I love Harry Potter and have to admit that I am desperately excited to do the WWoHP this summer...I can't wait for the Three Broomsticks and Honeydukes and what not...:goodvibes (I don't think Universal will ever be Disney but I do think that they have access to several really strong movies... HP being the strongest...)

Oh wow... I'm also a big fan of the Jurassic Park films so that should be great fun as well...:thumbsup2 I do think the first was the very best and Jeff Goldblum's character... Malcolm... I think... had some of the very best lines... including the whole "But when the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down... the pirates don't start eating the guests...-or something to that effect... pretty funny especially when you're a Dis fan...:happytv:

Hope you have fun at Winterlude... I always thought Ottawa sounded charming and it would be cool to skate on the canal... I hope you share some photos...:rolleyes1

Oh dear! I've had a really busy couple of weeks! We had a great trip to Ottawa and I'll share some pictures with you soon. I'm still catching up on my sleep and laundry! :rotfl: This morning Johnny and I both had to work, but he had to work at 8 and I at 10 so I have two hours to kill. So here I am!

Cute! Happy belated Valentines Day to you too!

Universal definitely has a lot to choose from, they do their rides very well, but the little things that make Disney so special are lacking at U.S. Oh well, it's still a fun stop sometimes, and it makes me appreciate friendly cast members!
Winterlude was fun, I wish we could have seen more! I do have some pictures to share!

Hi! I'm a little late but I'm subbing in now :surfweb:. Can't wait to read more about it.
Hi! :welcome: !! Glad to have you!

Mini Trip Report
Location: Ottawa

Hi folks! How's everybody been? I've been absent a while now, very busy! I'm back and catching up on everyone. First I'd like to share a little bit of my trip to Ottawa! I went to visit my best friend. She's getting married in August here at home and I went to do some bridesmaid dress shopping and general planning.

We landed on Thursday evening and we went back to Sarah's place to get changed. Then the four of us went out to a beautiful dinner at an Italian restaurant for Valentines Day. We drove around and looked at the city and I could see the appeal, it's a really beautiful place! We drove by the Prime Minister's house and there was one single RCMP car at the end of the driveway with his windshield covered with snow. Johnny, who has been to the White House, couldn't get over the difference in security! :rotfl:

Friday Sarah and her fiance had to work so Johnny and I hit the town. We went to a mall and had some great luck shopping, went to North America's largest Ikea (Johnny was in awe, he's never seen an Ikea!) Then we drove to visit my cousin and her family who live near by. We spent a long time visiting with them and her kids had a blast playing board games with us. She fed us a delicious meal and after a while we headed back to Sarah's where we relaxed for the evening.

Saturday we played some curling:

Well, they played. I fell down a lot. But I still had a blast! If I knew anyone around here interested in playing I would definitely join the curling club. Lots of fun!

Then Sarah, another bridesmaid and I had an appointment at a bridal shop! Su, the other maid and I both had great luck finding dresses we liked so we were measured and purchased! Took a huge weight off Sarah's shoulders having that done!
Here's my style:

Going to be charcoal grey. SO pretty!

After that us girls went out to a pub while the guys played PS3. That evening we ordered a pizza and talked wedding until 4:30am. This is where I realized Sarah needs a planner! :lmao:

Sunday was our last day. We wanted to go out for breakfast but the restaurants in Ottawa were really busy so we drove to Gatineau, Quebec for breakfast. Johnny got a kick out of that, another province to add to his list!

Then we went to the War Museum. This was something Johnny wanted to do. I never thought Sarah would too, I figured Johnny could go see it while she and I shopped for dresses... but no. Unfortunately Sarah and her fiance wanted to see the museum too so I tagged along. Wow. It was... boring. :sad2: Definitely not my thing. But here's a few pictures anyway!

