GAC and stroller question

Agreed...there's nothing keeping the person from not taking the child out of the stroller at that point. I've actually witnessed someone attempt to open their stroller on a fairly empty bus and try to put their sleeping child in it because they didn't feel like holding them after the bus was moving! Wow!! That was a mess! You wanna talk about causing a riot! LOL The other guests are saying 'Umm..you can't do that!' and then the bus driver is like 'Hey, you can't do that!' and the guest was like 'How are you gonna stop me? You're busy driving the bus now!!' Wow!! Just Wow!! That was one mess!! I really thought the bus driver was going to have to pull over and quite honestly I would have been fine if he did! Personally, I think the driver should have radioed ahead to our destination and there should have been security there to meet this family and they should have been 'banned' from using Disney transportation at that point. They were really indignant that they were going to do what THEY wanted to do regardless of the rules until other guests backed the driver up. Some people....and the sad part is that they were really jeopardizing their own child's safety.

yeah he should of called security to meet the bus but i guess he was thinking of the safety of all the guest not pulling over. their a law i think it a florida law saying the buses not just disney cant make a stop and let guest off at a non bus stop so the driver figured if he detoured it would just cause problems for the other guest and didn't want to make any trouble.
i seen at dhs where a bus pulls up and the guest unfold on the bus before exiting and have a hard time getting of the bus and the driver having to come back and make them refold to get off the bus. this is one problem with the drivers and disney they dont call security when they should your case should differntly been referred to security that was unsafe and the driver risk his job by not stopping and getting him to refold it or remove them from the bus. but know their going to be putting cameras on the buses for safety which will help the driver in those cases so if security is called the guest can't lie about it and try to get out of it. but not sure when they will be adding they they put signs on the out side of all the new buses letting guest know for safety and security video taping might be done on this bus. so not sure if it be every bus or random buses.

Yes, I realize it is a DOT rule, and I have no doubt it was created by men that have never tried to hold a baby, diaper bag, fold a stroller while holding them, then carry them all onto a bus. It's one thing to be getting on a crowded, city bus and entirely different to be getting on an empty bus with a few other people at a Disney resort. If their primary concern was the safety of the baby, it would be clear it is safer to role the baby on the bus in the stroller, put the baby on your lap and then fold the stroller while safely seated holding the baby. Not try to climb up the bus step juggling the baby, diaper bag and stroller.

I'm not saying people should leave the baby in the stroller while the bus moving.

Of course I know the rules must be followed regardless of the actual circumstance, because no one is allowed to use common sense anymore and be flexible to the actual situation in front of them.

The dot law has nothing to do with the safety of the baby the dot expect the parent to safely carry or get the baby on the bus safely without needing the stroller it has to do with the safety of the other passengers. If something happens and their strollers unfolded it could hinder the evacuation of the passengers to safety. If the dot regulated the monorails then passengers would have to fold their strollers to but for now until they do decide to regulate it Disney left to enforce their own policy where you can go on without folding it unless it busy or if in the accessible car and their a guest in a wheelchair or ECV waiting to board.

I know what your saying yes it not a safety risk to board the bus and then fold it but it a matter of being easier to enforce it before you board to cut down on the trouble guest who would refuse to fold it once on the bus. Their two exceptions that you could bring an unfold stroller on board a specail needs stroller that either can be tied down and be treated like a wheelchair and be tied down or be allowed to use the back door then transfer to a seat and then fold it once on.

Sorry-but I have to disagree with you. "Common sense" to me is following the laws.

It sad I was supporting your stance but you still have to try prove me wrong when I am not i never said you can take any stroller on the bus then fold it you can't I say the ones they are made to be tied down can be tied down, they are special needs strollers that are made to be tied down and some are not but the ones that can't dose not mean they not allowed to use the ramp then transfer to a seat and then fold it. That what i Meant maybe it was not that clear the first time and may be still not that clear.


After reading where you bolted it I do see how it could be miss understood I was not implying you should be allowed to board then fold it I was just trying saying it not a safety risk for boarding but for when the bus is in motion. I was just trying to show they make you fold it before to cut down on guest that might not want to follow the law and be easier on the driver.

I am sorry it my fault your right I was just saying the only exception to the rule is special needs strollers. I have a problem sometime getting out what I am trying to say I just worded it wrong so sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thanks - I was not aware of this. So, I can leave my special needs son in his special needs stroller and unload him on the bus - correct? And then fold down the stroller. TIA

Yes you can use the ramp at the back door of the bus just let the driver know and of their a seat your son can transfer then fold the stroller. If other guest are loading and the driver cant load you through the back door safely then you will either have to wait for the next bus or go through the front door it just wont be level and the driver can kneel the bus if they didn't do when they pulled up. if their no seats and the driver cant get anyone to give up their seat you may have to wait for the next bus if you need a seat. if it can be tied down then the driver can tie it down for you like they do for wheel chairs. If you have to use the front door their wont be a ramp so your kid would have to walk to a seat but can stay in stroller in line and bring it to front door. So if the que has a separate entrance which at the parks they won't expect three at Dhs just to through the regular que. at mk you go through the que then their a gate that lead you toward the back door use that. If you want you can go around the que and wait safely by where the back door is and when the bus pulls up just wave to the driver so they see you.

It important you know if your stroller can or can't be tied because their are drivers that will try to tie it down for you and it might get damaged if not made to.
