~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Dh and I are trying to decide whether to go in early March, or toward the end of March early April. Wanting to avoid spring break and any cheerleading competitions...does anyone have any advice?

Keep in mind also that Easter next year is April 20. Our spring break is the week before, which is unusual because this area is usually the week after but next year most schools in the area are the week before.

Please add Gamegrl1 - mom and I are going (Lord willing!) January 26 - February 2, 2014. Will stay at All-Stars (probably ASMo). It's our first trip to WDW ever! :)

Hiya Gamegrl, and :welcome: to the group! How exciting - a first-ever trip! Your head must be swirling with information. Any fun plans you care to share?

I'll get you added to the list. If you end up not staying at ASMo, just let me know and I'll update. Look forward to getting to know you, so join in the conversation! :hyper2:

Hope your first trip is magical! pixiedust:

It looks like our decision has been made. We're going to go for the first week in November - looking at November 1 -9. Of course the exact dates may change, especially next year once MNSSHP and MVVCP are announced but DD has 2 days off school that we so we'd only be pulling her out for 3 days plus have the chance to attend both parties or I may even enter the 1/2 wine & dine 1/2 marathon if it coincides.
Also, I think we're going to be looking into staying at CBR in one of the pirates room so it's not a completely girly trip since DS will be bit older :)

I am so happy I found this thread!!! I am working on planning our February 2014 trip!! I will be booking a room at POR in a couple of months!!

Fingers crossed for a FD plan for Feb!! Loved it last time we went!!

We'll be there - arriving Saturday, 11/1/14!

We went in November of 2012 (and again in Jan 2013) and can't wait to go back during the same time... keeping my fingers crossed and hoping we see some Christmas decorations while we're there in early November-- we were able to make the Osborne Lights & MVMCP last time when we went early in November

We already have our Disney crusie booked for 11/6-9 and we'll be spending 3 or 4 nights in the parks before we head out to sea! We'll either be at AoA (we stayed there in November) or rent DVC points and stay at Bay Lake Towers.

We have 3 girls so we'll be all over the princesses again and looking forward to the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train. We were lucky to catch the Fantasy Land Expansion on our last trip.

Can't wait until we can actually BOOK the rest of the trip...we booked our cruise on Valentine's Day, so we have a lot of time in between...

Yay! :yay: Thanks for updating! Sounds like you have lots of planning to do. ::yes:: I love the pics of the pirate rooms at CBR. They're so cool looking, I'm sure your DS will love that.

I was so hoping to go to MVMCP when we go next year, but since we've decided on October, maybe we can hit MNSSHP again. :teeth:

Well, we're happy you found us, too! :welcome:

Once you get your dates figured out, just make sure you post so I can update you on the list.

The dining promos that were released in 2011/2012 for your time frame were not released for 2013. :guilty: WDW is making a lot of changes to the way they're doing discounts, FD included. HERE IS A LINK to the Mousesavers Historical Discounts list that will show the past and current discounts being offered. For more info and discussion, you can always visit the WDW Discount Codes & Rates Board here on the DIS.

So your dates are 11/1 - 11/6, correct? I'll get you added to the list. ::yes:: Once you know for sure where you're staying, just post so I can update your info.

I'm not sure how soon they put up the Christmas decorations, and search is currently down so I can't even look to get you a rough ballpark timeframe. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

You're welcome! :goodvibes

I can't advise about cheerleading competitions. As far as how heavy the crowds will be, have you checked any of the crowd calendars? This years will be up for March and April, and at least that would give you some idea of how next year might look.

Mickey is invading your DH's dreams and sending him subliminal messages! I'd say there is definitely hope - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :goodvibes I have a feeling once you get to Orlando, there's no way you'll be able to stay away ... even if you only go one day.

Yes, keep them crossed ~ it's working, lol! Since he told me about his dreams, 2 more things have happened. A guy he used to work with stopped by to pick some stuff up and told him he and his family are going to Disney next week AND we went and bought a new (to us) car today and the finance guy he worked with also told him he was going to Disney next week :rotfl2: Maybe one day at the new Fantasyland is in our future sooner rather than later  but I won't hold my breath!

Oh, and today we did talk more about our 2014 trip and it looks more and more like we will be staying onsite (unless the place this summer knocks our socks off)! We will for sure know after our June trip.

Mickey's going to get you this year, one way or another! :rotfl2: Congrats on the new (to you) car! What did ya get? Do tell!

Maybe I should start crossing my fingers for your 2014 trip also, no? :teeth:

Ch-Ch-Changes!

