowls of fruit. I spend alot of time in my kitchen, I love to cook and use my laptop at my kitchen table so I like it to be clean and clear. I clean my kitchen several times a day so it stays this way. The kitchen is my favourite room in the house.

Theme decorating is so 1990's. Thank goodness TV shows stopped that.
My kitchen is decorated as a kitchen. Clean, no clutter & less dust.

Wine theme.

I really like that idea. Seeing as I have a cathedral ceiling with exposed tops to all my cabintry, I could just put a few empty wine bottles, different colors and sizes on top of those shelves.

That gives mea little theme, without clutter on the walls.

Thanks for the idea!.

Roosters, lots and lots of roosters. I am so over it.

I completely understand;).

The whole redo is just the result of having to take everything down to get the walls ready for painting. There is never going to be a better time to change things up.;).

kitchen colors are butter, taupe, black, and white. I had a couple of owls that were my mom's when I was growing up (a bowl, two black iron bookends, and an owl basket) and I put them in there and my mother has given me owl s & p shakers, an owl potholder, and an owl tray as gifts, so I guess my theme would be owls. :)

Finally, no "theme" in my kitchen. We just gutted and redid the one here in NC and everything is high tech. Never had that before and we're loving it. Back in FL, our house is Victorian and the kitchen has an art deco theme but it *works* for that particular house.

No theme. I have two pictures hanging in the breakfast area that are beach scenes. Yes, beach in the mountains...how wonderful. lol I have beach touches and Mickey touches all through the house. But uncluttered is freeing!!
