My family and I were headed to Epcot from the AoA resort on 2/14 when I decided to look at the “My Disney Experience” app that I had downloaded to my Iphone the night before. I clicked on the “My Plans” tab and then the “add plans” tab. I then scrolled down to the “add fastpass+ to your plan” and clicked on the “select fastpass+ experiences”. The app then asked me what date I wanted to choose my fastpass+ experience. I pulled up the calendar and selected Feb. 14th. It then asked me for which park did I want to choose my fastpass+ for. I selected Epcot (since this was the park we were headed to). It then gave a long list of attractions that already have fastpass such as TestTrack and Soarin” and also included attractions that currently do not have fastpass such as The Seas with Nemo and Spaceship Earth. It then had me select my 3 fastpass+ choices. I chose TestTrack, Soarin’ and Living with the Seas with Nemo. A window then popped up with four options of different fastpass return times (options A, B, C & D). I then had to select which option I wanted. I chose option A because it gave us the most recent times to our arrival to the park.
The app then posted something like “Thank you, your fastpass+ times have been reserved for your family of five” (that was the other thing, I could choose how many in my party were requesting fastpasses. I chose 5 because that’s how many were in my family). After that I was able to pull up the option A and the window return times for our fastpass+ for each of the attractions I selected.
At this point I wasn’t clear how they would read my fastpasses. It was just on my Iphone. When we finally got through the entrance at Epcot I asked a cast member and they were unsure so they directed us to Guest Relations. I then spoke with a cast member at Guest Relations. He originally told me that we could use the fastpass+ as well as our KTTW cards to get more fast passes if we wanted. I then questioned this because I explained to him that my understanding was that we were only allotted 3 fastpass+ per day per family member. He then seemed confused and said he would speak to someone in the back. About 5 minutes went by when he came back out and explained that someone from IT would be coming to talk with us because the fastpass+ system wasn’t actually up and running.
Another 5 minutes went by when Jamie from RFID IT came up and spoke with us. He was very nice and actually seemed tickled that I was able to reserve fastpass+ times on my phone because the system hadn’t gone “live” yet. He explained that they had the server up doing tests and that I must have linked in when that was going on. He looked at my phone and said that was indeed how it would look when the fastpass+ system was up and running. I asked him if the system would be going live any time soon and he said no that they were still doing trial/test runs on the system and would gradually roll the program out like others have posted, starting with specific resorts, but that there was no set live date for the system. He was very kind and apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused us. He then gave us three family fastpasses that were good for our family of 5 to receive 3 fast passes on any attraction for the rest of the day. We opted to stay at Epcot the rest of the day and used our fastpasses for two rides on Test Track and one on Soarin’.
Just wanted to share our interesting experience!
