Hey! For us wussy little Southern Californians, temperatures even in the high 30s might as well be frozen. Even a lot of the animals had the good sense to be inside! It was well after 11PM too.

Hello all...it's been a while since I posted on here. Anyway, our dates changed slightly - we'll be at AKL from June 8-16 and then moving over to BC from June 16-23.

On June 8, I am planning a straight resort day and we should arrive sometime in the morning (we are staying at SOG for a room only June 7 after driving the other 1/2 of our trip). How far in advance are the resort activities posted/where will I be able to find them?

We do have Boma dinner ressies this night also. Also, does anyone know if they still trade Vinylmations in the gift shop?

Yes- we did the same time period in 2011 and it was pretty good for crowds. My kids don't go back to school until after Labor Day. We're actually boarding Freedom of the Seas after WDW and then heading back to NY and will still be back for the first day of school.

Sorry if that was confusing- Freedom is docking at Pt Canaveral round trip. So we will go to the Caribbean and then when we get back to FL, we're driving back home.

Kimmar - DH and I are cruising the Norwegian Gem out of NYC to Canada and New England in early October. Your *Cruise to Nowhere* was on the Gem, wasn't it? From which NYC port did you sail?

Starting next Tuesday, just booked it, consider ourselves lucky to be going on vacation next week. Here it is:

Fri AKL CL one bedroom club level, yippee!I feel so lucky that this room opened up.

Sat,Sun,Mon Pop Century

AKL Club Level, one bedroom, we will enjoy this special resort, on the club level, I just am amazed at my luck to score this room, even for one night.

You are all big fans of AKL, we booked the Waynyama safari, with dinner at Jiko for Friday afternoon/evening, any other good advice for us.

Congratulations on your trip! Since you're only at AKL for the one night I wouldn't trip to do too much, just enjoy the resort. You can probably stay and enjoy the pool all Saturday before heading to Pop Century. And you can go to the CL all Saturday as well, your elevator card will still work. Don't rush out of there.

Kimmar - DH and I are cruising the Norwegian Gem out of NYC to Canada and New England in early October. Your *Cruise to Nowhere* was on the Gem, wasn't it? From which NYC port did you sail?

....there's only one port from NYC; it's around 50th Street [or thereabouts] in Manhattan, on the Hudson River. The other port is actually Bayonne, which is ACROSS the river, on the New Jersey side!

Royal doesn't leave from NYC anymore do they? What about the ol Brooklyn Yard, Or is that just strictly Princess cruise line??

Royal is going out of Bayonne, as well as Celebrity. My parents were on Explorer of the Seas during Hurricane Sandy this past fall. The main NYC port is around 50th St, and you will find most Carnival/Norwegian departures there. The Brooklyn port is used by Princess and I believe Cunard.

I know Gem sails out of NYC, not NJ So you think around 50th Street?

The mention of Bayonne brings back some great memories! Many years ago when I worked in Paramus, my boss was affectionately known as "Benji from Bayonne"!!!
