My family and I were headed to Epcot from the AoA resort on 2/14 when I decided to look at the “My Disney Experience” app that I had downloaded to my Iphone the night before. I clicked on the “My Plans” tab and then the “add plans” tab. I then scrolled down to the “add fastpass+ to your plan” and clicked on the “select fastpass+ experiences”. The app then asked me what date I wanted to choose my fastpass+ experience. I pulled up the calendar and selected Feb. 14th. It then asked me for which park did I want to choose my fastpass+ for. I selected Epcot (since this was the park we were headed to). It then gave a long list of attractions that already have fastpass such as TestTrack and Soarin” and also included attractions that currently do not have fastpass such as The Seas with Nemo and Spaceship Earth. It then had me select my 3 fastpass+ choices. I chose TestTrack, Soarin’ and Living with the Seas with Nemo. A window then popped up with four options of different fastpass return times (options A, B, C & D). I then had to select which option I wanted. I chose option A because it gave us the most recent times to our arrival to the park.

The app then posted something like “Thank you, your fastpass+ times have been reserved for your family of five” (that was the other thing, I could choose how many in my party were requesting fastpasses. I chose 5 because that’s how many were in my family). After that I was able to pull up the option A and the window return times for our fastpass+ for each of the attractions I selected.

At this point I wasn’t clear how they would read my fastpasses. It was just on my Iphone. When we finally got through the entrance at Epcot I asked a cast member and they were unsure so they directed us to Guest Relations. I then spoke with a cast member at Guest Relations. He originally told me that we could use the fastpass+ as well as our KTTW cards to get more fast passes if we wanted. I then questioned this because I explained to him that my understanding was that we were only allotted 3 fastpass+ per day per family member. He then seemed confused and said he would speak to someone in the back. About 5 minutes went by when he came back out and explained that someone from IT would be coming to talk with us because the fastpass+ system wasn’t actually up and running.

Another 5 minutes went by when Jamie from RFID IT came up and spoke with us. He was very nice and actually seemed tickled that I was able to reserve fastpass+ times on my phone because the system hadn’t gone “live” yet. He explained that they had the server up doing tests and that I must have linked in when that was going on. He looked at my phone and said that was indeed how it would look when the fastpass+ system was up and running. I asked him if the system would be going live any time soon and he said no that they were still doing trial/test runs on the system and would gradually roll the program out like others have posted, starting with specific resorts, but that there was no set live date for the system. He was very kind and apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused us. He then gave us three family fastpasses that were good for our family of 5 to receive 3 fast passes on any attraction for the rest of the day. We opted to stay at Epcot the rest of the day and used our fastpasses for two rides on Test Track and one on Soarin’.

Just wanted to share our interesting experience!

Interesting. What I think I am most impressed with is how you kept your cool while you were waiting and even though what you did was not supposed to be live yet. It so refreshing to hear a clear and objective report about something that is upcoming at WDW. Thanks. :goodvibes

Thanks suzicute20! When I was looking through the app I think I was so surprised that I was able to make the FP+ selections that when we went to guest relations I just had questions about how it would then work.

Cool. Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like they are indeed working on getting this going and really DON'T know when it'll be ready.

Now this is some fun information! I will link this to the ongoing list I am collecting.

There are few interesting items connected to this:

3 FP+
Time Slots A, B, C, D. So does mean that they are all clumped. Did you try to change your times? That would have been fun to see. :)

And you were allowed to book Soarin and Test Track both e-ticket rides.

Thanks for the report.

The four different options: A,B,C & D gave us different scenarios of return times. Option A gave us pretty quick return times to the attractions. The others were staggered out differently. I didn't look at them too closely as we were on our way in to the park but it seemed like the options varied and could work if you had, for example, dining reservations that you were trying to work around. I wish I would have taken screen shots of the different options on my phone but didn't think of it at the time.

The other interesting thing was there were attractions listed that do not currently have fast pass such as Spaceship Earth, The Seas with Nemo and Journey Into Imagination and you had the option of choosing from some of these attractions as well.

Disney has been sneaking in these extra RFID FP+ readers. There are some good pictures of places like Pirates of the Caribbean, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, and those that you listed. Nearly everything is going to be FP+ eligible including all the meet and greets I guess.

VERY interesting indeed! I am curious now about how the changing times things work! Like bcrook, I'm also excited to hear you were able to choose both Soarin' and Test Track - thanks so much for sharing this! :thumbsup2

There's a video around made by a journalist that walks you through swapping a FP+ using the kiosk. I imagine that the app will do it pretty much the same way.

Thanks for sharing! Sooo many of us are interested in learning about FP+ I can't wait to see how it all goes and all the rumors are put away. This is interesting it looks like its coming together and good at that :)

Very interesting! Really good to hear you could get Soarin and Test track and not be limited to just one e ticket. It's also fascinating how their testing process allows people to actually get in the system and make reservtions!!

I'd have to guess that was a huge mistake on someones part.

OP - Thanks for the info. Sounds exciting.

I don't see fastpass+ as an option on my disney app where you said yours was located. I so badly want one for test track :(

I've had fastpass+ information show up on both the website and the app intermittently, but the buttons have always been grayed out -- no functionality.

Thank you for sharing. :)

They made it right by giving you the fast passes... another reason I love Disney! Always willing to make things right and magical! :thumbsup2

How was this making anything "right"?

and you cant make any firm conclusions from this one instance to say how the FP+ will work when it is fully rolled out and operational