Just when we thought we finally had our 2014 trip planned ... now my husband wants us (meaning me) to look into renting DVC points instead of staying at POP. :goodvibes I have mixed feelings about this.

I love POP! Love the vibe there, the bright colors, it's such a fun atmosphere. I'm one of those people who really like the oversized icons, really both of us are. I was really excited about staying there again.

But when he mentioned DVC, my heart started beating a little bit faster. See, we've been thinking about buying DVC since our trip last year. We stayed at SSR for part of the trip and just loved it.

My husband, wisely, is very cautious about these things. ::yes:: He wants us to stay at at least one more DVC resort before we jump in and just buy at SSR. While I think it's smart, I'm ready to buy already! I know I love SSR, I don't need to see anywhere else.

So this is the current plan (emphasis on CURRENT): We're probably going to look into staying at BWV, OKW, or AKV for the 2014 trip. In that order, his choices. We would be staying in a studio and taking at least one day to get a feel for the place. We'll probably also take the DVC tour yet again, or at least get updated materials.

Just when I think I have everything figured out, things change again! ARGH! pirate: Oh well, hopefully this will help us make the right decision when/if the time to purchase ever comes around.

Oh, the 2014 trip is a definite!! We just don't know where we want to stay! I'm hoping after going to Orlando this summer and staying off-site (since we aren't doing WDW), it will give us a feel of what we (might) miss if we were to stay off site for the Disney trip. Oh, and we had Chrysler Town and Country mini-van, and we just traded for a newer model...stylin'!! lol, no really, I love my mini-van, just still can't believe I drive one ~ ha!

Well, I'm sure you are ready to know where you are staying, but it does sound fun to try everything out! We have always stayed somewhere different. I am all over the place about where to stay next time. Tell me about SSR ~ thinking of trying to rent points for a stay there. But then again, I've never cared much to stay at Beach or Yacht Club but I was researching them today and now I'm thinking they would be fun! Next trip the girls will all be old enough for a kids club ~ sure would be fun to take them and DH and I could walk over to WS (can't you walk from those resorts ~ or take a boat??)!

Hey, nothing wrong with a mini-van. :goodvibes Our friends finally caved and bought one after they had their second child. They refuse to call it a mini-van, though ... they call it a people-mover.

I'll PM you about SSR - I have some photos from our last trip.

IIRC, you can walk or boat over to EP from BC/YC and BWV. To be perfectly honest, I know very little about any of the DVC resorts save for SSR. We did do the tour and saw AKV and AUL, both of which were lovely. The good thing about DVC is the community hall where there are games, DVDs, etc.

Plans might have changed for the better :goodvibes There was talk of DH getting a promotion but there's always talk around there so I wasn't really thinking about it. In the last week they've brought him in for additional training, moved some staff around and given him a few more responsibilities. It's looking like this is actually a go this time and in the very near future. The new job comes with a raise and more vacation time so we could potentially be looking at adding a few more days to our trip. If we went from Friday to Friday we could fly direct, 2.5hrs travel time instead of the 6 we're looking at with a connecting flight. Nothing is set in stone but I'm already making rough plans for a full week instead of 4.5 days. There's so much more we could do!

Definetly thinking of a special order cake for him. Just have to figure out if I'm doing Stitch (his favorite character) or Star Wars or maybe I'll combine them both. :)

Other than SWW we haven't settled on any other activities yet. It will be our first cruise so I think we are a little nervous about how we will all feel after it. We are all hoping for no motion sickness.

We have never been to SWW so I am sure that will take up a big chunk of time. He already said he wants to get his picture taken with Chewie for sure.

This is wonderful news, rharper! :yay: A raise and promotion - that's cause for celebration! party: :dance3: More time at WDW is always a good thing, too. ;) Let us know what happens!!

WDW does some really neat specialty cakes. I believe I have a link in Post #2 that should help you if you're planning to order from them.

We have never cruised, so I can't help you there. Something we've thought of, planned out twice, but never got to go. I've heard SeaBands can be helpful, as well as ginger.

You're going to have a great time! I'm hoping lots of pixiedust comes your way. pixiedust:

Booked our trip for the last week in January!!! We are staying in a 1 bedroom theme park view at BLT. This will be my third stay at BLT, but first with Magic Kingdom view. Can't wait!! It will also be my dd's 3rd Disney trip and she will only be 2 and half by the time we go again. LOL. Loved that we joined the DVC before having kids. So excited for her to be able to see fireworks from our room every night! 327 days to go... Seems so far away :(