After the museum we went back to their place and got on ALL of our warmest clothes. We then set out for a night of seeing the real winter Ottawa! We went to a restaurant called The Honest Lawyer. Terrible food but it had arcade games so we had fun. Then we walked to Confederation Park and saw the ice sculptures:

Soooooooooo many layers!!
47826_10151323210832989_1874543133_n.jpg

Had a Beaver Tail: (Call it the Canadian churro. I had mine with cinnamon and lemon! Delish)
48081_10151323211292989_2069468173_n.jpg

And then headed to the Rideau Canal for some skating!
58819_10151323212062989_238673322_n.jpg

Unfortunately it was too cold to skate, and all the rental places had closed, so we just glided around a bit. Conditions were terrible too, really snowy and rutted. Oh well, we saw it at least!

That night we stayed up until about 3am again talking about wedding stuff.

Monday we were set to head home. There was a big wind storm blowing through Nova Scotia so we weren't sure we would get home. We did, with only a half hour delay.

So that's our quickie trip to Ottawa! We had a lot of fun, I'd like to see the city again in some warmer weather!

I was going to do a Disney post too, but I just realized that the pictures I need aren't uploaded yet and I'm at work so I can't do it now. I'll get them tonight maybe! Or tomorrow. Tomorrow is Daytona 500 day so I'm going to have to find something to do while Johnny watches that!

Omg now I want a beaver tail ,I've never tried the kind you had though(i like the chocolate peanut butter ones with reeses pieces that we can get in Niagara Falls) Again so sad that you were in my province yet still so far away :worried:

I wanted to try every different kind of Beaver tail. I've never seen them where I live so I felt like this was my last chance! LOL
You have a big province. hahaha! Maybe some time when I'm there for a little longer. :thumbsup2

Welcome Back!!!! I knew you were somewhere, but I haven't really been on FB recently, so I didn't know where.

Sounds like a really fun trip and I love your pictures. The War Museum may have been boring, but your pictures make it look really fun!

Love those ice sculptures. I have always wanted to go to ICE in Orlando at Christmas time, but it looks so COLD. BRRRRRRRR!

Sounds like a fun trip!!! The Beaver Tail sounds really good, I'd love to try one some day!

The picture of your dress wouldn't load here, but I love the charcoal grey bridesmaid dress idea! :goodvibes

We did have fun, Johnny even wants to go back!
The War Museum was interesting, lots to look at and read... just definitely not up my alley of interests. :confused3 I did enjoy taking pictures of things in there for a little while though.
It was SO COLD the night we went to look at the ice sculptures! HAhaha I thought I was used to winter in Canada until I went to Ottawa!

It was very fun! I want to start a petition to have Beaver Tails in the Canadian pavilion at Epcot. Or at the very least for the Food & Wine Festival!
I noticed after you posted that the picture of the dress didn't show up so I tried it again. It's really cute!

Oh folks. It's getting bad. I have no trip planned. It's been 5 months since I've been there. I HAVE NO TICKER! I'm getting the shakes, man!

Tim Hortons (Canadian coffee chain, for those of you not in the know) has a Roll up the Rim contest, you roll up the rim of your coffee cup and you could win different prizes. I promised Johnny that if we win one of the $5,000 prizes we're booking a trip to WDW. He's trying to think of ways we can go back in the event that we do not win the money. We both have got it bad.

I am currently sitting at work sipping hot chocolate (my morning WDW drink!) out of my resort refill mug and I could probably work up a few tears without much effort. Anyway. Since all I can do at the moment is work on my trip report, here's the next installment. :sad1:

Thursday September 20, 2012
"Swing yer napkins round and round!"

We had just arrived back in the bubble from Universal Studios and were so happy to see smiling faces again. We each took a shower and a quick nap. I checked Facebook on my phone to see what was up, and I was also texting eeyore04 to see if she wanted to meet up to travel together to our evening's destination. She did so we made plans.

While on Facebook, I saw a comment on one of my check-ins from a man I had met this time last year right here in Disney. (Quick recap: He's a Canadian plumber who we stood next to at the fireworks.) He said;

"Are you guys in Disney now?? No way. We land tomorrow afternoon for a long weekend! We should meet up!"

How ironic is that!? I met the guy at Disney and would meet up with him again at Disney. So I completely re-worked the remainder of our schedule and arranged to meet up with him the next night. (That will be a bit of a surprise!)

I got a text from eeyore04 that she and her family were at Art of Animation checking out the scenery. Johnny and I got ready and headed down to meet them. We agreed on a bus to MK and when it came within minutes we all hopped on. Once there, we agreed on the boat to our next destination (and my first picture! :faint:)

8501957750_42abd0b377_c.jpg

YAY! We're all doing something new!

8501946640_ee14f0e1c5_c.jpg

We lined up outside of the hall and waited to be able to check in. We were quite early so we wandered around checking out the scenery. When we were able to check in, we quickly lined up and we were first and second in the line. We chatted with some other Revue-goers and waited to get our Photopass Pictures done. Since eeyore04 had the Photopass + card and could just get the pictures put on it, we decided to get our pictures together in one big group. As we walked over to get situated, large rain drops started hitting our heads. Of course it WOULD rain, I was with Amy! That's what happens! We rushed to get some pictures and ran inside. (I will insert the pictures when I get home, I thought I had everything ready to do this update from work but I don't have those! :faint:)

We got inside. We were seated separately -- Johnny and I had category 2 while Amy and family had category 1. We did have a good seat though, far to the left of the stage and near the front.

8500812421_6b9d74609a_c.jpg

We could see Amy through the crowd a little:
8500784639_f82ccaee63_c.jpg

We were at the latest show, 9:30 so it was somewhat empty. No one in the balcony and the farthest two rows of tables were unoccupied. That's ok, the entertainment was fantastic!

8500749339_899b5fcfa9_c.jpg

8500738861_1f6a9bbb2f_c.jpg

Now Johnny had specifically asked for category two because he was afraid of being picked on by the performers and asked to come on stage, speak in front of people, stand up, or anything that could draw attention to him. Of course they came straight to our table anyway! She (I forget which she) asked where we were from in the song about all the places. I was amazed at how many Canadians they called on!

Later in the dinner when they ask anyone celebrating an anniversary or honeymoon to raise their hands, I didn't even though we were celebrating our anniversary. But Johnny surprised me and raised his! They asked us how many years and we told them two. Then they played a song for all the couples to dance to and Johnny surprised me again and actually got up and danced with me. :flower3: He's too sweet.

8500731777_2beb3b284f_c.jpg

Our service was great, the food was very good. The entertainment was absolutely fantastic! We had an absolute blast.

8501831102_3dd7c4a118_c.jpg

We did find the strawberry shortcake to be a little too sweet though.

8500690713_f6acf721fd_c.jpg

We agreed we would definitely come back.

8500686925_e289ddc612_c.jpg

When we got out it was pouring rain so we took shelter under a roof while we got oriented and found our busses. I love that they provide easy transportation. It was very late at this point and I was full and warm and ready for bed. I don't remember much past this point other than we got back and trudged back to our room and collapsed in bed.

** Dinner Show Review **

Getting to the Wilderness resort was easy, much easier than I had in my anxious mind. Finding the hall, also easy. The seats were great, I would definitely say you would have a great view from anywhere in the place.

Food: The food was pretty good. The salad was very yummy and so was the bread. We had to try not to fill up on it as much as we wanted to. The fried chicken was really delicious, nice and hot and crispy. I'm not a fan of ribs, but Johnny did say he didn't love them (though he's not much a fan of ribs either.) The mashed potatoes were typically Disney-yummy and I don't like baked beans (umm have I ever mentioned how picky I am?? I should do a whole Dining Report for picky people.) I did find the strawberry shortcake was too sweet, I could taste the sugar more than the strawberries. It was fresh though. All in all, 4/5

Entertainment: Absolute non-stop fun from the moment you sit down. The jokes are corny of course but it's all in good fun. They do a lot of audience participation, so if you are very uncomfortable with that you might want to pick a lower seat category (although be warned, the entertainers travel around!) Definitely 5/5.

Value: The experience is a bit pricey. We used our dining plan and it was two table service credits. Given that some restaurants use two credits for just a meal, I would say that this is well worth it. One for your dinner and one for your show! Even if you're paying for it, I would still say it is worth it. There is so much food and great fun. 5/5 for value.

Total: 4.9/5

A definite must-do for us.
*********************************************************

So that's it for today! When I get home I'll add the Photopass pictures. And then we're on to my second last day!

I haven't been to Hoop Dee Doo in many years, but I think its a great show and a lot of fun. My boys loved it. I hope I get back around to seeing it again on one of these trips.

I figured it was about time for you to have the Disney bug again. I hope you can work something out. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I really enjoyed the show. I definitely would like to see it again!
I do have the Disney bug and bad, but I have to admit that Johnny has it worse! He will find a way for us to get back. I can see us going this year if we can swing it at all. :goodvibes

You've got the Walt Disney Withdrawal Syndrome (WDW for short :P). We got it bad a few weeks ago (and might of given in and booked another trip for later this year...) It's an addiction I swear.

Glad you guys had a blast at Hoop de Doo. It looks like a lot of fun.

As a side note: I love Roll up the Rim season. It adds a bit of suspense and excitement to my mornings :)

I can see your dress now!!! Very cute!!! :goodvibes

HDDR sounds like a lot of fun! We've never been there before, but it sounds like a great Disney classic to visit!

I LOVE hoop de doo!! Funny story, I went in Dec 2011 with my sister and my mom and my sister was so worried the whole time she was going to get called out. Wouldn't you know, they actually picked her to be the can can girl!! One of the male performers came up as we were eating (during one of the breaks) and asked if either one of us wanted to do it and I immediately volunteered her. She wouldn't speak to me the rest of the night! It was such a fun experience and we still talk about it all the time! We are planning to go back this October :)

We definitely have the withdrawal syndrome really bad. We were actually planning an imaginary trip today.
Hoop Dee Doo was really fun! We had a blast!
I'm doing SO terrible this year on Roll up!

I would definitely recommend Hoop Dee Doo to anyone, it's really fun!

Omg, that sounds like Johnny's luck too hahaha, he wants to be picked on like he wants a hole in the head! :rotfl2:

Hoop De Doo looks like fun...:goodvibes I have never been to it... & I feel its one of those classic Disney experiences... we probs should go...

You do have the Disney Withdrawal Syndrome... I hope that you win your contest or finagle some way to get your fix...;)

I love your Winterlude update/photos...

I thought it was pretty interesting how mellow the security is for the Canadian PM... it is crazy for our President...

I love your BM dress... very feminine and sophisticated...:thumbsup2

I'm sorry you didn't get to ice skate on the Canal... Maybe they need a zamboni? ;) thought I remember seeing Beaver Tails in Epcot once? Hmmm... or am I imagining it... It just seems like the perfect kiosk snack...

Pretty Ice Sculptures...

Hey girl! Loved your update from Ottawa...spent a summer there during high school when my best friend moved there...military life, ya gotta love it!

You should plan a trip out here and we'll taking you skating at The Forks, when the rivers meet....it'll be cold, but we'll have fun!!!

Anyhoodle, I feel your pain hon. The Disney Blues was a big part of why I took a coupld of months away from the Dis....Now that we have a trip planned it makes it easier but until September we don't know for sure if it will happen. We have to wait until Shan gets her fall schedule for school so keep your fingers crossed!

I laughed at your Roll up the Rim, I had my sister buy us $20 worth of 50/50 tickets at the Jet's game last night and the final amount was over $70 000 so I told shan if we had won half that we could go on many Disney vacations, as many as she wanted LOL

Ahh me too. Johnny wants to go more than me so we just might find a way yet...

It was hilarious actually. Kind of summed up living in Canada for me. :rotfl2:

They actually do have a few zamboni, the problem was our timing. We came JUST before they scraped and resurfaced the ice so it was at its worst.

Pretty Ice Sculptures...
