Dwarves mine train?

We are also really looking forward to it bc my wife will likely be able to ride- she can do fast, but not up and down- it is my understanding there is literally no vertical movement. Even the tiny drop at end of test track turns her stomach for hours afterward

~Hey boss! I think you might be wrong about this one! Keyword: might! This is supposed to be a dark ride and coaster, it could be the next ToT! But, why is this taking so long??? NASA can build a space shuttle, do the launch to Mars and come back faster than this darn coaster!

I think it will be great b/c I think Disney rarely disappoints when it comes to rides and attractions. (products are another story...) However, I'm pretty certain it's going to be a family friendly coaster - nothing scary. Somewhere I saw a video of the animated sketch version of the ride and it looked cool but pretty tame to me. Incidentally, I think that's a good thing. I love coasters but little kids often don't (my DD included), and that's what the MK is really about.

~Don't let the Pirate hear you say that, lol -- or any of the "old timers," for that matter. :rotfl:

~Anyway, I am so excited about this coaster, it has the potential to be spectacular! I don't expect it to be "thrilling" -- I just want to see those fabulous GEMS!!! I wan't them to sparkle, glisten & glow! We'll see. :goodvibes

:) I think people become jaded and it's unfortunate. It's Disney for goodness sake - there are more important issues in life for people to get panties in a wad about. As with many experiences in life, attitude and approach are half of it. I go to Disney to relax and have a good time, and therefore, I do. :)

this wont be scary one bit or intense..its in fantasyland..how many rides in fantasyland are not geared towards children?...HMM none but who knows maybe i will be in for a nice surprise

They keep telling us who work here to tell guests summer 2014! But that doesn't mean it won't be open earlier. New fantasyland was open earlier than it's "open" date!

I'm excited and feel that this will be a good ride but there are a few red flags that have me worried. First is that a rollercoaster will blow through the dark scenes too fast. Second, is the Little Mermaid. I really don't want to see a bunch of plastic dwarves stuck on a stick spinning around.
Frankly, I think they'll do the dark scenes justice (which is a big leap of faith I know) but it leaves the first problem. I'm hoping that the rollercoaster has a self powered slow mode through a bunch of the scenes. A gravity drop only coaster of this size will be over pretty quick and that will leave me wanting on the dark ride side.
If they pull off an exceptional dark ride experience with the thrill of a rollercoaster it probably still won't be an E ticket ride for me but it will be like a D+.

Based on the rest of the expansion, my expectations are pretty low

I really hope it opens in Feb or January. Since we will be there for a whole week in Feb 2014 for our wedding. Im super excited about this new ride. I cant wait for october to try the new Be our guest restaurant too :D.

I'm really excited for the mine train ride! I was just in Disney last week and the construction looks awesome. You're gonna love the Be Our Guest restaurant. The food is fantastic! And the the inside is stunning!

Completely understandable. Like I said the LM left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
However I think about it this way. A roller coaster that size will be at least a C and having it enclosed in an actual themed mountain (not a show building) will bump it up to a D.
Now if it is indeed a worthy replacement for the subs or the original Snow White ride that is another matter. LM definitely wasn't up to replacing the Nautilus so the Mine coaster has to make up a lot more than just being a worthy replacement for SW.
While I appreciate the detail and quality they put into the FL renovation it is a lot of wasted space. Who knows, maybe they'll squeeze in a few good attractions in the future?
The last nagging issue is now the old fantasy land feels very cheap. They need to bring it up to the same quality level as the rest. I was hoping the new princess M&G would be the start of it but it needs more than a simple refacing.

its scheduled for 2014 but a cast member told me that they are ahead of schedule and it might preview at the end of this year. I was also told its going to be a combination of a roller coaster like Big Thunder Mountain and the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland. Looks pretty awesome!

I wouldn't necessarily believe what cast members tell you. They are certainly not told that information

When they first introduced the idea, I immediately thought it was going to be a lot like Big Thunder. On the tame side, but slower to enjoy the scenes throughout. I'll be there in July, so I won't be able to see it completed in person for quite some time.

Well I see I took a beating from a few apologists but some realists see it straight.

It is just entertainment. It is just a theme park but why not hold this theme park, you know, the one started by the genius to a higher quality than say, Walmart?

If you want to just cheer like you would for you favorite sports team or college team then fine. But if you want to look at things objectively and root for what is best for all fans let me know.:)

You really think that you are looking at things objectively? :rotfl2:

I guess you didn't like Everest? :confused3

everest is weak and the main attraction to the ride is not mechanically salvageable...

you heard it here first. actually...i feel like I'm in somekind of alternate dimension when i keep saying this - what am i missing?

somebody please tell me why this ride deserves credit beyond the "steel zipper" at your local amusement park?

~What in the world is this?!? EVERYONE is watching the GAME, you know I am watching the game, um you are supposed to be cheering for your home town team!!! Instead of being a team player, you are the only one here stirring up stuff. Just because you abandon us, for an ocean view does not alleviate you from your obligations to the great Maize & Blue! :( I just can't watch the end!

~Apologist? I don't think so, we're idealist -- and what you express here does not reflect the characteristics of a true realist -- so just don't. And, you didn't take a "beating", those were just love taps -- you know, because I've just got this thing for you. :lovestruc I can't focus right now, but at this rate there will be plenty more opportunities for you to get a beat down!

~He's not -- it's an inside jab, I mean joke! :rotfl:
