They've got it backwards. Free dining is good based on check in date. Room only discounts are good only on the exact days listed in the offer.

They've got it backwards. Free dining is good based on check in date. Room only discounts are good only on the exact days listed in the offer.

Us too Last August, we were able to exchange CS for snack credits. My mind is a little bit fuzzy .. but it may have been required that a drink be one of snack credits, i.e. a bottled water and 2 food (snack) items for each CS redeemed.

We were able to use a bunch of CS credits to buy snacks... as a matter of fact, it was a CM who told us to do this. I was buying snacks at the food court with our remaining snack credits to take home and mentioned how we were leaving and when the CM saw we still had CS credits she advised that we should convert those into snacks!! We didn't have to get drinks with ours. We ended up with over 50 snacks to take home!!! We just weren't using our CS credits because we just weren't that hungry with our TS meals.
But anyway, I have heard from a fairly reliable source that as of this year (or maybe late last year) they are NO longer allowing the conversion of CS credits to snacks! BOO!!
I head back to POP in 15 days and will put this on my list of things to confirm. As I do have the regular dining plan this time. DD got it for me for $30 a day! WooHoo!!! I will report back what I am able to find out.

Do you know if you can trade some CS for snacks? I am talking about trading them at Everything Pop. We did it back then in 2011 but I am not sure now. We may go to Crystal Palace once and pay OOP and we may end up with one CS meal left.

We have done this in the past in the POP Food Court but were turned down several times in Feb 2012. The only trade that seemed to fit into the new policy was a continental breakfast which consists of a drink, a pastry and a whole fruit (or sometimes packaged fruit). Thank you! We are going at a fairly busy time. May 23-29th. So, yeah, Memorial Day weekend is right smack in the middle. We got spoiled in January but we've been in the summer before, too, so we know what to expect. I am not sure what that means in terms of getting our request or not at POP. But I think I will do what you suggest and say "Building 3 or 1. Or 60's. Ground Floor. Connecting."

Added complication is that my BIL and his daughter are traveling with us but they are arriving a day early. They are booking standard, too, so I will suggest he ask for the same sort of requests. We'll see where he ends up. I will try and link his reservation with ours, too. It will be interesting to see what happens! ;-)

My Mom is coming too (in her own room) and I worry she will not like having the extra walk. But I figure she can book a preferred if she is really concerned. For one room it is only $111 extra but for two it adds up fast!

We will be there at the same time and also staying at POP. I have 2 rooms reserved as we're a family of 5 but letting our oldest's boyfriend tag along. We usually stay in 1 room at POR so this is our first trip at POP as well.. I DID pay that extra $200 for 2 preferred rooms connected. I was told it was a guarantee. I'm sure this is because I personally booked the trip and the reservations are linked. I guess we'll learn a few things when we go like whether or not we like staying at POP versus POR and whether or not we'll pay the extra money for preferred rooms next time or just chance it!

Well Not to burst your Disney bubble, but this is a request and is not guaranteed even though it may say it on your reservation... I'm only warning you because... 1. you are going at a VERY busy time where the resort is probably going to be close to or at 100% booked and 2. I see that by your ticker your not talking about minor children. So someone with minor children is going to get priority over your reservation. Since minors cannot be in a room by themselves. I'm assuming that your DD's Boyfriend is at least 18 so you really have more adults than minors... 4 adults to 2 minors... so if they need to divide the rooms they can and would do it. NOW, HOPEFULLY, it won't happen. But, I'm just saying, that at the time you are travelling, it is a very real possibilty especially because you are preferred and preferred is a smaller sect than standard. So, I am just saying, you may want to be prepared that it 'could' happen. Crossing my fingers for you that it doesn't but just thought I'd share that you may want to be prepared for the reality.

I'm not sure I understand your post. How many rooms are you planning? Since you have a 2 y.o. you can still do 2 rooms...but you want CONNECTING rooms, not adjoining. Not trying to pick, but there is a significant difference in Disney's eyes. Connecting has an interior door between the two rooms,,,adjoining rooms just means the rooms are beside each other. Make sense? So you want to make sure you use the correct terminology in your reservation.
Disney will do everything it can to accommodate your request, but the reality is...it can't give you a room it doesn't have, KWIM? So my suggestion is if the connecting rooms are the most important thing, I would be flexible on the other factors such as floor or bldgs. The more 'demands' you put in on those requests the harder it will make it for them to give you the connecting rooms. It still won't be a guarantee since they could split the two adults with kids...it's pretty much never a guarantee (unless it's ONE adult with more than 3 minor children, and then it STILL gets debated here on the boards...lol).
But I wouldn't sweat it, if you are willing to be flexible on location and all...you shouldn't have a problem. Also checking in earlier in the day is always a plus!

We could not trade in our CS meal credits for snacks in August 2012 when we stayed at Pop. The trip before that we could, and brought home over a dozen Mickeyhead rice crispie treats, dipped in chocolate, yum.

stitchlovestink, your trip is almost here! And appreciate you asking about the CS into snacks question ...curioius what you will be told and if this is really going to be a firm line on this issue since it seems it's been inconsistent with guests being able to or not.

And $30/day for the meal plan?? WOW! Congrats... we paid $41.99 back in 2006 for the DP which included appys and gratutities and we thought that was good.

Yes thank you for clearing that up for me. I would like connecting rooms. Not picky on anything else. I have no other request but to ask for connecting rooms. I was wondering about checking in early. We live 2 hrs away but we wouldn't be going to the hotel til DH gets off work. We wouldn't get there til around 9pm. I was thinking of driving up there early in the day and checkin. Then just come home. Was also thinking it would be fun to decorate the room for everyone. Thanks so much for the advice.

Yeah $30 is the CM price...since DD is a CM that's what it cost to add to my room for this trip. Those CM discounts can really spoil you!!!! I can't believe my room is only $58 a night! This is the cheapest trip I've ever taken to Disney...LOL! And since I have an AP, I don't need a ticket! My airfare is costing 2/3 of what I'm paying for my hotel! Crazy, huh??

I remember the DDP back then!! We saved our dining receipts... I paid $1880 for our trip (free dining for a family of four) and we spent $2230 in food! That was a deal!! Loved the dining plan so much better back then!!

Just come back from our 2 weeks first stay at pop. What a fab time!!! We even got our room request of lakeside 4th floor, and had the 60's building!! Perfect location for us right on the end too!! The staff were so friendly my son even got balloons for his birthday!! Everything was so clean and my sons loved the hippy dippy pool and table tennis. The only trouble is we are now infected with disney magic and want to go back!!
